Well, "Panachord", i find this to be an excellent and very entertaining program ! And indeed, the sound quality is very good. So, thanks very much for the posting !
TRACK TIMING: 00:00 [1] Swing (BBC Dance Orchestra directed by Henry Hall, Vocal chorus by Dan Donovan) 02:40 [2] Cling To Me (BBC Dance Orchestra directed by Henry Hall, Vocal chorus by Dan Donovan) 05:30 [3] I Like Bananas (BBC Dance Orchestra directed by Henry Hall, Vocal chorus by George Elrick) 08:23 [4] It's Love Again (BBC Dance Orchestra directed by Henry Hall) 11:22 [5] Laughing Irish Eyes (BBC Dance Orchestra directed by Henry Hall, Vocal chorus by Dan Donovan) 14:12 [6] The Glory of Love (excerpt) (BBC Dance Orchestra directed by Henry Hall)
The quality of sound that you manage is amazing and is of course much better than a new record with a new needle on a new gramophone could produce back in the 1930s. Quite remarkable.
I've known wonderful people like you in my actual life. People who spent hours working on getting the perfect sound, ridding it of distortions and so on. One in particular, was in the 50s and he was working with hi-fiand various things to do with that era. It fascinated me.
Yes, of course. But how can you get hold of 78:s in "excellent condition" today? Most of them are already destroyed by old steel-needles and are very scratchy. Fantastic work you do! I can hardly hear any needle scratch at all.
I don't think I've heard 'Cling to Me' before Peter, thank you so much for producing such a clean version of a lovely song with vocals by Dan Donovan, I'm not biased of course. Huge thanks Peter xx
Don't worry, there's always somebody. Even trolls thinking it's funny to annoy people. Or maybe they don't exist. Just don't let it annoy you. At the very least, it's ignorant.
THEY DID NOT LLIVE IN OUR TIMES YOU HAD TO LIVE THEN TO BE ABLE TO FEEL THE EMOTION OF THOSE TIMES I AM IN MY 90S AND I KNOW HOW I NOW FEEL COMPARED WITH THEN. I HOPE YOU CAN UNDERSTAND
It was the style of the time. It's been retrograde now since the 1950s or 60s. Kids born in the 50s know no better. What's wonderful is that people who appreciate it can listen to it here. I think people now have the same emotions and feelings, it's that times have changed and, as I said, not for the better.
And I'm coming behind you, in my 80s. I hope you're still there TheRAFfc and read this. It was just behind me because I was a small child then, but I remember what I heard and I used to love it. You don't forget. Nobody now can seem to do this anymore.
In those times, there was minimal use of separate microphones in both live and recorded performances. Nowadays, every instrument is miked close and separately; I've seen drumkits with each top ride cymbal, the bass and each tom miked. No wonder theyc sound different.

I would be pleased to upload these separately. I will try and do so in the next month. I'm delighted that you have enjoyed them so much.

Thanks for your work on restoring and bringing this out in the open! Great work!
"Cling To Me" is a wonderful song and Dan Donovan sings it so beautifully. It has never been reissued, as far as I know, and deserves to be.
Super excellent
I CANT HELP LOVING ......
I danced to Henry Hall at the Streatham Locarno during the war Nice memory.
My Mom used to dance to Henry Hall too at the same place Streatham Locarno! 💕💕💕💕

An appropriate size stylus, records in excellent or near excellent condition, and hours spent on getting the best sound using the software I have.

It all worked beautifully, then, Panachord. This one is something I've not heard before even tho I know Henry Hall and his music.
Cling To Me, What a song! And Donovan is great! Love the arrangements too!

Cling to Me. How beautiful. Thanks again, Panachord.
Scaringly good EQ settings, could not believeit was from the '30s when it started to play... Greetings from the Netherlands, Rolf
Many thanks for your comments. I try to present the recordings the very best way I can.
Wonderfully true to the original beautifully recorded sound. A great selection, thank you Peter. 🎶🎶
Who the heck are the 4 people that will give this thumbs down!?
Precisely Niels, they cannot have any soul !. This music is sublime .

"Glory of Love" = "Pennies from Heaven"!
Auf diesen uralten abgeschrammten Schellackplatten ist meist viel bessere Musik als jene, die heutzutage aus dem Radio bröselt.... :-(
5:30

Again I have to ask-- why is it that modern musicians can't get the same sound as this music of the 30's?
