Not according to the session tapes and much deep research by John Stebbins and Craig Slowinski. Dennis played on a large number of tracks, not Hal or Earl.@@timmcgrath795
No biggie, it will take a long while to give Dennis his due, if ever. Earl and Hal certainly added an enormous amount to the recordings they played on! @@timmcgrath795
When I grow up to be a man Will I dig the same things that turn me on as a kid? Will I look back and say that I wish I hadn't done what I did? Will I joke around and still dig those sounds When I grow up to be a man? Will I look for the same things in a woman that I dig in a girl? (Fourteen, fifteen) Will I settle down fast or will I first wanna travel the world? (Sixteen, seventeen) Now I'm young and free, but how will it be? When I grow up to be a man? Will my kids be proud or think their old man is really a square? (Eighteen, nineteen) When they're out having fun yeah, will I still wanna have my share? (Twenty, twenty-one) Will I love my wife for the rest of my life? When I grow up to be a man? What will I be when I grow up to be a man? Won't last forever It's kind of sad Won't last forever It's kind of sad
@@RingoStarr39 Awesome, that is a very important 45. The All Summer Long album ended the surf music era for the Beach Boys and the When I Grow Up/She Knows Me Too Well single is the start of the period that culminates with Pet Sounds and Good Vibrations. Thanks for the great uploads.
My new favorite part of this is the harmonica that for 38 years tricked my ears into thinking it was something they did with the harpsichord.
Holy cow! I too thought it was a harpsichord (or some synthetic mimicking, like a mellotron). I’ll never hear this the same now.
Same! Thought it was some sort of harpsichord trill.
Carl’s smile
The drums in this are great.
It took Denny a bunch of tries to get it right but once he did, he did a good job.
Long live Dennis & Carl’s memories.

This song kinda reminds me of Calcutta by Lawrence Welk.
Dennis kicking ass on drums! Great song.
It's either Earl Palmer or Hal Blaine....

Thank you for uploading this tune! Great to hear what was behind the wonderful vocals. Some very strange harmonies in this song...😎
That C7 with a Gb5 is probably the most interesting chord to start a song.
I love this song so much, thank you for uploading.

Great! Do you have the instrumental for She Knows Me Too Well?

Who played bass on It?
Wikipedia says Al played bass. But, there are two bass guitars so he may have played them both or someone else could have played one.
Absolutely amazing!!! This is a piece of gold!! Thank you for sharing this with us.
