Thank You!! Fixed BOTH sliders- back to fully functioning..And, the biggest bonus- the fact I fixed it myself :) Only cost me extra solder & a roll of electrical tape!!
I've seen this on alot of vans, but haven't repaired one yet. Most people decline fixing it as the door still works but doesn't have the remote open function. Thanks Duane.I look forward to your videos & click on the new videos everytime a new one comes on.Thanks again.
Your statement about if it mechanically works, it is probably an electrical issue was right for me. I bought a 2013 T&C and the door would open but not close electronically. I pulled the chain out a little without disconnecting anything and looked inside and, sure enough, there was a wire cut. I opened the chain, soldered the wire together, covered it with shrink wrap and... booya!... door closes electronically now! Woohoo! Thanks for this video!
Thank you so much. I was just about to order a new motor and then I thought I would check on UA-cam first for a way to check the motor. It is now fixed and working fine.
I had a similar problem, only it was not an electrical issue. The chain had a few links that fell off, so when the door closed it would get bound up. I would suggest checking that first before you take the entire system out.
Is there a correlation between what failure mode the door is and which of the wires to focus on? I have previously spliced and obvious break but know I have both doors malfunctioning again. * One door seems to close fine (for now), but upon opening it just pops open and stops (no motor sounds after initial opening. * The other door will almost completely shut just short about 3 inches and the Motor continues to run but the door is stuck in the 3-inch opened position. This same door from a shut position will only open to that 3-inch location and motor runs but no movement of the door. The wires "look" good.
Pete Zeimet Great video. Was a huge help for me. The detail of the plastic keepers is so helpful. I quickly and easily fixed a passenger on an 07. Hope you can make more videos. Do you have one on 07 a/c evap removal? Thanks so much.
Just pulled my entire harness out and found no broken wires. Used an tester to confirm harness is ok. Pullout out the motor and applied 12v to motor leads and motor is turning. Something is not alloying power to the motor itself. Any ideas? 02 Dodge Caravan Sport
this is not about the electrical in video, i am wondering what that grey "running board" above the sliding mechanism is called i have to replace that part and have no idea what it is actually called to begin looking for it. Thanks for any advice
Thank you for your video, it helps me to save me a lot of money by fixing it myself rather than going to the auto shop and let the mechanic fix it for me. I just recently ordered a new set of the whole harness with wire and changed it to my Chrysler minivan, but unfortunately, the door is still not able to function, neither by key knobs or the buttons inside the van. When I pressed the button, I heard a lot of sounds (like there are a lot of stones or sand) next to the harness under the 2nd-row seat. May I know if you (or anyone) know how to fix this problem? I couldn't find anyone posting this kind of problem on UA-cam or Google.
This is starting to happen on our 2004 Toyota sienna I think when a mosquito comes near it but its not the problem it gets stuck then a moment later it starts to work. So what could be the problem then? My mom is not a mechanic but my dad is but he is in LA CA but he will come back here to camas Washington in the summer
I need to change the harness, how do you get to the the plug in end on the other side that runs up inside the body.I'm trying to locate exactly where it could be
+Videogamerdaryll It's a bit hard to explain, but: You don't have to take any door trim off. Just pull up the lower sill plate on the side towards the front, then pop out the lower trim on the pillar (column between the front door and the sliding door). You don’t have to completely remove the pillar trim, just pull it out enough so you can undo the electrical connection. You push down on a little tab on the top of the electrical connector and it comes apart easily. The harness is unique for the passenger and drivers side (Dorman 747-310 (Drivers) / 747-311 (Passenger) or MOPAR 4868122AE (Passenger).
+Jim Dandy I had to take the van in for a bunch of repairs for thousand dollars in repairs suspension work. There was a break in the harness on the left that burned-out the module inside the door that cost $700.. They replaced the harness on the driver side as per recall but didn't replace the one on the passenger side they updated the software.. Right now the passenger side is a little sticky I need to figure out what's the best way to lube the tracks
It is not a real metal chain, it just looks like one. It is a plastic protector for the wires underneath it. If you want to use the electric door simply take it out.
Can anyone please help me as the door is making sound to open but not doing anything. Also is there any way we can open the door from inside manually without using auto function as a matter of safety if sometime it needs to be opened by kids from inside. Thanks in advance.
There's no other way to make the wires work without some risk of breaking. Even swinging doors have wires that can break at the joint between the jamb.
OH MY GOD - HOW CHEAP CAN YOU BE? REPLACE THE UNIT AND YOU WONT NEED TO CONSTANTLY NEED TO REPAIR IT. NOTICE HOW STIFF THE SOLDER AREA IS? ITS GOING TO BREAK AGAIN . ITS HAS TO FLEX ! ITS $60 - REPLACE THE ASSEMBLY! ITS AVAILABLE AFTERMARKET!

I am going to try to fix BOTH of my broken doors this weekend. Thanks for the video!
Hi from New Zealand! Very helpful and instructive video, thanks.
I figured as much, my mother in laws t&c did this, the red stripped wire fixed it, thanks for the guidance
Great video thanks just fixed electric door on grand voyager that kept cutting out before it closed. Short easy to follow video !
thanks so much. i got the door to work after a yr of it being inoperable.

Great video. Very well presented and was most helpful on repairing both sliding doors on my daughter's caravan. Kudo's

Do the electric motors in the doors go bad much?
And are the motors located inside the sliding door?
Your videos are great, please keep them coming!

Thank you great help
what is the part called above the harness? the one with a lot of things poking out.
thank you very much !!!!!!!!
How about the buttons on the inside to open and shut them? Both switches just stopped working.TIA
If you wanted to replace the wiring harness, how would you remove the plastic cover on the door pillar?
is there any way you can drive around with your harness unhooked and off?

My mom is also gonna have to sell it quickly before it breaks down but there work to be done like trash on the floor and stickers on the windows
Now the floor is cleaned but the stickers are like super glued!

I might have the same problem. My tailgate does not open when using the little remote, have any ideas why? Is it a wire too? Thanks
Do I need the chain if I don't want to use my electric door

The problem I’m having on my 2013 T&C sliding doors is . Both of them recently stop working I can only open or closed them manually
how much does tthis cost? (do it your seft, or a shop repair?)
How long does it take?
Should have trimmed the solder joint so it wasn't so sharp. File and diagonal cutters
Can anyone please help me as the door is making sound to open but not doing anything. Also is there any way we can open the door from inside manually without using auto function as a matter of safety if sometime it needs to be opened by kids from inside. Thanks in advance.
One of my doors don't want to close with the remote it doesn't make any sound like if it had no electricity. Please help what could it be???
Great Video. Anybody knows the Price to replace complete wire harness?
There's no other way to make the wires work without some risk of breaking. Even swinging doors have wires that can break at the joint between the jamb.
Dorman 747-311 Door Wiring Harness Price $54.89. Webstie - stock wise auto
My sliding doorcloses but then opens back up.
which car is this?
from the tail lights, looks like a 2007 caravan.
So what caused the wire to break? Something tells me they'll be another break in that harness in 6 months or so. Stupid Dodge. :(
how much dose this cost?

I have been trying to find the chain. My wires are fine. But the chain has busted and the wire flop out when the door opens.
