I work in this district and know most of the retailers there. My experience: the most sympatic employees work at PLETZSCH which is just 150 m away from WEMPE. They do not sell Rolex,Patek,GP etc. but Brands such as Tag Heuer, Tudor, Breitling, IWC etc.
They are a retailer with a couple of stores in Germany and in every store I had good chats with the employees.

I was in the UK recently to get my Rolex serviced. I was looking but got the STRONG impression the dealer was who determined who would be “honored” to get to purchase a new Rolex. She even told me that just because you put money down on a new watch, it didn’t meat that they would allow you to buy the watch. This attitude turned me off on the Rolex brand, I will say that was NOT the attitude I got from the AD dealer I purchased my Rolex batman from 7 years ago, in the USA, it was such a great experience. Maybe I need to change MY attitude to one of I don’t know if I want to spend my money on a Rolex. I figure enough people start walking away and Rolex may change their attitude, after all it not like your buying something that special, it’s just a watch. I wear mine every day and it is not a safe Queen, or an “investment” it’s a tool Watch period and worn as such.😊

Wempe was a dissapointment and I had to deal with an depressed / -ing sales person.
Bucherer wasn´t helpfull either. Took my name and I never got the promised email.
Rüschenbeck was in fact the friendliest place- they even offered me a datejust with white dial to buy on the spot (1 1/2 years ago). Since then I should be on two or three "lists" at ADs - I guess I will never hear of them.
There are two ways to get a rolex at an AD in Düsseldorf:
become famous or buy jewellery

Hello, I had a similar experience at Wempe too, but it was at Frankfurt. Pretty unwelcoming vibe by the sales associate. They only responded to my request to be put on list for a Patek Philippe and a Parmigiani after some persistence. I've a great relationship with Bucherer though. Started relationship with them 4 years ago in Switzerland and continuing with them after my recent relocation to Frankfurt. I think Bucherer has the best service overall with a wide range of watches and having fair practices. Ruschenbeck is also a really nice and friendly retailer in my experiences so far. Shout out if either of you guys visit Frankfurt and I can bring you around.

It's so hard to buy a Rolex, even if you have the money, it seems like they don't want to sell it. I would go for Tudor.
Rolex AD will prefer to insult you rather than sell you a watch, even if you have 150,000€ on you
Tudor the Rolex sub-brand, the one they will let people buy who are not worthy to own a Rolex .I'd rather pass.
Must be SO nice to finally be back in temperate weather! Those two experiences you had were pretty depressing. At least to me. Luckily you appreciate other brands where you can not only love the watches but be treated as a valued customer rather than someone who is at best grudgingly spoken to.

This is so useful and such perfect timing. I just joined a Dusseldorf based company and I am in Dusseldorf in three weeks. I was planning on buying a watch to mark the occasion. Perhaps not this time!
Walking into the Wempe boutique would've been nice if you showed zeitmesters and Ironwalkers too which are absolutely gorgeous and very well executed!
I live in Colorado but was in Dusseldorf on business last month. Checked out most of the high-end watch dealers like you but without luck. Was a different story in Barcelona a month earlier, the dealers were friendlier (like the old days) and was able to make purchase of a green seamaster pro. Do you have plans to visit other cities?

Düsseldorf is a beautiful city, the last time was in 2020. Cool architecture and great food. Yes, beer in small pints is not the only dark lager brewed and served.

It’s just a bland modern city… Vienna on the other hand is a really enjoyable city when it comes to architecture ;)

Dusseldorf Konnigsalle… been there last year summer, it was my second visit in the street. Previously 12 years ago i was there. Well Dubai is just smashing whole Dusseldorf, sorry to say. I’ve stayed in a Hilton hotel, terrible service, oldish rooms… Dubai Mall fashion avenue shopping experience vs Konnigsalle shopping experience? well You know the answer…
Most sold brand hardest to get. I made that journey once, had to lick the floor to get my most wanted watch. And now that I dream about going to another Rolex line I dont think Iam ready to go trough it again and I did spend a lot of money in the store last year for more than only watch for me.
Bei Cologne Watch, sowohl Düsseldorf als auch Köln, ist man definitiv am besten aufgehoben 👍 Viele gute Modelle werden derzeit nur knapp über Liste gehandelt und man muss sich die Arroganz von Wempe und Rüschenbeck absolut nicht antun. Hier werdet ihr nicht nur ausführlich und ehrlich beraten, hier könnt ihr euren Traum auch gleich mitnehmen und dafür zahle ich gerne einen kleinen Aufpreis zur Liste 👍 Im übrigen können beide Konzis nicht im Ansatz bei der Auswahl mithalten. 😁

Habe bei dem Wempe eine Nomos für 2500€ gekauft, was für das Personal wohl auch eher lästig war. Würde ich nicht unbedingt empfehlen aber das Modell gab es leider sonst nirgends mehr. Gehe lieber zu einem kleineren Familienbetrieb bei mir in der Gegend.

I’ve bought two with Wempe in Dortmund. Pretty easy going branch and staff. Not even gonna bother going to DUS, too much money and flashy people there. ;)

Spar dir die Zeit bei Rüschenbeck. Es ist bekannt dass sie nur Uhren von Rolex verkaufen wenn du ihre Schmuck Eigenmarke kaufst oder andere Marken wir Breitling. Mir wurde als Bestandskunde die Differenz vom Verlauf zum Marktwert gegen gerechnet und was ich von welcher Marke kaufen müsste um zB eine Batman zu kriegen. Hatte da vor Jahren eine 13‘000 datejust ausn Display gekauft (2019). Der Laden ist lächerlich.
Habe dort eine GS gekauft und mich mal für eine 126300 aufschreiben lassen.
Mal sehen, wann der Anruf kommt😂 wohl nie, aber die Uhr liegt im Graumarkt
nur 3k über Liste, was okay ist. Und 3k sind auf jeden Fall weniger als wenn man
noch anderen Plunder kaufen muss, welcher im Endeffekt mehr Kosten mit sich

Interesting video & visited the same shops I did in March when visiting Prowein. Would recommend you explain the tax back option in Germany as when traveling from GCC to purchase it makes more appealing especially with UK cancelling duty free shopping.

in germany, the Termin is holy :D too bad they also don't pick up the telephone so you can't even get one... not just watches, cars also these days
do not worry about relationships with ADs if such a thing exists, you seem to be well educated and perhaps a smarty pants... just think about it walking into an empty business to get ignored!! do a stake out with your friends and its probably always empty. they already have a deal to steer all the interesting pieces out the back door and Rolex just looks the other way? I don't think so to me this is their strategy to keep the mystery going and prices up

Das erinnert mich sehr an meine letzte Tour über die Kö. Keine Chance auch nur ein vernünftiges Gespräch zu führen. Sowohl bei Wempe, als auch bei Rüschenbeck. Da fand ich die kleineren Läden, mit gebrauchten Uhren interessanter - und Altherr in Köln. Die waren aufgeschlossener, nachdem ich erzählte, dass ich ihnen auf UA-cam und Instagram folge und so viel Gutes von Mister B. Watches (aka Konstantin) über sie gehört habe.
Aber ich bleibe meiner Wempe-Filiale in Bremen treu. Dort werde ich inzwischen mit Namen begrüßt und habe fast alle meine neuen Uhren gekauft (von Omega und Sinn mal abgesehen).

For my upcoming 60th birthday my wife has gifted me with a trip to Stuttgart Germany. Stuttgart was where we first met while serving in the US Armed forces. We lived in Stuttgart for four years. Anyway, Im hoping I could find a nice Rolex in Germany.

Rüschenbeck in Köln kann ich übrigens wärmstens empfehlen. Nicht, dass ich da eine Rolex angeboten bekommen hätte, aber der Verkäufer war sehr freundlich obwohl er an dem Tag wohl ziemlich viel Stress hatte.

in a nutshell most Ad's will look at how much custom they have had from you before deciding if they want to sell you a Rolex at retail....offcourse they will never admit it.

I am somehow new into Watches and the dificulty not just to buy but to speak with employees in this kind of shops it make a nonsense as a bussines, someone can explain how to run a bussines with such a high cost maintenaince plus with no educated employees but I assume well qualified and make a profit from it if nothing is on sale??? 🤷🏻♂️
