Life was so simple and beautiful in 30's !!!
“Goodnight Sweetheart” is the highlight of this compilation.
i would have loved to have seen these musicians live ,but alas i was born n 1954 and missed out on fabulous times it was all over by then thank goodness it was all captured on 78s

WUNNN-DERRR-FUUUL 👍
1931 was a wonderful year for popular music and there are plenty more examples on my channel. Delighted that you have found this of interest.
Huzzah! Best quality Payne presentation online. Most UA-camrs fail to capture the deep sonority of the band. Here you've done it to perfection! Thanks...
"Whistling in the Dark" always reminds me of Peter Bowles superb performance in the court room in "Pennies from Heaven". The best BBC series ever!
Fantastic music and superb quality recordings from over 80 years ago, who wants bloody CD's !.

lovely
Brilliant thanks for this!
Thanks for these wonderful treats.
Thankyou! This takes me back.... to a former lifetime.
Thank you for your answer.
Both versions of Moonlight Saving Time I know, this one and the Ambrose version are magnificent.
I love that superb warm sound of the early 30s, which both HMV and Columbia had. Sound wise they are unsurpassible even today. By 1930 the recording equipment, from microphone to cutting table and everything in between had been honed into near perfection. The big problem was the reproducing. There was simply no gramophone that was able to reproduce faithfully without wearing down a disc in one play.
fine quality!!!!!!
Thanks again

lindas musicas
Great-Jack Payne had the best version of this band in my opinion.
hi TREVOR lovely music from your Dear wife
The HMV 102 gramophone made its debut in 1931, combining the best acoustic technology available in its day. The sound-box was a modified Orthophonic, far gentler on records than mica diaphragms.
Apart from here, I don't know. It has never been reissued as far as I'm aware.
If only Jack had gone to Piccadilly or Edison Bell instead of Imperial after leaving Columbia...
Nice recording. Any chance you can give us "Radio Nights"?
Unfortunately I don't have that record. I understand it is fairly rare!
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Where can I find this version of "Whitsling in the dark"?
@eh44 I believe Jack Jackson is responsible for the great trumpet work.
Why does it always read "with Vocal chorus", when there is only one person singing? Shouldn´t it be better with "vocal refrain"?
Is this music in the public domain?
Anything over 70 years old is in the public domain.
