It is alway so hard when our kids go away to college. I will tell you what I tell all of my friends. God has a plan, just be patient. Before you know it not only will you daughter return, you will have a son in law….then grands. It always feels empty, but then your world expands and grows. Hang in there beautiful lady. God is Good!!
Take 1, take 2..3,4,5. 5 takes it all it took! Thanks for the reminders. It’s so easy to get overwhelmed with the holidays and trying to make everything so perfect that we forget to take care of ourselves and sit back and enjoy the moments.
Self care is so important. After thinking about what goes into creating a holiday everyone can enjoy, oftentimes, we only see our work and sweat after the function is over. 5 takes is all it took! Sometimes that number can easily double!
As a self-care advocate and life- learner, oh how appreciative I am to hear/see you make this one of your 12 days!! Omg, I love this and I second you making this some part of your holiday series EVERY YEAR!!! (If it works for you of course) you are so on point it's a much needed, wonderful reminder to keep grounded, balanced and in spirit. I literally was in my self-care time seeing this, as watching your videos are part of my happy mental space. I leave the hub, kids, fam and friends behind and take myself out on a date and do a few of my favorite things that bring joy and centering, particularly things I may be in minority amongst my fam &friends. Thank you!! 💕💕💕💕💕
Your words and emotions speak to a lot of us who can’t relax until everything is perfect. It took you 5 takes to refocus but we truly understand how you feel. Thank you for this episode especially I think we all need a self care and reset day. 💕
The special place I have is a tree in my front yard. I sit there while I let my dog out to explore. I call it my God tree where I go to pray, to think, to be thankful and remember my blessings. I have had some very difficult times the last few years, many health issues and the loss of both parents, my brother, and my beloved fur baby to liver cancer. I have worked hard to get to the other side of all of this, which I know will always be a work in progress, but I have a wonderful son and counselor and my church family and some great friends. I'm learning to live in the moment and to not be too hard on myself when I feel I'm failing. Those are momentary thoughts. Thank you for tackling the self care issue. It is so important, and I love how down to earth and open you are. Blessings to you and the community ❤
What I like most about her is that she's very "Down To Earth" feeling. I like the small distinctions that happen. It human! You are quality viewing and thank you for that! Looking forward to the next video! God bless 🙌
Five takes. I remember the days my girls were in college, those were some tough years.😅. Give yourself grace during the holidays, it’s really okay if it’s not perfect- note to self as well!
This topic is so important and needed. My kids are both young adults so holidays are truly different but I am able to take care of myself more. What makes me feel good. Its been difficult with my mom dealing with dementia and living in a nursing home. This has been so hard for me.
Hello, self-care is extremely important. It took 5 takes. You're a very young matriarch. I'm praying God's peace, grace, and wisdom as you transition into your new familial role!
I love my living room with my fireplace going I’m wrapped up in My heated blanket and my crochet hook & yarn in hand a hallmark Christmas movies on that’s my save haven 🥰 It’s hard for me because I’m a perfectionist . I but extra pressure on myself this time of year wanting everything to be perfect When in reality it already is God Bless 🙏 ..
Hi 👋 Melonie . ❤ loving this Christmas Series. Thank you for sharing all your talents. I enjoyed this video it made me know I’m not alone. I lost my husband a few years ago the day after Christmas and so I reflect on our relationship and so on especially now. Listening to you gave me strength. Thank you 🙏
❤!! That’s so beautiful…A friendship for so many years has to be one of the sweetest treasures here on earth. Thank you for this series. I’m a new sub to this channel but I’ve been on UA-cam as a consumer for years and I know it has to take a lot of time and work to upload content even when you enjoy doing it. On top of life and all the things, the energy it must take one to jump over some of those bars we set so high for ourselves…it can all be A LOT. I applaud you for resetting and all. I like to have me a nice cup of coffee as well, pray, watch something good on tv or whatever I can, when I can. Thank you and I’m excited for the future content you have planned!
Thanks for sharing those tips on how to get through the holidays with some self care. I usually run ragged and am too exhausted afterwards. My place of rejuvenation is in a hot bubble bath at the end of a hectic day.
Melonie, thanks for bringing us the Twelve Days of Christmas. We appreciate all the work you do to make it enjoyable for us. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!❤
Thanks for the tips and reminders Melonie. It’s so easy to forget about taking care of ourselves first. I know exactly how it is when the kids aren’t around it’s definitely an adjustment that will get a little easier. I know you can’t wait to see her for the holidays.🥰 And, I agree with not saying no more often. That’s really a tough one for me that I’m working on.
Awww! 😔. I felt the same why when my children were growing up into their own person … it’s very difficult to say the least.. empty nest is hard Give yourself grace and Relax you will get through it My friend 🙏 now my children are all married and have children of their own and gave my husband and I seven beautiful grandchildren. 💕 they are all so much fun !!! 🥰 and a blessing take care
Time is going too fast lol. It's nice that u find time to get together with your best friends before Xmas. Holliday can b crazy and any place with water relaxs me. Enjoy ur time
Hello Melonie, Thanks for the tips on self-care, this video is definitely needed during this time of year. Thank you for all the videos and content you share with us, very much appreciated. Wishing you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving! Will be there for movie night.
Also I should say, to decorate home for holidays, atend friends at home and everytjing else. But, and this is a big but ...be also a youtuber... good Lord!!! You are the best Mel❤😊
Love love love this series. I've just gone through a battery of test because of stress. I also do way too much for others. God had to sit me down. Thanks for sharing. You are so relatable. I can hardly wait for movie night.
Mel, thanks for your authenticity and willingness to share. I had same experience with my daughter...you will get through it together❤ Thanks for the self help. My Mom used to say "take the time to rest, reflect, and restart with fresh eyes" Looking forward to more of these 12 days- I don't want it to end😂😂😂
I know for myself I have a hard time just slowing down! Doing my own things , taking care of the Grandloves, and church. I have been more conscious about it this year and saying no. The number of retakes was I think 5 . Have a very Blessed Thanksgiving.
Great tips for ourselves. Such a busy time in the year and we all need to step back and breath. Enjoy your Thanksgiving with your family!! You will be the perfect host!!!!
Thanks so much Melonie for the self care tips and for bringing us the 12 days of Christmas year after year. 🎄It is hard when our children leave for college or move out on their own. It makes them coming home more special! Enjoy your time with your daughter and family Happy Thanksgiving 🦃🥰
Just a note to say I really enjoyed the information and the setting. Your calm presentation was very relaxing. Thanks so much for all your videos. You are so amazing!
I LOVE this Melonie....Thank you!!!!!!!! And, all your videos. I hear it in your mommy voice. We understand. I cried for weeks after my son left for college. I understand as so many mommies do when our babies grow up.
It's always somewhat hard this time of year. But we have to remember to take it one day at a time and one thing at a time 😅. Sometime we just need to rest and reflect like you said.❤. Thankyou.
Melonie- you are so right- the hardest things for us to remember to do is take time for ourselves and that it’s ok to say no. Thank you for sharing and have a great weekend!
I just found your video tonight. I live in the Pacific Northwest. So it is rainy and chilly. No snow yet. I love your weather. Your house is beautiful. And your comments are wonderful. I enjoy listening to you and I am subscribing to you. Mindful moments are nice. I have a place to go in my backyard in the spring summer and fall and sometimes in the winter when I am raking leaves and picking up apples from my apple trees. Thank you! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! ❤
Man do I need this!! My daughter is having her gallbladder removed in the morning. She has an 18 year old son (my grandson). She will miss work... she is separated from her husband.
I'm glad you're in her corner, her son is of the age to help out around the house and with her recovery needs. Prayerfully, she has paid sick leave or an emergency fund in place. Blessings to your family as you press forward during this difficult times.
Think my previous comment do not came out. I like this honest pause video. To avoid stress I decorate early cause it makes the season longer too. I fall in love with silence a couple of years ago. And decoupage and patchwork helps a lot, along meetings with my friends. Mel you are doing a fantastic job, great taste and pallet of colors. Every year something new, you rock my friend, feel proud of yourself. Hope you have a great time with Prima at home. Have a great Thanksgiving you deserv it, cheers my lady, thanks for sharing and giving us, nice videos everytime🤗😊🍷🎉🥳🎉🍷🎄⛄
Melonie, You are so on target with my life. Thank you for bringing this to my attention and giving some advice. This year has proven to be an education in self-care that has been forced upon me. Thank you for the encouragement and guidance.💝
Hi Mel, Thanks to you and your dear friend, Dr. Kimberly for the inspiring “self care” tips! You asked what our “mindful moments” are …I love to find a quiet spot (the office) and have devotional time with the Lord to help navigate my day. A nice walk in the park is also a way to reflect. Also, a cup of tea and reading or web searching something that will fill my soul with joy is quite satisfying too!!! I’m typically a busybody and people person, so I sometimes have to force myself to take these personal moments which are so important!! ❤ Happy Holidays! I’m excited to see the rest of your series!! Lady DI (Della)
When I need a moment to regroup I start intentional deep breathing. If I can pull it off I’ll do my deep breathing for at least five minutes in solitude. Otherwise I’ll just try to focus on my breathing and block out whatever is going on around me for a minute or two, as it isn’t always possible to remove myself from whatever the situation.
Good tips and things to really think about. I know for myself I have been beating myself up because I'm not able to do things that I normally do because I am struggling with severe Neuropathy in my hands and my feet. So I am Struggling and Slow getting things done 😒😟😟. I love this time of the year and really enjoyed decorating 🎄 and cooking for the Holidays anyway enough and my my pity party. I get enjoyment watching your videos so Thanks 🙏🏾 for sharing your special talent with me ☺️🙏🏾.🎉
I have moved up in the family and it's really a LOT!! I'm scared that I will "drop the ball" and really mess up the family. I'll pray for you as you go through this. ❄️ WOW 5 takes on that second point 😂
Wow, this topic is on point. Admittedly, I have been undergoing some stress; however, I am REALLY learning to take time for me and the art of saying no. More importantly, saying no without an explanation. When I feel pressed/stressed, I've started stepping back and asking who, what, when, how, and especially why. I'm still learning and incorporating balance and especially setting boundaries. Recently, someone said being over schedule/busy is another distraction of the enemy. It can also be a form of depression. I'm looking forward to further conversation advising how we can be better. Thank you for sharing
Thank you so much for sharing your days with us and your beautiful home and your thoughts. It’s such an inspirational way to help us and to have a wonderful holiday season. I want to wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving 🙂
Hey Mel, Thank you so much for sharing! As much as I love the decorating and cocktail videos, I really enjoyed today’s heart to heart. It took 5 takes to get to the point. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Melonie, great video, it's so true. We can use someone to help us with this time of year. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving to you and your beautiful family. Warm hugs
Thanks for the tips on making our holidays more joyful. I don’t think any of your subscribers expect perfection from you, so thanks for encouraging us not to expect perfection from ourselves. Blessings and I hope that your Thanksgiving goes well.
It took 5 takes and it became funny at some point while you were trying to stay on topic , but you set the example and remained calm . At this time of the year I definitely take time most days to reflect on what this season means , I listen to a lot of worship music , pray, and read my Bible . I never , ever rush to decorate.Thank you for sharing your time with us every year .
Love this! Needed to hear this. Everyone in my family leans in me to organize and schedule during the holiday season which I don’t mind doing but can be stressful. Thank you for the 12 days of Christmas we appreciate it❤ 5 takes 😆
You are so right and it can be so overwhelming. Women wear so many hats. I did learn to not over commit and say no sometimes. Also as you pointed out as life changes and kids leave the holidays may not look the same. Also gifts we just do for our Grandchildren now and maybe a special friend our importance is on family and being together. Especially after Covid this has new meaning. Do what brings you joy.🙏❤️🌲🎅🏻
Mel it seem like once kids get passed elementary its like a gap starts and as the gap open the kids are like no more family time meeting new friends socializing with other wanting date hanging out at the mall and phone time and driving and last but not lease graduation and by the time they go off to college u be like wow I didn't realize the gap had got so big because you are so busy getting them ready for a new journey of life and we went through that and that is good you have something to keep you busy and I to am a perfectionist especially when it comes to have things the way I want it ❤
Thanks for this. I love and appreciate all the effort you put into it. I know you said you were going to stop doing the 12 days of Christmas Series the other year. I’m glad you changed your mind and I’m glad you got help. Look forward to seeing Dr. Kimberly because I love Christmas and anticipation it all year long and by the time my birthday gets here (12/16) I’m in tears from being overwhelmed and overlooked. I want to change this and take in all the feels of the holiday season.
Love and Peace to you Dear Friend! I felt the Love and heartfelt intent through the screen. So relatable and needed. Appreciate your vulnerability and time and intention to speak with your friend on the points to share with us.🥰. My oldest is still home and commutes to her University daily. The next will likely not do the same, he'll likely leave. When I sit and think about them not being here and oh boy have I done that too many times and too prematurely, I tear up. I will add you and Prima to my prayers. A Mother's love and longing for their and their protection and guidance is like no other. I'll stop because your girl can talk and type and feels flow for days. 😅Take good care and I appreciate you 🥰
Melonie, I'm super excited for you that your Prima will be home😊 5 takes is all it took😅 Thank you for putting together this holiday extravaganza! TBH the 7pm posting works well for me too😅❤
Awesome dear. Thank you for the shoutout, but you did it yourself. I was right about the 5 takes LOL. Taking deep breaths are like love notes to your body. Happy Thanksgiving dear and you are amazing. Never forget that.
I had to stop watching, but now trying to catch up. And I love your red scarf. Anything bling I love anyway. And Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family🦃🙏🏾💖
You're Christmas content always pops up in my feed but I never really watched as I looked at your gorgeous home and it felt so unrelateable for me. To be honest, I worried if I watched that I would end up feeling inadequate. This video came on an autoplay while I was pottering around at home and I know realise how wrong I was to have not watched sooner! Off to binge watch now ❤
Wow! Thank you for sharing this with me!♥️ I changed my channel name a few years ago hoping to find one that was ‘more relatable’…I think you’ll quickly see that I am super relatable, that you can enjoy some laughable “life” with me along the way. Im so happy you clicked, and hope you subscribe and continue to find ways to do what makes you happy in your home♥️✌🏽🎄
I have absolutely subscribed Melonie ❤ loving the content girl and your passion for what you do. PS I now crease the edges of my Christmas presents too... 😊
Hi Melonie, love the twelve days of Christmas you do each year. Just curious, which tree out of all the beautiful trees you have done, which style tree before any decorations do you prefer over all so far? Thanks
See day 1 of the episode and day 1 of all the years. There are going to be exciting changes I guess... I feel it, but i don''t know for sure. I might be wrong
Mel how about if you with your friend who is psychologist talk about menopause, how to deal with this stage in life. Think this comunity are between 35 - 53 years old. And that will help us a lot. Maybe whats the best to eat, drink, cloth to wear, hot flushes and so on. Hope you like this idea my girl. ❤🎄🤗🍷⛄🎄⛄
I’m already kinda scared about my daughter going off to college and she’s 12. I know time flies as I have an older son but he didn’t go away to college but my daughter has already expressed her plans too.
God bless you today & everyday! Thank you so much for everything! With Love & Gratitude!!!❤
I am using this time to declutter before the holidays. It is time to get rid of everything!

Mel it seem like once kids get passed elementary its like a gap starts and as the gap open the kids are like no more family time meeting new friends socializing with other wanting date hanging out at the mall and phone time and driving and last but not lease graduation and by the time they go off to college u be like wow I didn't realize the gap had got so big because you are so busy getting them ready for a new journey of life and we went through that and that is good you have something to keep you busy and I to am a perfectionist especially when it comes to have things the way I want it ❤
Lovely video. Thanks for your transparency and vulnerability. Have a great Thanksgiving 🍁🍂 🦃
I wish I could give you a real hug right now. You are not alone dear. I love you sister
It took you 5 takes! I think this video was little bit funny! Especially your visitor at the door! I think your home is beautiful!!
😅Take good care and I appreciate you 🥰
Boy did this hit home. Reset I’ll try to work on that. ❤
🙏
Sorry to hear about your grandma 🙏🏽
Great video. It only took 5 Takes, but it was funny.
Happy Friday Enjoyed Watching 🥰 Have A Blessed Thanksgiving 🦃
Judy did you open your ornaments??😆💙
@@Lifestylewithmg yes I did and they are g gorgeous . I 💙💙 thanks again
Hi Melonie, love the twelve days of Christmas you do each year. Just curious, which tree out of all the beautiful trees you have done, which style tree before any decorations do you prefer over all so far? Thanks
Great question! I’ll talk about that in my LIVE tonight!🎄
I miss seeing you decorate your tree!
My space is my car.
