i agree I'm thinking the kreeper is just the claw thing on its head and a long skinny spine connecting to it's wings may be a long time ago it latched onto a person and created the myth
That's the plot for the next movie. Amazing. They started with the personal licence plates smack dab in the middle of its big sleep, so he must have had a human he was working with to take care of his dry cleaning, driver's licence changes, kind of like Kanye West's personal assistant. Another plot for a great horror. Having to do West's daily chores, getting babies for his meals, etc.
It's trying to avoid detection. Same reason he wears the outfit. Besides, it probably spent a lot of time souping up that engine. That and I think it keeps the corpses in the back. Easier than carrying all those bodies with it when flying.
He has to take alot of body as he can or his time will run out I think he is looking for something because in 3 you can see in his truck a skull from something weird
The fact he got a license plate that was a abbreviation of “beating you” always makes me laugh I’m like what? Did he go to the dmv and have that license plate custom made? 😂
Even though it seems pedoish. I do wanna state that younger animals compared to older are better eating. Older meat becomes tough and gamey. If the creeper replaces parts..it makes sense it switches parts with viable hosts.
I understand that maybe it took or stole the old death trap from the many humans it’s killed but I can’t grasp how it has fuel for it? Like does it go to the gas station for gas? Does it need tune ups once in a while?😂 I think too deep into how and why it even has a need for a license plate whenever I watch the movie
@@RoanokeGaming i have the answer to this. my friend his dad was a criminal and like creeper he had a car with a license yet he had no drivers license so how did he do it? on Saturdays he would take his 4 sons out driving and go to the car dealer ship were their was old wrecks. he would give one of his sons a screw driver and tell them go get me the license plate off of that car. he probably stole the car and everything he has from the 500 victims he killed IMO the only thing i find dumb is like bro you can fly and carry a body you do it all the time why the need for the truck? simple it was to take the place of the creature since they wanted to reveled the monster later it was completely done for plot purposes because that truck his a modified 1941 Chevy COE (Cab Over Engine) model that came with a flatbed frame. These pickups generally had a six-cylinder engine, but you could also get a four-cylinder if you wanted. those trucks are ancient 41 like i said so how is it still running? this guy a mechanic or something? because back in those days you were lucky if you were going to get 25 000 - 30 000 miles out of a car before a complete engine rebuilt compared to todays car that can see 200 000 miles before having a problem with the engine so the truck his magic IMO probably does not need gasoline because their is no way that thing should still be running 60 years later with no maintenance.
The lady who talked about the song was able to tell the future. She was referring to the fact that the song would be playing when Derry died not that the song summons the creeper or plays when it's near. It's just coincidence that the song played during the car accident. It was more so meant as a warning to Derry, meaning that if he heard the song he needed to run and hopefully he could avoid the predicted death
Or it was a failed attempt by the creeper, so the song played as the creeper planed to kill him then. But they got away at that attempt so the creeper needs to try again and the song will play again...
A common theme is he loves fear I think when the sister showed courage he still wanted her but the lack of fear disgusted him so the brother was the best option
Oh, she was plenty scared. She was just useless to him. Nothing she had was what he needed. Assuming the theory is correct, it's possible that the human wanted to take her offer but the puppeteer organism said no, hence why it freaks out briefly.
@@Bluesit32 very very interesting dude! You could tell he wanted her. Why would the creeper human side wait that long. Then the overlord organism shut that shit down. God thank you for putting this into my mind. I love it.
Fun fact: Originally, the Creeper was supposed to have dialogue in the movie, after he kills the cat lady, he's supposed to say, "she don't smell too good, Darry" but they cut it from it the movie. if you look closely at his mouth, you can see his lips moving a little
He was originally supposed to speak in part 2 too but they said it scarier that he doesn’t speak and they removed the scene but they said they would have him speak in part 3, then the director went thru what he did and it didn’t happen
@bryan diaz varela A lot of this 'Gang-stalking' stuff is undiagnosed or untreated Schizophrenic's delusions. That Chapter has a good video on it, and so does Just a Robot.
I guess, when those victims of eBay gang stalkers, was on crack too, that’s WHY they went to the fbi. eBay 6 executives- cbs Boston. Oh, I guess the former head of the FBI Los Angeles division, TedGunderson, was on crack too, since he exposed it and tried to stop it, back in the day. Don’t worry about it, complicated criminals stuff, too advance for you.
Actually, my personal head cannon for the song and death visions is that it produces a psychic electromagnetic field, and the past victims inside it are the ones sending out visions and the song. The song is some past victim trying to warn us.
I always figured the crows flock around the creeper because they are scavengers and the creeper is not a threat to them. It's possible that the crows in the creepers territory have passed the knowledge of it down through multiple generations as crows and other members of the corvid bird family are known to do. It's also possible that the creeper has made sure to leave tasty bits behind to encourage the crows to stay close as humans in the past have seemed to be distressed or even frightened of the black birds.
The old cat lady was the most badass of any of the characters in the first film. The way she just waltzed into her house after the creeper with that gun lol...
Hell yes!! That old woman had NO fucks to give when her babies were being threatened by the brute!! That old cat woman was none other than the much loved cinematic ICON Eileen Brennan
The end of the 2nd movie was infuriating. After Jack has all but torn the Creeper to pieces and it goes dormant, they completely ignore the flaming truck in background. Rather than burning the Creeper to ash, they decide to keep it in the barn until it inevitably wakes up in 23 years. It felt like they were really trying to troll the audience.
maybe its fire resistant or immune idk just a theory they really should have bind it with even stronger stuff they seen this things strength why would they use flimsy bindings, poor writing?
@@babadraga3114 All depends on the grade of rebar or even the grade of steel that you would use to secure it. Properly hardened and treated steel can easilt get over 100,000 psi tensile strength. Mild steel can even reach 70k. Nothing that was shown in the movies says that it extreme strength can get to that point. In regards to the original comment. The father wants revenge and has been consumed by it.
No matter how many times I've watched the first movie, hearing Darry's painful screams at the end of the movie until finally dies still makes me feel bad. 😣
There is also a (somewhat underwhelming tbh) Jeepers Creepers comic that shed some more light on the creature´s backstory. Basically, it is around at least since the Aztecs, was worshipped by them as a "Dragon God" and they sacrificed humans and offered the body parts and organs to the creature. They did this to prevent the creature from actively preying on them, since it is implied that it hates humans for some unknown reason and is not only hunting them for nourishment. It may even originate from the South American continent itself for all we know. At some point, it also got involved with the Cherokees and they basically emulated what the Aztecs did. The Cherokees even went so far to give it a name, "Uktena", after the horned serpent from native American mythology. It is also revealed by a Cherokee that it is the "most feared and respected of all the dark creatures", implying that there are more of them. Oh, and the creature is also responsible for annihilating the Roanoke colony and it is confirmed in the comic that its previous victims sort of live on in it.
@@thelionofjudah5318 One can definitely imply a connection to the Satan from Christian mythology, since the Aztec Dragon God is depicted as more of a serpent in some panels of the comic run and Uktena is literally a serpent.
Honestly, there is nothing cooler than being able to possibly explain such a creature like the Creeper using simple biology and science. Very cool, keep up the great work!
I personally think the creeper is really the wings, head claws, and maybe a part running down the spine. I mean it was able to exist without a head and can replace body parts so it'd make sense if the humanoid body was like a puppet the real demon used to feed.
Interesting theory. Seems like it would be something medieval. Makes me think of some sort of demon from the Necronomicon. It’s nice to tie all the horror icons to the same universe.
Yes! It would make so much since!!! that it's the spine as if it's the whole nerves and generator for the body and every other body part we've seen be detached but not the weird web thing that looks like some type of mind control thing.
The creeper chosed Darry after he saw the house of horrors. Seen the dying man, bodies pinned around the ceiling and especially seeing the missing couple that Darry and Trish discussed about in the car prior to the church. Because of this, Darry's reeked of fear. That's why the creeper taken Darry's eyes.
It knew that ONE of them had the parts it wanted, but it was unsure who. So when they went to call the police, the Creeper goes through the laundry in the back of the car, sniffing each one to try and pin point which one it smelled. Even that wasn't enough, so it needed to smell the twins at the police station to make its choice.
I know it's been a year! But this is a misconception about the creeper. He doesn't feed on fear itself. He uses it as a tool to sense healthy body parts in his victims. I understand the confusion because he uses fear and has shown pleasure in smelling it but he will kill anyone regardless of fear for a healthy body part. In Derry's case the creeper had a bad set of eyes, he smelled his fear and knew he had a great pair of eyes he could use. He wasn't going to take his sister regardless of what she said to the creeper because he was taking Derry no matter what. And the sister is shown to have bad eyesight since her glasses are briefly shown in the movie.
In a deleted scene when he has the old lady lifted up he actually said something along the lines of "she ain't doing good Darius" in a old west accent really wish they kept that in
I'm hoping they'll continue making this movie and without its creator, cause 1 the guys convicted child molester and 2 more money or not he fucked up the 3rd movie
@@trashking945 He was allowed to make all three, Salva was convicted in 1988 and his victim, Nathan Forrest Winters organized a protest at his first big film premier, that of Powder in 1995 (produced by Disney- Though they claimed they only discovered his conviction *after* production had begun). Salva was sentenced to three years, served 15 months and completed his parole in 1992, nine years later, he'd have his biggest hit with Jeepers Creepers. I'm not defending him in any way, what he did was reprehensible but I'm left to wonder if the success of Powder (despite the controversy stemming from his crime) somehow set the studios "at ease" for lack of a better term and he continued to get work.
I always wondered why at the end of the second film, they didn't just chop it up and either bury the pieces or cremate them then bury them... It's incredible to think that this thing has been doing the rounds for centuries and no generation has managed to destroy it and here we have that one generation which seems to lock into it's possible weakness and fails to exploit it.
It seems they have not done anything to it while in hibernation because as the ending scene suggests, they benefitted from it first for 23 years!..Imagine say a conservative 10 tourists a day paying 5 bucks a day each everyday for 23 years? That's almost 420 thousand dollars!...Not bad...not bad at all!... Then at the last moment before waking up good ol' homemade harpoon would do its job pretty darn well....haha
My cousins used to torture me with these movies as a kid. Now I love both of them, and became fascinated with what the Creeper really is. You're one of few people to actually cover it. And a giant shoutout to totally ignoring the third movie!! They tried to wrap up loose ends but it was just too much lol
Watch John Carpenter's The Thing. The Alien becomes you, making you D.E.A.D. on the spot, and your friends don't even know it, as your body is now a host. And the horrowing screech it makes. You also have Warhammer 40k Daemons, but that's a whole other barrel of fish.
Same, My dad thought it was fun to watch this during movie night when i was a kid, it tramatized me, but later I gave up on fear, and want to know how to kill it.
I’ve always wondered what the deal was with that weird thing on the back of the Creeps head; saying it’s an alien parasite on an ancient human body just sounds so convincing. the parasite reminds me of the Las Plagas parasite from Resident Evil 4.
He is powerful but his powers werent explored qs much..For a entity that can regenerate speaks of its powers and the fact that it heals like wolverine . Plus its immortal even if you kill it before the nexr 23 year cycle begins meaning you can kill him in the cycle then and there but it will still come back after 23 years
I particularly love the part where he states that you are physically capable of playing Raid: Shadow Legends on your PC and just leaves it at that. With the implications that he would never do that and instead play games more worth your time.
The birds are all scavengers and giving how picky an eater the creeper is, they're hanging around for a huge feast. On a meta level, this character is a terrifying insight into a human predator's self image.
@@Bluesit32 , those corpses look like they've been hollowed out and dried, I'm guessing the organs not eaten where removed, like in a mummification so there'd be something. These are animals who raid human garbage for leftover take-out after all. Quick, any anthropologists/avian biology experts in the comments wanna weigh in? I'd love to hear from people who actually know this stuff vs me and too much Nation Geographic.
Personally, I had never seen previews or knew anything about this movie before viewing it. At said point in the movie I was just thinking this was a normal guy and to me that's the scariest part. People are actually doing this kind of stuff all around the world right now. Once I saw the creature, totally blew the scare factor.
They actually had to pay Unsolved Mysterious for that opening scene because it plagiarized one of their scenes shot for shot here’s the comparison ua-cam.com/video/O-pmaY2j8w0/v-deo.html
This, and when you see his shadowy silhouette where the old cat lady’s scarecrow was supposed to be 😮💨 I was 7 when I first saw the movie and my family literally was going on a trip to my moms hometown which is surrounded by crops and farmland and that was the scene we left on 😭 I had no closure and was scared during the whole ride 🥲
In the second film, they portray the creeper as more savage, which makes sense , since time is quickly running out for it, and at this point , its getting as much food as it can before time runs out and goes back into hibernation. Interestingly the film time line goes, one Three, two.
The 3rd movie should have started off where part 2 ended. They missed a perfect golden opportunity to keep continuity making a phenomenal movie. Wish they would have picked up where the part 2 left off. The actual 3rd movie that we got could have easily been like a 4th installment / prequel to part 2.
Random Comment: Justin Long gave the best horror performance I have ever seen in a film. Go to the scene where he slides down the tunnel and finds the body. He did the most realistic depiction of abject terror that has even been captured. Eye's bulging to the point it looks uncomfortable, the sweating, stammering. After re-watching it, and seeing just how good he was in that scene, it will kind of ruin most performances from other actors in all other horror for you. Most people can't seem to really take themselves to that extreme place you would be in during a moment of something truly messed up happening. It's strange no one ever mentions how stunning he was here.
Justin Long is one of my favorite actors for this reason. He is able to portray such an amazing range of emotions effortlessly. I never noticed the mastery of that particular scene until you pointed it out. Another scene or film in general that really impressed me was Drag me to hell. That ending scene where he realizes what he has in his hand.. I could literally see the gears turning in his head as that character and it scared the shit out of me. He's fantastic.. fits into any genre flawlessly.
Well, if Geralt will get himself involved, he'd probably shred it to pieces and store separately. Would probably even ask Yennefer to seal the containers with powerful magic.
I straight up never noticed that the organ on the back was moving so independently until you specifically showed it while talking about said organ. Knowing that it is likely a parasitic organism makes more sense and arguably makes it much more terrifying. Yes the supernatural angle alone in very unsettling because it dives deep into our fears of the unknown like most of Lovecraft's work(just an example) but knowing what it is and knowing how it it works even theorizing how it works still makes it terrifying. I also love how you don't want to mention the third film, most understandably don't and I think that's because the supernatural angle was beating us the viewers over the head instead of be more ambiguous like the first two films. Still hope you'll do Harbinger Down soon.
@@arctic3007 It was inspired by the Thing, the practical effects studio that did the practical effects for the 2011 prequel did it after the producers wanted all the practicals replaced by cgi. The creatures don't copy its host like the Thing but sort of merge them into a single biomass.
@@lupusumbra8676 it still felt like a low budget clone to me, the cgi was not good imo, 2011 was better but idr when HD came out and in too lazy to google it
@@arctic3007 Harbinger Down came out in 2015 and like I said it was inspired by the Thing. The freezing isolated setting and the fact that they had to use something other than guns to fight back are the only things that really scream the Thing in my opinion. Yes there is the crash landing on earth from space however it isn't an alien. Now on the CGI used in the film, very little was actually used that I saw, all the creature effects were animatronics and such. Budget was roughly $350,000 and it was crowdfunded. While slow in my opinion it was a good film and a good homage to John Carpenter's horror classic.
I like the idea that the "Creeper" is the winged webbing that runs along the back & head. However there has to be some kind of supernatural aspect to the creature since the dagger does seem to have mystical properties. Also, I think the Jeepers Creepers song was one of those "coincidences" that was big in the Final Destination movies. Like "Death" didn't make John Denver play on the radio, but it was still a prophetic sign.
In the scene where Jack is welding the creeper's dagger to the metal rod/rail, I think he's actually beating TF out of it because of anger and the need for revenge for the loss of Billy. That said, he knows that he has the creeper's very own weapon to use against it but the double edged sword is that he hates everything about the creeper so he's beating it in regards and or a mental visualization to actually killing the creeper. Mom's aren't the only ones who gain hell's wrath for their children, and Jack literally tore the creeper apart, kept his ass as a trophy for the death of his son, and was waiting for the MF to wake up from hibernation so he could see his own dagger straight to the face all over again to start day one off. Don't EVER fuck with a parent's child, even the supernatural will suffer.
Dis true. Never mess with anybodys kids. Its those kids that keep crazy in check. Take the kids out of the equation, all bets are off. Welcome to 'Ima eff you up town ' cause I got nothin left to lose. I will gladly catch this case for revenge and do things to your body they don't even have names for yet. Some people aren't like that but most are, i think.
In the terrible third film and the comic book, we learn that the victims of the creeper are still alive on a spiritual level being able to communicate with the living to warn them about the creeper.
Honestly that is exactly what it is it's a connection between that person do to the electromagnetic field that it produces that opens a door between the world of the living and the world of the Dead the creature just doesn't know about it.
Roanoke Gaming oh yeah btw the original script for the third movie the body while it was hibernating is like a cocoon. Like when he woke up he Shed out that body into a freshly new body
I'm thinking it's like a head crab . But with wings. And when it takes a body to control. It's like a symbiote like venom. To offer power in order for it to live. And it explains why the creature needs body parts. As the symbiote consumes body parts overtime. And maybe if it doesnt eat enough or if it takes too much damage, then it would go into hibernation to save the body its hosting. Maybe the body is in control .maybe the human is . I think they share the same interest, as the creeper shows sadistic traits that line up with the creatures needs to take specific parts of a body ...I didnt mean to rant on .
from the comics it seems to have arisen during the aztecs time so maybe if it was organic it might be a victim of the aztec sacrifice raids that found the symbiote parasite it would explain it hate for humanity and its hunting cycle while keeping its human traits even a sense of style and humour along with his sadism
Your theory makes so much sense. Great breakdown of the creature. By the way.....placing the creature(while in it's cocooned state) in a large enough vat of sulfuric acid to be completely dissolved over time should bring an end to it's reign of terror.
I've only seen these 2 movies once, and I was a teenager at the time. There was a Halloween movie marathon going on one of the channels at my grandfather's house. They were some of the first serious-horror movies I'd watched.
The first one holds a special place in my heart. It was filmed mostly on highschool road in dunnellon florida, while i was goin to highschool. I remember seein that car and that truck almost everyday. Good memories.
This movie came along at a great point. At the time, almost every (mainstream) horror movie was about (relatively) normal human psycho-killers. When we rented this one, we had not seen any promotional material revealing the nature of the bad guy. So, when we went along for the ride, it seemed like this was just another leather-face clone. The reveal that it was actually a monster was just awesome, and felt like a great callback to some of the 80's horror movies that had cool creature effects. Just awesome overall.
Exactly, I feel like the majority never really gives this movie props for that.. the fact that the plot twist was he was a monster .. no one saw that coming.
23:00 actually the crows are extremely smart creatures. The actual explanation for this is that much like in reality crows are smart enough to notice repeating events such as wolves killing a deer and leaving a carcass behind for them to nibble on. A very likely and not far fetched scenario is that they just know that where the creeper goes there's bound to be some food left around for them.
I think you missed the part, @@RoanokeGaming, where the Jeeper Creepers monster was missing it's entire upper left side of it's head. Did you not notice that those many super long "hairs" were not hairs, but looked to be tendrils of some sort? Which means your hypothesis of the Jeepers Creepers monster is a "puppet monster" could very well be accurate.
The victim found in the church had his lungs taken. Thats why the psychic says "it's needs lungs so it can breathe, and eyes so it can see". It's a call back to earlier as well as subtly telling us what will be taken from Derry.
What's cool about this is there are three people who have played the Creeper: Jonathan Breck wo is the Creeper, Justin Long who played him for the ending shot at the end of the first movie, and Al Santos who played Dante, because if you look closely at the 4th wall break when he takes his head as it's forming into Jonathan's head it's still him in full costume.

How to kill The Creeper? Once it's hibernating, complete incineration. If any parts don't burn, don't assume it's dead. Seal the parts in the center of a large cement block. Then either burry the block or sink it in the ocean.
or you could have a limp and ugly sex doll for 23 years and harpoon it on the last day like the guy in the movie. If you think i got it wrong, just google the director
You know, I feel that Jack could have simply incinerated the Creeper once it went dormant. Or feed it through a wood chipper. Dissolve it in lye? Powderize and use it for fertilizer? Anything but keeping it intact. At least encase the bastard in some concrete or something.
I always thought that it wasn’t fear he was smelling but something more like pheromones. It was looking for prey that matched it and n a genetic or tissue level. Kind of like when someone has an organ transplantation. Doctors try and find the closest match. It has animal parts as it can also absorb animals as well.
I like your analysis. I remember seeing another interesting theory derived from a comic. It explains that the Creeper is actually alien in nature and that it came to Earth during the Aztec/Mayan era. They assumed it was a god and offered human sacrifices to it.
The more I think about it, the more I realize how similar the Creeper is to Pennywise, it comes out every 20 something years to hunt, has been alive for a long time, feeds on fear(or uses it to hunt), and has supernatural abilities and powers

Ugh I know! That was the only part besides the dumping the bloody body in a sheet that actually scared me. Knowing once it went silent darry was dead
Dragon god could also be depicted as Satan
@@thelionofjudah5318 One can definitely imply a connection to the Satan from Christian mythology, since the Aztec Dragon God is depicted as more of a serpent in some panels of the comic run and Uktena is literally a serpent.

I personally think the creeper is really the wings, head claws, and maybe a part running down the spine. I mean it was able to exist without a head and can replace body parts so it'd make sense if the humanoid body was like a puppet the real demon used to feed.
I agree
Good call
Interesting theory. Seems like it would be something medieval. Makes me think of some sort of demon from the Necronomicon. It’s nice to tie all the horror icons to the same universe.
@Joseph Stalin dead space was inspired by event horizon. but maybe this also.
Darryl was kind of a pussy where as his sister was headstrong.
@@Bluesit32 Which makes sense since they' re twins, they must have a very similar scent
No, he had the right histology for the Creeper to take and assimilate in his own histology.

@@arctic3007 It was inspired by the Thing, the practical effects studio that did the practical effects for the 2011 prequel did it after the producers wanted all the practicals replaced by cgi. The creatures don't copy its host like the Thing but sort of merge them into a single biomass.

The freezing isolated setting and the fact that they had to use something other than guns to fight back are the only things that really scream the Thing in my opinion.
The idea of "throw it in a box and bury it deep" just leads to the death of archeologists

And it explains why the creature needs body parts. As the symbiote consumes body parts overtime. And maybe if it doesnt eat enough or if it takes too much damage, then it would go into hibernation to save the body its hosting.
Maybe the body is in control .maybe the human is . I think they share the same interest, as the creeper shows sadistic traits that line up with the creatures needs to take specific parts of a body

I've only seen these 2 movies once, and I was a teenager at the time. There was a Halloween movie marathon going on one of the channels at my grandfather's house. They were some of the first serious-horror movies I'd watched.
The real Creeper was the director all along.
Birky Boi 😂 i just found out about him yesterday..like 🙃

Oof
Oh no....
Honestly anymore I can't help but look at The Creeper as a reputation of director and his perverted desires.
The first one holds a special place in my heart. It was filmed mostly on highschool road in dunnellon florida, while i was goin to highschool. I remember seein that car and that truck almost everyday. Good memories.
That's creepy that it was filmed here in Florida didn't know Florida had roads and scenery like that creepy and at night
Would be interesting if the Creeper were an alien although I'd say he's probably more a demon that's been here since biblical times.
You may reeeeeaaallly enjoy this analysis my astute friend

I think the creature feeds on its host body while in hibernation. That's part of why it needs new body parts.
Exactly, I feel like the majority never really gives this movie props for that.. the fact that the plot twist was he was a monster .. no one saw that coming.
that's true will never forget when I first saw this movie with my cousins i was 11 lol i was like whoooa, intrigued and scared shitless 😎
As a kid the bus Decapitation in 2 used to scare the hell out of me
Hold onto your head!
The Creeper is simply the symbolic projection of Victor Salva's predatory nature.
And perhaps unintentionally, Salva was able to depict the fury and rage expressed by a parent towards the predator of their child

The victim found in the church had his lungs taken. Thats why the psychic says "it's needs lungs so it can breathe, and eyes so it can see". It's a call back to earlier as well as subtly telling us what will be taken from Derry.
This movie scared the HELL out of me when I was a kid, but no other horror movie did.

The real creeper is the director.
They're always ripping my head off because theirs got damaged.
Hahahahaha. Awesome.

All separately too, place it in the most extreme parts of the earth or space.
If you can’t do that, guess you’ll just have to call the SCP foundation
Take it to detroit
23 years is enough for a person to come with idea to throw the Creeper into the lava or something like that. But, movie logic.
Hell. You dont need to go that far. Just head to any local funeral home and toss it in the crematorium.

I was thinking the same thing.
So many horror movie problems could be solved with a wood chipper and a large, open vat of acid.
