Looks like a great trip Dennis, based on you interview on paddling adventure radio I know you had some interesting times so look forward to that on the next videos. Keep up the great work with the live show..
I remember that video from Brad and was very interested in this route as well. Looking forward to seeing how you document the rest of the trip. Cheers, Dan!
I wear knee high waterproof socks and lightweight water shoes for all my canoe trips. The shoes are like moccasins with grip on the underwater rocks, but also fine for portages. I try to always wet entry/exit my Kevlar canoe, so this combination works great. Never had an issue with overheating- last August temperatures were in the mid to high 30’s Celsius during my trip in Algonquin. At the end of the day, I “peel” them off and let them dry overnight. Next morning they are good to go. I keep a second dry pair with some merino socks for camp - keeps my pack weight down and leaves me dry comfortable feet at days end. Nice video - sourcing routes for summer ‘22 and will add this to the list. Cheers from London.
Hey Scott. Thanks for watching and for the tips on the waterproof socks... I kind of like them. If you ever choose to do this route let me knoa=w as I would be happy to share the maps once they are completed and up on my website.
Great start to the trip Dennis!! Looking forward to the rest. I have worn waterproof insulated socks( Seal Skinz) for early season / late season paddling in chilly water but helps keeps 'sucky muck' and other crap off your feet too ( leeches) in summer.
It’s aboot time you got this trip posted up 😆 Looks like another good one. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series. Now I have to jump over and watch CW chat with Kevin and Kevin
Great video Dennis. Looking forward to the rest of the trip videos. Couple of quick questions. What length double paddle are you using? It looks like a short one. I'm currently using a 150-60 in my Prospector 14 Solo and thinking about downsizing the length some. Also why is you phone in a bracket? are you using it for recording or GPS? Keep up the good job on the video. Thanks.
I enjoy seeing the landscape. Why is so much camera time spent on the face of the canoeist? That’s not what I tune in for. I don’t mind listening but I’d sooner watch the scenery.
We though of doing that but there was another cabin not to far to the right that had a pickup truck parked there. We did not want to invade. plus it looked as if the owner was there within the past 24hour period because there was a pile of food scraps (spaghetti) on the ground just outside the cabin and it looked as if there were old snare traps setup round the bush of the cabin. We did not want to take any chances with the dogs.

Looks like a fun trip. May have to add it to my bucket list of so many other trips I want to do.
Certainly worth the paddle
Great day 1Dennis! This year I started wearing Sealskinz socks and I'm not sure how I like them yet. I'll give them another shot next year👍

Hey Donald. I believe the paddle is a 180 and I use the GPS and an app called Canada Maps as a back up for navigation

point taken
I know the guy who owns that cabin, he says you can camp there no worries
