Exciting seeing you meeting the challenges of retrofitting and redesigning hundreds year old building !! Sean love your ingenuity using your on hand materials! Brilliant 👍🏻
Superb job Sean - your 'conservationist' attitude shows respect for a building's history and its historical value. That build DOES look like it has always been there - 100% spot-on. Time for a cuppa with Sam and a warm gooey piece of sticky toffee pud.
Sean, it looks fantastic! Yes, it looks like it’s been there for 300 years and now the cottage will stand another 300 years. You are the master of lime mortar, stone and using what you have. Love that old piece of wood. ❤
Oh Sean! I just looked at a picture i won first praise for…totally crated by fabrics, sheers, thread….i felt the same humble pleasure with the colours , textures, nuances of colour…you have put together…what a delight every time I come to your site….
Good camerawork. Lots of angles, we can clearly see what you’re doing and follow along. I’ve watched so many channels with boring and even out-of-focus videos that this is a real pleasure to see. Also, the cottage is looking better and better 😊
A man of vision….that is you, Sean! It is great that you are making good use of all your tile and wood finds! They really look nice. You are a master at flinging that mortar! 🤣. “Spot on”….no surprise there!! Looks great! Love from Pennsylvania 💕🌷🐻
It looks fantastic. I love the way you chip away at it and use what you have on hand and make it work and look beautiful. So rewarding to watch. I feel more confident to have a go at some brick work that needs doing.🙂
6:58 I agree. That can be infilled and then the lumber piece will fit nicely. 👍👍 You have a bit of this and a bit of that and I think it adds character and you did it on a low budget. 👍
Rustic charm! It’s going to be super when coupled with the tomette tile entryway. Lots of levels and visual interest while making that wall stable. Clever!
You tell me what you're going to do and I think, "No! That will look awful!!" Then you do it and I can't help saying, "It looks fabulous! Like it's always been there!" Great job as always.
I don't always get your vision when you're trying to solve problems but with your experience as a builder and the materials you work with I trust that you are going down the right road to a solution. And "Hey, it's rustic!" covers much of what is needed in the cottage. Best wishes to you and Sam.
I've heard people say "Trust the Process" and that certainly applies to this wall. Before you finish, while you're showing us what you are going to do it doesn't look great -- BUT, once you finish it's BEAUTIFUL and looks like it's always been there. Good job, Sean.
Sean, adding that new door with windows will be wonderful to add light into the cottage!! Working it in will be a job but well worth it! That back wall is coming along! You pondered it enough to figure out a great solution!👍
I think that came out very well, and even though it is concocted from various materials to hand, it certainly doesn't look like it! Once everything is finished around it, that entire entrance hall will look fantastic. Well done!
Sean, I am so inspired by you and your channel is my absolute favourite! I recently bought a tiny hamlet house with a barn - everything it's made out of is the same as your cottage! The roof tiles, the Tomettes, the weathered granite corner stones and big stone slabs! I'm following you very closely, especially the how you installed the roof windows, all done from the inside 👍 My favourite material so far has been lime mortar and more lime! What a difference just rendering walls and revealing the old stone makes😀 Always looking forward to your next episode XX
The roof tiles were inspired Sean and the old beam looks wonderful. Full of character and oozing permanence. It is going to be the perfect base for the panelling. 😁🏅
Sean, the wall looks great so far. I would suggest considering adding another course or two of the timers on top of the timber in order to tie in to the use of the tiles on top of the course of stones. Just a thought. I really like how you work out you plan of action!
Yes, it looks like that has been there for a very long time. Great use of the materials you have available in your various stock piles around your property. Ronnie in Saskatchewan
Absolutely brilliant idea Sean with the use of those roof tiles and as you have said that beam is the perfect choice - looks PERIOD and good to the eye 🤩
I am still lost. I'll just have to wait and see how this all comes together...I have faith in your vision, your skill and the outcome will no doubt be fantastic. I'm patient.
I love how you show us your thought process and then make it happen. It looks wonderful! I like your guiding principle: It will look like it's always been there.
When I was an apprentice bricky the old timers had a saying, “Mortar on wood, no good. Mortar on steel, no deal.” I think all stone would have been better looking, or some old bricks incorporated into a mud room bench/wall.
Looks great Sean, I doubted you for a few minutes round the colour of the tiles you used. Looks great on completion and totally in character of the building.
Good job Sean, use what you’ve got. It’s great if you can afford to buy all new materials, but much more interesting to utilize the way it was done in the past.😅😅❤❤❤
Thank you for all you do Sean it's fabulous seeing what can be done with materials you have.

Sean, Great use of found materials. It looks really good.
Cheers

Slowly but surely it is all coming together 🎉

Pragmatic as ever ! Necessity is the mother of invention !
You combine respect for the traditional with your own creativity. Wonderful.
WOW, how on earth do you envisage these things in your head and then make it a reality. Fabulous! ❤🐨

Love it, Sean ❤❤❤ I knew you would have something in mind to fix that issue. You are amazing.

Nide job on using what you have on hand and making it work. I like that for sure because new materials are not free. You have a wonderful day
Looks great so far Sean❤
Looks good. I remember you doing the other side and I wasn't sure what you were doing. It all makes sense now 😊
👍🏻👍🏻
Beautiful job!
You are a true artist!
Like it, great job!
I am trying to think how you can utilize the holes on top of the timber or will that be covered. Unbelievable work. A piece of art work on its own.
Wow, that looks really great❤
Looks like it would make a nice shelf , you do good work Sean

Great video!
Good job!
Truelly Sean, you are a master of creativity. I love watching you build and create from anything and everything, fabulous work, looks great 👏🏻👏🏻😊
It looks great.
❤
I would have stone up to the metal then take the doors for a paneling ❤❤
May not use the doors
I think that came out very well, and even though it is concocted from various materials to hand, it certainly doesn't look like it! Once everything is finished around it, that entire entrance hall will look fantastic. Well done!
Bravo.
Looks good.

Master Craftsman! 😊
👍
It's gonna be beautiful ❤️

Seeing the wall panels will be above the piece of timber it would have been an idea to sand it and clean it up to be uniform with the panels.
Yes, it looks like that has been there for a very long time. Great use of the materials you have available in your various stock piles around your property. Ronnie in Saskatchewan
If you said why the mortises are facing upward I was probably daydreaming. I thought they would face downward. Thanks,
Well done. 👍🏻
Absolutely brilliant idea Sean with the use of those roof tiles and as you have said that beam is the perfect choice - looks PERIOD and good to the eye 🤩
Well done, can hardly wait to see how you finish the rest of the wall🙌👍
I am still lost. I'll just have to wait and see how this all comes together...I have faith in your vision, your skill and the outcome will no doubt be fantastic. I'm patient.
Sean, it is a thing of beauty!!!! ❤😅
It looks good.
Sean, the wall is really looking fantastic, and I admire how you recycle the materials.
I love how you show us your thought process and then make it happen. It looks wonderful! I like your guiding principle: It will look like it's always been there.
This work really does reflect your determination and creativity. Congratulations.😊❤
I love how you recycle & repurpose all materials in your building - great job.
That looks like it has been there when built and adds strength to the wall. I like it very much.
Looks good Sean! The glass door will look lovely once everything is done at the entrance. It’s coming together.
The rustic charm shows off your creativity.
It looks great! ❤ Like it’s always been there! Very nice! 👏🏻❤️👏🏻
That’s a perfect piece of wood. So much character.
Dont have to please anyone but yourself . 😊
I think it looks great😊

Mortar on wood has been used here for hundreds of years
Ooh-la-la! Coming along, nicely, Hercules. Your newest wall base looks like it has always been there...and that "ain't easy."
I really like how that's looking Sean, it really suits the period style of the cottage
Looks great Sean, I doubted you for a few minutes round the colour of the tiles you used. Looks great on completion and totally in character of the building.
Awesome job Sean...👌👍♥️
Looks great.
It looks VERY good to the eye Sean and very period, well done.
Love when you get those creative juices flowing.
Sean, that looks like it was always there. Excellent choice.
Highly enjoyable Sean, well done.
Great look!!
I love that finished edge. Is there a reason NOT to fill the cutouts with mortar? Just wondering.
I may fill them if l don't utilise them in the design
Good job Sean, use what you’ve got. It’s great if you can afford to buy all new materials, but much more interesting to utilize the way it was done in the past.😅😅❤❤❤
Bottom step looking better dunno what u did but its looking better on my eye... Well done xx
So far I love it Sean 👍
You do such amazing work, Sean!
