Lyndsey, this is absolutely gorgeous! I adore poppies! My near obsession with them is fairly recent. I love not only their appearance but also the dichotomy of beautiful, vibrant flowers the color of life being equated with death. Congratulations on your new watercolor brush line! I’m looking forward to their premiere next month. It would be cool if you were chosen to create a watercolor paper line too or maybe a travel watercolor palette. Better yet, both!

Hi Lindsay, the area where I live in coastal Norfolk in England Is known locally as Poppylands. They are everywhere great misty red swathes of them. Such a feature of the summer. I very much enjoyed your painting of them.

Poppies are one of my favourite flowers. I love that they're all a bit different. Looking forward to your brushes and where they will be available. I've ben waiting to buy good brushes, just because there are so many and I don't know which to choose. Cheap ones do what I need them to at the moment. If yours are available in Europe, I'll definitely put them on my list 🥰 As a teacher myself I recognise the teacher in you and value your opinion. You share your pros and cons without making one feel less if they feel differently. All this to say I'd buy your brushes because I trust what you'd use yourself 😊

@@thefrugalcrafter I don't even like ecoline bottles so I guess the liquid wc isn't for me. But to each their own and it is fun to try new stuff.
@@joyfulldj ecoline is dye based and they use a lot of shellack! I don't have experience with the Dr pH martins but I have some smincke aquadrops which are pigment based and work like a charm. Less filler! Maybe try those.
@@w.vangaal1077 thanks for the tip; but I have a palette of schmincke paints, I rarely use m ( oops ) I do love the colors I have for when I need to have a smooth background.

Nice painting Lyndsay. I love the hydrus. You could use the hot press sheet that got contaminated for gouache too.
This is gorgeous..It must be exciting having brushes that you have have chosen to be in a set.The box will look amazing with this painting on the front of it. I love the brush you used throughout ,it’s very versatile.I have been looking for one for a while ,but something keeps popping up.But I am sure I will get one soon.I love watching you.Unlike most artists on here you are an all rounder and can draw and paint anything..Your a very talented young lady .Do any of your children take after you too ?.My Dad used to draw cartoons.When I was about six he taught me to look and draw what I see.So I have had art in my life pretty much all my life.Not confident like you though.Thank you for all you do.It does inspire people ..Love n Light 🥰

Ah, so lovely.
So gorgeous and real-looking with the per-flower color ranges. On rehydrating the Hydrus, I rehydrate my Ph Martin inks with some diluted isopropyl alcohol. I'm wondering if spritzing the rehydrated Hydrus paints a little with alcohol would help dissolve the grainies, if they do have Shelac or whatever in them. Hate to waste pretty paint, so it might be worth a try.

Gorgeous poppies Lindsay! Thank you for sharing this tutorial!! 🤩🥰👍🏾😃🙏🏾 How does the HeroArts liquid watercolors compare to the Dr.pH Martins WC or the Arteza Watercolor brushes? I have three primary colors set of the HeroArts Liquid WCs from past HAMonthly card kits. Love your brushes; I was/am on the fence in purchasing Kristy Rice’s set of WC brushes due to the various colors of her handles, so are yours larger in size than hers? It looked so on camera.

Gosh you are asking me about products I have not used. Im not sure off the hero sets are dye or pigment based but you can use them like I did here either way. You have them so you might as well. The arteza watercolor brushes are stiffer than mine. I actually really like the arteza for gouache and metallic watercolor as they need more push. I don't know about Kristys brushes so I can't say but if you like her work and techniques they will work well for you. My brushes have different fibers depending on the size and use. I havea long bristle cats doing a and juicy large round for painterly work where you want to hold a lot of pigment and water. I have golden taklon on the others for crisp edges and precision so you get all the features in one set. Generally you would need a faux squirrel and a faux sable and a taklon etc from different sets or open stock to pull it together which is fine if you know what you want but it gets expensive. This should be a good balance of performance, quality and value.
Edited to add my largest round is equivalent to an 18 and my big flat is 1" wide.

When is the anticipated release date? coral is one of my fav colors - but it's so hard to get a true color so wasn't surprised to hear you went with always classy burgundy. But now you've made us all curious! Please show the coral handle in 1 of your upcoming vids please!

Thank you for a fun painting, with beautiful colors. Have you tried painting a parachute hibiscus? I can send you a photo if you'd like. Such a bright pink, and frilly petals, and a long hanging stamnos. They are beautiful here in FL.
I've painted several hibiscus flowers but I'm not sure about that one.

Hi Lindsay! LOVE this poppy painting! Question: Do these liquid w.c. take a while to dry out (I know it depends on your climate, but compared to other wet w.c.)?

They are fine capped in bottles although some earthtones separated. On a palette I'd say about the same but they don't re Wet as well.
I would LOVE that as gigantic wallpaper!!! Just thrilling to look at - happiness in two dimensions. Or a shower curtain? But since I can't get those, I'll get those brushes. Edit: GORGEOUS GORGEOUS *GORGEOUS.*

Profit of this design is cropping wise. Easy touch for designteam using it, a poppy can hang off the edge and still look classy. If you are no hero in drawing but have the beautiful peony stamp from altenew that will work perfectly for a poppy base as it has the same texture. Just color it red, noone needs to know it's a peony stamp :P An Annemone stamp will work for this as well, when it comes to flowers, it all comes down to shape and how you can alter it. Call it Artistic license halleluia and so on lol. Realy good excuse to get my fancy sennelier botanical porcelain palette a workout. Thanx. Absolutely agree; poppies make happy.

I was working some poppies in alcohol markers yesterday, with little success *sigh*, but I think I will retry and mix up the pigments more as you've done. 😄

I was wondering if you have ever talked about how you store all of your different artworks? I knkw there have been passing glances in studio tours and when you were talking about how you were drying the daily oil paintings. I am really struggling with what to do with my loose watercolor sheets. I want to get into gouache, which means more sheets, and canvas painting, but I know my space is rather limited.
I use large flat portfolios for a lot if my work. They are like a large flat canvas envelope.
Really beautiful ❤ I just recently got the Dr Ph Martin Bombay Inks set 1, and some of the iridescent colors. Have you used the Bombay Inks or iridescent Inks? There are several different kinds of Dr Ph Martin's Inks and I don't know what the differences are and why there are so many kinds. Art supplies can be confusing. I also found a kuretake brand liquid iridescent ink that, if I'm understanding it correctly, you can add it to your watercolors/Inks and cause them to become iridescent! I'm going to order some of these and try them to find out.
Yes, I have used Dr Ph Martin Bombay and iridescent inks. Those dry waterproof so you want to be careful to clean your brushes and palette after using. I have not used the kuretake but if it is a watercolor medium (like wonsor newton) you can mix them with wayercolor ahead of time and rewet as needed.

Hi Lindsay, I only have like 6 dozen paintbrushes, so I desparately need some more 😁
If they're somewhat affordable, including p&p, to Europe.
However, I only use acrilic paint, so what would you advise? Every now and then I'll dilute the acrilic paint so much with water it comes very close to watercolor paint.
😆 they will be, it was one of the criteria of me designing the set.
