  • This was a rush job before dark to get the door fixed enough to open and close.
I'll see if I can make a better video the next time I disassemble the power door assembly but I do go over the basics of what was required.
    It's actually pretty easy.
    You'll need a 10mm socket, and a few TORX bits sizes 20, 30 & 40.
I did try to rewind the spool with some 10 speed bike shifter cables however due to the broken pieces in the spool the door only functioned once then the cable jumped off of the spool again.
At that point I just cut the cable loose from the track mount and the door will operate perfectly fine in manual mode.

    UPDATE...
I bought the $400 power rail assembly from the dealer and installed it.
I was recording the replacement with the new part but the Sony camera went dead. Not sure what it did record before it quit.

what is holding the the base of the wire chain/ harness in place attached to the frame ? How can it be released? Can you just pull on it? s it a pin, a nut or similar?

I need to do this too. Do you still have the part number?

Looked for videos everywhere just to figure out how to completely disable the automated part and as soon as you said "you can cut the wires if you want to get rid of it" I went at it and now I can finally open my doors and so can my kiddos! The automatic was nice but sometimes simplicity is just as good if not better, especially when I've gone MONTHS without being able to use them hardly at all. Lol. Thank you for your video! And if I ever feel the need to replace the spools and wires then I will use your video.!

Well your curiosity just saved me a lot of time and effort. I just disassembled the spool and found the wire all chewed up in there like you did. I figured how hard could it be to repair but after watching your video I’ll pass on the headache. Manual doors it is from now on 😆

I waited a year to replace mine. Spoiled up the cables and use the door in manually. You are correct about the plastic sheathing causing the malfunction. Mine was 279.00 shipped.

I’m curious if the Toyota Sienna sliding door cable kit parts would fit into that..has that pulley and cable almost similar

I am about to attempt to re-string cables on the window regulator in my Durango, which you have done so many times. I am not completely sure that the cables themselves are broken. It might be the plastic pulleys. What happens, the window goes up and down very slow, and sticks in random spots. The only way to get it going is to grab the glass and work it up and down by hand, and it will move again, usually faster than before.

Owning a Chrysler is like owning a Goodman, Hmm, seems you have experience with both now. LOL.

I need to replace a sliding door on one. You got an idea on the best way to get it off? I don't see any videos on that.

I took some of the hardware off but not the entire door.
We haven't had this van in several years so I don't remember any specifics.

      They come as an assembly.

I didn’t mean spool, I meant the pulley contraption that sits on the metal door bracket and the wire spoils through, facing the exterior.

My cable and spool is also chewed up, but i can't get the spool out because of the nut spins with the spool. There is no resistance, so I can't get it off. How do i get it off?

They don't expect you to take apart the spool, but to replace the entire thing

@hackfreehvac my husband managed to get the nut off, and we are going to do some junk yard hunting before thinking about purchasing a full assembly.

You might want to tell people that some town and country have the bolts in the bottom of the van to remove motor and assemble
