Native English speaker. I am near fluency in French and I’ve just begun studying Spanish. Your channel has encouraged me to not be afraid to make mistakes and remember to flood myself with as much Spanish as I can for my brain to develop that muscle. Thanks man!

How did you get fluent in French?

@@sweethartia not quite fluent, in at about one level below it. I took 4 years in high school and 2 in college. Really just
      1. Writing down and studying words I didn’t know until they got in long-term memory.
      2. Listening to and reading a bunch of content learn how to think in French
      3. Translating things in my mind into French to practice speaking
Takes a long time but a little bit every day will lead to great progress overtime. Hope it works out for u!

@@sweethartia also try to not be too hard on yourself and know, when you’re studying or listening you’re not gonna understand everything. Just try to understand something and make sure to give your brain new activities you enjoy and don’t get stuck too much in one area or in words that you can’t quite remember. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

I've improved a lot recently, so speed isn't necessarily a problem for me anymore. But sometimes it depends on the person. One Mexican guy I talk to all the time speaks very fast, but I've gotten used to him. One the other hand, my friend in Argentina mostly speaks to me in English. But when she does talk Spanish, she's also very fast, but much harder to understand for me. Granted, I still have little trouble with that dialect, but I'm still surprised at how much I end up missing

    • @SpeakSpanishFaster

Yes Argentinian Spanish is difficult but also she just needs to speak with you more in Spanish and you will be good!

¿La palabra "Ya" para los puertorriqueños significa "Vamos?" Recuerdo que una vez fui en un crucero y estaba en el lugar donde van los niños y estábamos jugando un juego. Había una chica detrás de mí en uno de los juegos, y cada vez que me movía lento, decía "Ya" apuntando hacia adelante. Pero en español de México, "Ya" significa el "Already."

Good tips. My problem is listening comprehension right now while trying to learn. I can read and understand most of what I'm reading as I continue to learn words, or if I Read beginner short stories in Spanish, I can understand it, but when it comes to listening the focus sometimes isn't there, and I can't understand what's being said. Good tips again, and I believe I need just need to spend more time and immersion with the language.

I have a question for the host or anyone that is qualified to answer. If the J (hota) in Spanish gives you the English H sound. Example: Julio, Junio etc. The Hota in Spanish gives you the English H sound such as How or Hold etc. Keep in mind this is the Spanish Hota (J). Why in Spanish is Juan pronounced without the common Hota sound although it begins with the Hota?

Should have done immersion and listening instead of watching lots of grammar and vocabulary tutorials from Speak Spanish Faster.
The reason you can't understand anything yet is because you have been studying grammar and vocabulary for hours and hours non-stop each day, lol. It's your fault that you can't understand spoken Spanish. It's because you have not listened to anything and still continue to translate in your head. I'm surprised that a lot of people couldn't understand what you said at the beginning. I would have thought that even doing traditional study you would understand that.

Am I interpreting this video incorrectly or did he just make a video about understanding fast Spanish, made a skit where he pronounced almost nothing correctly, repeated what he said with correct pronunciation which is proof that he could have just spoken properly in the first place, then explained how he speaks Spanish with an accent that doesn't pronounce Spanish words correctly on purpose?... If so, why?... I have been studying and speaking Spanish for a while now, but English is my native language. That'd be the equivalent of me walking around pronouncing English words incorrectly with an accent an that's not even real. "I achti a ideo" instead of "I'm watching a video.".
