Brian Wilson deserved to have top-notch musicians to help bring his brilliant music to life and this proves that he had it with The Wrecking Crew. Fantastic sound, Jaime. Thanks! Great pictures, too.
Hal Blaine on drums, Carol Kaye on bass and Billy Strange on lead guitar (the same guy who played that familiar lead guitar on the Munsters theme song and did so much else).
Tommy Tedesco, Bill Pitman, Carol Kaye, Don Randi, Hal Blaine, Julius Wechter, Jay Migliori, Steve Douglas and Plas Johnson played on this track, along with Brian and Carl Wilson and Ron Swallow (The Beach Boys equipment manager at the time).
This is true Glenn Campbell was on a lot of the same records but stopped when he had hits Glenn said he is on one out of 5 records on an oldies station STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT VIVA LAS VEGAS and this
I don't think it's Hal Blaine on drums-you can clearly hear Dennis Wilson count it in. Because the BB's were the only band who admitted to having the Wrecking Crew-everyone thinks that the actual BB's did little recording work- in fact both Carl and Dennis and even Al are on quite a bit of their recorded work.
Carole Kaye is one of the greats. It's ok to call them the Wrecking Crew-after all we call the Beach Boys the Beach Boys and they didn't even name themselves! Cheers.
I never realised how much of this song was just vocals and drums! It really shows the power of dat vocal stack

Yessir. What a great era for music and the musicians who created it with Brian Wilson et al leading the way.
@@jdingledine The 50's, 60's and 70's had young geniuses.
No one can beat them.
The masterful guitar raking alone is worth the price of admission.

Do you think carl played the riff on this or just rhythm guitar
Both I believe. He plays the riff and then during the second half of the verse he switches to chords.
Plus he’s the one playing the chord in the intro during the conga part.
It's been said that Tedesco is the most recorded guitarist in history-love The Crew's work on this one.

All my research indicates it's Hal. Dennis only sang backup vocals on the track. Thanks for watching!

So do I!!

Is that a picture of Earl Palmer puffing on a cigarillo ?
Carl also played guitar on this track.
holy fuck!!!!!
ACE ACE ACE Good To My Baby
YEA,CAROL KAYE!! (but don't call them "The Wrecking Crew". Hal Blaine made up that name after the fact.....)
dit is de juiste volgorde Zjé, Strings, Rollin' Stones, Beach Boys.... en efkes die Punkers vergeten....
Their concert performances were even better ...and it's harder to sing and play in front of audiences
It’s actually easier because the crowd boise and venue audio covers up mistakes.
