Anyone who has Wodehouse stories interpreted by you to listen to can never despair, even in difficult times. How this guy could write! Every sentence a gem. And your performance is so perfect and so superbly enjoyable that I can listen to each story for multiple times. Are you a professional actor or just incredibly talented or both? Thank you so much for this invaluable gift to all Wodehouse fans out there ! !
Just yesterday I wondered if we might hear from you soon. I am delighted to find a new story from my favorite voice for P.G. Wodehouse! Many thanks from a German fan! ❤
I was delighted by the simile involving 'G K Chesterton falling on a sheet of tin'. I imagine Chesterton (who had no illusions about his size) was probably heartily amused, if he heard it. Also, it's a fascinating sidelight on social history, and how things have changed, that a family that could afford to keep a parlourmaid could be considered so socially inferior that Cedric Mulliner is positively Red Revolutionary for marrying into it!
@Trickynickymarts Not strictly relevant, but you might enjoy the following quotation: 'I've always made it a rule not to know anyone below a certain standard. One must draw the line somewhere, and I draw it at people who keep a general servant'. (The socially-climbing Mrs Duff-Whalley, in O. Douglas's 'Priorsford', published in 1932).
There he is, stuck in the window with a cat clawing at his leg, and all she can say is, you need a wife to take care of you! I burst out laughing at that! Thank you for narrating some of my favourite stories from my all-time favourite storyteller. I'd love to hear Heavy Weather or Pigs Have Wings narrated by you. The Empress of Blandings is an absolute icon!
Well spotted! You are quite right, it was a mis-read and should have been sixteen shillings and eight pence. Sorry to all. Maybe something to be said for AI?

Yes, of all the things to fall on tin.
What, you have no parlour maid?
@@Trickynickymarts Alas, no! Not even what Oswald Bastable calls 'a General'. How inferior can one get?

@@katyvdb5993 Ha! Still plenty of Mrs Duffs to be found now just with different measures!
Forget Dostoyevsky. Wodehouse is the author for the thinking person.

Have to come back to this later, wife's talking at me and dog's barking at fireworks.
Early morning?

Sixteen shillings and eighteen pence is seventeen and six pence

Did he say, "sixteen shillings and eighteen pence." Isn't that, 17/6😅
@@mikewilliams4438 quite right! It actually read, eight pence. It's not AI!
Thank you for being a human. Just escaped an American, (ai?) proclaiming, "p g WOEd house. Good grief!
Its very clever but annoying too! Similar to driverless cars, almost as good for some of the time.
The 't' of 'often' should be soft
Both pronunciations are acceptable. ❤
@jillsy2815 OK, if you say so, but that was I, as a non- English speaker was taught. 💔
