Honestly, I've never understood the hype of luxury handbags. A bag is a bag. It carries your stuff, and at most, complements your outfit. In terms of actually practical use, you probably only need 2 maximum. I've literally had the same one since I was 12, and since it's black, it goes with pretty much everything. It's really crazy how consumerism culture has made us transform bags into a status symbol, and something that constantly needs replacing and that you always 'need' more of.
i agree! personally i carry everything in a backpack. i've got two: one smaller, fully black, and one bigger, dark-blue with pins and trinkets, and i just wear either one that fits the outfit. each of them was worth less than 30$. and i'm happy and comfortable! backpacks have more space than most bags, plus they're much heathier for the back and spine ✌️

Designer items WERE luxury at one point in time, people who own vintage designer from decades ago are still in pretty much top quality and are still in amazing shape and condition, but people who have bought designer items from the past few years have complained about the quality when it first arrived especially with brands like Chanel that have constant price-increases despite being a multi-billion-dollar company.
When I was in fashion school we did a little study to test how visually important logos were. We showed a group of people a selection of photos of garments from different famous brands, 30 seconds for each photo. In some photos the logo was very visible and in others it was small or kinda hidden. We used an eye tracking software to map out where people were looking at and for how long, then asked a few questions about the photos. The results we got were that regardless of how small the logo was, it was the first thing people would look at, and for the longest amount of time. Even if the garment was very complicated and interesting, some people couldn't remember what color the clothing was but knew exactly what brand it was from. 🤷
Reminds me when everyone was crazy about Birkenstock. In Germany these too are considered house shoes. And paired with those high white socks I just could not think about my dad who's been doing this every summer for twenty years.
This is how I treat them but outside the house, they are my outside slippers mainly worn when I have blisters from other shoes 😅 although mine are from 2008 and literally crumbling
Yes that’s everywhere dearie…..they’re still not HIGH FASHION…..middle schoolers aren’t high fashion…..this wasn’t what she was saying….being popular or if something is trending doesn’t mean it’s considered HIGH fashion 🙄 she said it was trending again not that they were haute couture 🙄🤣😂
The thing i love about some of these coture brands is how wild and quirky the designs got yet still looked beautiful and you just cant find that in cheaper clothing without it looking like a spirt Halloween costume. I hate seeing people buy coture and its just so plain like whyd you spend 50k on a white shirt
Living in NY from California I was shocked with the amount of uggs people were wearing because I thought they had fallen out of fashion back in 2011. Now being here for awhile I realize New Yorkers don’t wear it for fashion but because our feet get so damn cold in the winter
Yeahhhh.. I never wanted them until I started living in Germany and just cared for something comfy and cozy on my feet😩 plus a shoe like uggs are perfect for somewhere where walking is more common
"Fashion is not about money, it's not about prestige, it's not about class, it's about having an identity, and the trick for me is through pop music, through make up, through femininity, to try to encourage young people, no matter who you are, or where you come from, harness your identity" -Lady Gaga.
As someone that loves fashion/design i think people looking at brands for the name rather than the designer and the cuts of garments and what collections in themes and messages offer, are only there so they can buy alittle bit of confidence when they were the brand's name. (IE they're in it for the wrong reason) Something interesting with Demna at Balenciaga recently is having collections that point the finger at mindless brand name spending, holding the mirror up to the customer by presenting outlandish proportions and clothing literally dragged in mud and dirt
One thing I do love UGG for, is they have a wider size range for women than most shoes. My wife wears a size 15, and I can get her some cute stuff there at least.
Shoes thankfully are one of the most inclusive of all sizes of any fashion products. However, luxury brands are far worse at offering clothes for anyone above size 8 and it's rare to find anything at even size 12 which is even below size 16, the average American female size. So it's really targeting a certain group of people and even over the years of more inclusivity in other brands, luxury brands have yet to show anything besides minor improvement
Wow I’m a size 11, and I thought I had a hard time finding cute shoes. If anyone has any tips for finding cute shoes (not just athletic shoes, but cute heels) for girls with a size 10 and up, pls let me know 🙏
@@bethansullivan1775 no offense but by American standard most overweight people are seen as poor people bc only in America is junk food cheaper than regular food. So most people of these sizes wouldn't be able to afford designer nor would they need to foolishly waste their humble paycheck on unnecessary goods (kinda how some people from "hoods" are stereotyped)
For the comment section: I don't feel like she made enough of an emphasis on the difference between Haute Couture and prêt-à-porter (Ready to wear). Most of the items she's talking about in the video that "aren't worth the price" are prêt-à-porter which is essentially mass produced garments from couture houses (so not too different than fast fashion. it's based on a generic size range, like fast fashion, where as Haute Couture is literally sewn for your body). She is correct that these items are not worth it, but I don't feel like she really went into why these aren't VS Haute Couture. Whether Haute Couture is "fashionable" or not is up to your opinion, but you should know the difference so when you walk into a Gucci store you know not to call one of the sweaters that they have in the store "haute couture"...
yessss!!! i was searching for a comment like this. haute couture and ready to wear are such different things!!! not only quality wise but also in terms of "carzyness"
Oh my god seriously! Like why make a whole video about something you don't know about and not actually do research?? Take some notes?? This is not an analysis or video essay or anything other than a stream of thoughts that was edited without noticing all of the contradictions. Uggs are literally the same price as all the large shoe designers. Why jump from uggs to balenciaga and yeezys, when the better comparison is nike or puma etc? Ugg even has a cheaper offshoot that many buy to dupe the nicer uggs.
I’ve never fallen for branding on clothes making them fashionable. I use to look down on women and teens obsessed with designer brands, including my second step mom who owns probably around a million dollars worth of handbags alone (she’s been collecting since she was 15 in the 90s). As I’ve grown up and become more aware of how judgmental I can be, I changed my outlook. It’s my step mom’s hobby to collect designer bags and if it makes her happy and she can afford it then why should I harp on her.
I really think it's still very much a status symbol. It says "hey, I can afford to drop tons of money of trendy designer items." And then we all convince ourselves to get dupes. I'm itching to buy a knock-off Deisel bag right now. I do still love couture and conceptual pieces - but in what world is a basic cardigan worth $300? How can a long leather jacket be worth $6,600? I bought one at a thrift store for like $20. There is just no way, and as many have pointed out - brands like Chanel are using cheaper materials and finishes on their bags which have only increased in price.
My father side of the family, which I don't keep strong bonds with, was what people consider "old money". The weird thing is that even with all the money they had, I never saw them using brand items. My grandmother said, with all her rich people attitude, "nothing more ordinary than someone trying to prove the money they have" about some expensive sneakers. Maybe was that, or maybe it was to realise that this luxury brands are made on the same place as the cheaper ones, that makes me realize that the only people who will impress with those are highly insecure ones 😅
Definitely some prices are just paying for a brand name 🙄 but some in the mid/low range actually have great quality. That's why my ass is shopping at Costco to get Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica, Columbia, and Calvin Klein, etc. at half retail 😜
Fashion isn’t fun anymore. I used to be so obsessed with it but once you realise that it always just goes around in circles u kinda loose interest in it. I decided to just stick to an aesthetic I identify with and now I’m happy with whatever I wear.
I've had people walk up to me and confuse my 10$ bag for MKs... I get the style looked similar but there was no MK on that bag (or any emblem) . Either you like it or not, other than that go for quality...At this point brands are just chasing profit margin with drop of quality/ safe working conditions and yet people keep buying
I feel like really good fashion is the outfits that make the 'moment'. Marilyn Monroe's happy birthday dress, the breakfast at Tiffany's with Audrey Hepburn outfit, JLo deep V green dress. These outfits define moments that people remember. I don't know the brands but I remember the whole outfit. I don't care about the logo but how the outfit is put together. The met gala with the Catholic theme lives rent free in my mind. I feel bad that it's about the designers name than it is about the clothes and art itself. It gives a very ego-trip vibe.
Besides the prices and all, for me some pieces are more art than sth you rly would wear. And I rly like weird looking stuff to wear. (still I wouldn't spend that much money on it 💀) but I enjoy watching rly bizarre fashion shows with clothes that are not made to rly wear
actually, i really like their most baroque/flowerly designs (think harry styles' style). But yeah, they often juts throw their logo all around the place and that's very tacky to me.
I actually really like the more unique stuff Gucci makes because it’s fun and different. But I’m not paying that much money for something I could find a similar aesthetic to in a thrift store 💀.
Also fun thing i learned about luxury glasses is one company owns them. Luxottic. They own sears optical, sunglass hut pearlvision, oakleys, costa, ray bans ect, All the same materials are used throughout all their glasses. They have a huge monopoly
I’ve had Chanel earrings since 2016 and don’t even protect them well , I’ve had zero tarnishing or anything bad at all . There’s certainly things that aren’t worth it but you kind of have to know who does what well .
Yeah, quality first. Tons of brands, including chanel, push out low quality at a high price point because of their brand name and people who don't know quality buy the shit items. But there are good quality items too, that are worth more money. It takes a smart eye.
Although a lot of people are gonna hate Zoe for being so raw on a public platform also for calling their favs just "expensive" , but i love her for this, like someone had to say it, and she did!!
overhyped, uncomfortable or unfitting, and definitely overpriced. but.....society still sees it as a luxury and status symbol so i don't think it would stop being marked up more than 10x the actual production costs.
I don't care what anyone says, I like Doja's new crazy looks. Creative, sometimes hilarious, and eye catching. It's not for you, it's for her, you're not gonna like everything she wears but we know she ain't boring.
@@pukefiend right? Like maybe you wouldn't wear it and can't see the appeal in her outfits. Even with celebrities who dress "Normal" it's the same thing. But Doja Cat does it with such uniqueness and why shouldn't she? She can afford to be silly with her wardrobe. She can look like a baddie one day and a walking ruby the next day. She can do it all and will do it all. Cuz why not?
@@pukefiend I have felt this for so long, not even just limited Doja cat but I feel like everyone on social media preaches about individuality and uniqueness but the moment a celebrity is unique in a way they don’t like suddenly it’s “weird” or “unfashionable” or “what we’re they thinking”
Also the fact that so many of these luxury brands are not actually well made anymore or get away with doing some shady shit to say they are still made in, lets say France for example and lets use the classic quilted Chanel purse as an example. The majority of the purse is sewn and put together in China, then shipped to France where the zipper pull and maybe the chain for the handle is put on, and they have now reached the "bare minimum" a piece must be manufactured in country to not have to disclose that it was almost entirely made in China. Also the purse has continued to go up in price, but is no longer plated in gold or anything like that. I have yet to see something that is high end actually be deserving of its price tag.
I respect you for adding doja's red crystal look in the thumbnail, because no matter how much the other channels try to Gaslight me I maintain my stance that the dress did not give✨
I also think that watching Paris is Burning can lend a lot to an understanding of brand names and why they are so coveted by the people who have and the people who have not.
Love you Zoe I’ve been watching you for years and you are honestly one of the best UA-camrs on this platform; you’ve come such a long way and I can’t wait to see how much you will grow in the future. 😁 always stay happy and healthy LUV YA❤❤❤❤❤❤
My mom saved up to buy her dream Chanel bag and it literally ripped within the first year and she had to send it in for repair. -.- These brands make most of their money with their ready-to-wear collection, as well as cosmetics and perfumes because these are more accessible to the masses, and that stuff is produced in the same factories as everything else. Really disappointing. It's similar to when you first find out that the brands COS, Monki, Weekday, & Other Stories, Cheap Monday, and ARKET are all owned by H&M, and that it's just marketing that makes them appear different. :/
Being fashionable is about keeping up with trends and buying whats new ( or whatever some corporate trend forecaster has told you to like that season). Being stylish is about buying pieces that say something about you regardless of the brand, trend, clout or price; I think most people aim for this but fall prey to trendy impulse buying. Some of the most stylish people I know only shop second hand and thrifted items! I think if your going to drop thousands on luxury get it for yourself to wear in the long run, not because it's new and trending. As someone who used to work in luxury retail, I can tell you price does not always = quality. Look at the amount of labor that goes into a design and the quality of materials when buying luxury to avoid wasting your $$$; if it looks cheaply made it probably is.
I absolutely adored this analysis. It was something that I was just thinking about recently. As always, you did an incredible job. Curious if anyone was startled by the sound effects volume? They seemed noticeably loudee to me.
The ugg boots are my winter favorite because of their coziness factor. I wore them despite when people were saying they were ugly. I get where you're going with this though.
I like creative design, but I want emotion behind it and show why it's made the way it is. But I also know price ≠ quality always, and I like my stuff to last and serve the purpose I need it to (like my snow boots keeping my feet warm and dry and not slipping on ice).
I never liked the uggs boots. However I own ugg slippers to wear at home because one thing about uggs are undeniable: they are comfy and keep warm! Many friends of mine dont like uggs as a fashion item but more as a ay to keep their feet warm during crazy winter months in germany ✌🏻
The only things I buy expensive are bras because as a big bust woman they’re so worth it. Other things I splurge on are comfortable but well made and stylish winter boots as where I live is winter half the year almost. Same for coats. And one or two well made mid range heels that aren’t too tall or short. For example I bought a custom pair at Etsy for $200 that have been worth every penny and go with so many outfits and are comfortable plus have such a sexy design. Running sneakers are the other thing I believe worth the splurge after that I try to keep everything else reasonable even though I have the money to afford extreme luxury. Why am I so careful? I think it became a benefit that my body shape isn’t as flexible for many fashion trends. I’m a size 4/small but I have a DD bust, small waist, big butt and big thighs. When I say shopping is an odyssey it is because so many cute things aren’t made for women with big breasts. I even considered a reduction because of it as honestly I love fashion but it hates me. 😢 But I’d look off without them. I’ve gone to a few surgeons and they have shown me in my case getting rid of them won’t fix the problem as I still have big shoulders too FML. But I don’t hate my body but yes it did force me to contemplate fashion carefully because I can’t just throw anything and think it will look good in most cases if it doesn’t work with my logistics I will look frumpy and just weird. So most of the time I just wear dresses as they’ll never go out of style and they’re reliably flattering for my build 95% of the time. I have fun with the accessories but I do spend on skincare, hair are and general maintenance due to being more classic with my fashion sense. I can’t have as much fun as I want with clothes but with beauty I can go to town. So I play there.
as a highschool student in america, i’ve noticed how all of what the “popular” girls wear are so so expensive. Wardrobes full of Lululemon, nike shoes, uggs, kendra scott necklaces, high end makeup, urban outfitters, and more. as much as i want all of these items, my parents would laugh if i asked for a cart full of lulu!! instead i find myself getting dupes of everything, i currently have ugg slipper knockoffs that i got from marshall’s for 25 dollars, that are basically just as good as ugg. but it is seriously something i’ve noticed lately how all the popular items just so happen to be the most expensive items as well…
Not going to lie, I wore uggs as a kid (like 5-8) and had no idea they were expensive so I ran around in our chicken shed with them on. I honestly thought they were comfy boots that could go anywhere. It was hilarious and eventually my parents gave up on trying to get me to only wear them inside lol
I haven't finish the video but basically the brands sell aspiration and status "if I'll wear this I could like like" And don't forget that couture a is part of the brands that's more artistic and CREATIVE, Ready to wear is the every day clothes so if is made in more volume (most of the brands that make 2 couture collections every year, also present like 4 or 6 "ready to wear" collections the same year )
This topic reminds me of an episode of Sex and the City, where they can get knock offs that look exactly like the original but decide not to get the bags. And it is really upsetting because the episode ends on the note of cheap turns out to be expensive and disgraceful.
My wife and I met through a really niche fashion hobby we've both fallen out of love with 😂 Fashion is fun as long as you don't take it too seriously and are receptive to preloved/secondhand honestly. The prices be crazy.

I get so anxious when buying clothes because the only criteria I have for getting clothes are one that they look good regardless of the fashion trend at the moment and two that they should last long. My mom has decades old stuff in her wardrobe in perfect condition but most clothes today are not made to last more than two years. It's practically impossible to find reasonably priced things that last long these days unless you're patient enough to get people to stitch clothes (context: in my country it's not that expensive to buy materials you like and make someone stitch clothes to your liking but it takes a hell lotta time)
I was lucky enough to be suggested one of your videos. You do a great job of presenting your topic, the arguments surrounding it, the history of it, etc. I just subscribed. Keep up the great work.
I really love fashion. My favourite designers are Issey Miyake, Rei, Watanabe, Yamamoto, Kostadinov.. they put innovative, good quality desing at a much cheaper price than other brands. I really don't like nor buy anything from Chanel, Dior, Vuitton.. their collections from a couple of years now have been basically boring, zero-inovation and over-priced. I don't follow trends. I like fashion, innovation and sustainability. Not trends.
All those fashion designers are considered 'anti-fashion' for a reason! They do and have done more to innovate than Chanel and Dior currently do. Although not really affordable, Iris Van Herpen and Schiaparelli are two designer/fashion house that definitely push the boundaries of fashion currently.
I am currently writing my dissertation which references conspicuous consumption, and how affluence is merely the collection of 'signs' of happiness etc. Now I don't feel bad for procrastinating this morning 😂 even this video is relevant!
Def not worth it, I love knowing I can buy designer glasses but instead I’m saving money and buying Amazon ones ☺️ Especially cause I loose them quickly.
I say if your fortunate to own some pieces, take your best ever care of it….Don’t flex online or to others unless they are good friends” 😊 Maybe even, depending what it is where you live get it insured!
Fashion is fashion. The better question lies in assessing its quality and aesthetic values. Some people love what other people deem as trash. It’s art, and that is as subjective as it comes.
i agree that people only buy simple, basic designer tee shirts, glasses, etc. for the brand name, but couturiers shouldn't be defined by the first products that come up when you sort their ready to wear collections by lowest price. haute couture is thought provoking, masterfully crafted, and packed with references to brand history and fashion history. that can't be said about an urban outfitters dress. ugly and interesting is far better than pretty and boring
Maybe I'm just poor but I never understood luxury items and buying luxury brands. They're always so ugly the way they plaster their logo over everything or just have the weirdest designs. Me and my husband go into fancy stores to look at how ugly the stuff is and play a guessing game at how exorbitantly expensive it is.
I’m Ukrainian and I can tell that even fake UGG are perfection for our winter. They have thick sole protecting your feet from -10 cold ground and they’re thick themselves which feels awesome on your ankles
Have been living in Uggs since lockdown. Not really a fan of the platform ones though and I would never them to the office. They’re part of my working from home uniform!
idk man i think luxury brands are popular for their status cuz if i ever get rich best believe i’m buying up the entire women’s section of h&m and rue21
As someone who is trying to create my own brand that is more affordable...this sort of thing has me questioning my life choices. Anyone who is a struggling artist knows how hard it can be to market yourself without feeling horrible about it.
But why would I pay for a bag or shoes like for expensive car, or even apartment? To prove something? To make others "envy" me? To present as "rich"? I don't get it. There is so much totally affordable clothes and accessories which are practical and have good quality and look good. That expensive clothes is just status symbol of rich and nothing else.
As someone who worked in an optometry office, I can confirm that glasses (especially from luxury brands) are marked up anywhere from 3-5x the wholesale price. Also, they’re coming from the same exact factories and are manufactured by the same people as lower end brands. Even knowing this and the fact that this carries over into other/similar industries, I’ll never stop buying my overpriced handbags and shoes 😂
1:11 still don’t get how people wear them as actual shoes. i use mine as house shoes because i though that’s what they were for. why else would they be fluffy.
I watched every zoeunlimited video as of late. One thing I noticed - VERY long intros, and there is a lot of promises of substantial thought, there are really catchy thumbnails, but very little actual substance. I leave the video bemused and uninformed. Zoeunlimited asks questions, and barely answers them. The message can be said in the quarter of the runtime. The rest is just "stay until the end to find out.." and "today I will talk about..." HALFWAY through the video. Just food for thought, I guess?
i agree. the ends are always so abrupt, like that one friend that begins a thought and never finishes it. she builds up so much tension that you think you'll be presented with a brand new perspective on the subject, only for nothing new to be said. even though all she does is point out the obvious, but i still like watching her because at least she starts a discussion on these topics.
She actually misinformed people in this video. She names Balenciaga and several other brands as haute couture houses when they don’t even have that status.
I'm just loving how models are looking athletic instead of just skinny or slim. I'm loving the actual muscle tone on them and how they don't look soggy anymore. So much better
I am a sucker for luxury because I feel like it's supposed to be top shelf and then by wearing it, I feel like I am telling everyone that I chose something that was the best. Hopefully this makes sense. HOWEVER.... I think people who have their own style and do their own funky style thing is the coolest. They chose to wear items that they found interesting (not because of trends or brands). They are just doing their thing.
My mom bought a pair of knock off ugs for $2 at a garage sale. I wore them for 8 years since they were comfy. Just like you said, I don’t want to buy luxury for it just to have been produced poorly anyway.

That sounds really interesting! Was this study ever published? I would like to read more on that topic 👀
I’m Australian (where Uggs originated) and they are basically considered house slippers here. Definitely NOT a fashion statement!!
I live in Poland and here too they are seen more like house slippers.
Maybe if you go to school that requires changing footwear they'd be fine
Reminds me when everyone was crazy about Birkenstock. In Germany these too are considered house shoes. And paired with those high white socks I just could not think about my dad who's been doing this every summer for twenty years.
Never liked 'em but now when I'm looking at it, They'll be pretty good for house slippers, specially in winter. Might get one. it'll keep me warm.
So true
Living in NY from California I was shocked with the amount of uggs people were wearing because I thought they had fallen out of fashion back in 2011. Now being here for awhile I realize New Yorkers don’t wear it for fashion but because our feet get so damn cold in the winter
@Louis Kingsta just curious, where is that?
yeah ur so right im from NY and everyone has a pair of uggs for the winter i didnt even know it was that much of a fashion trend
Yeah it’s a good winter boot
Yeahhhh.. I never wanted them until I started living in Germany and just cared for something comfy and cozy on my feet😩 plus a shoe like uggs are perfect for somewhere where walking is more common
@@louiskingsta6142that’s stupid. I would bully them back
"Fashion is not about money, it's not about prestige, it's not about class, it's about having an identity, and the trick for me is through pop music, through make up, through femininity, to try to encourage young people, no matter who you are, or where you come from, harness your identity"

If anyone has any tips for finding cute shoes (not just athletic shoes, but cute heels) for girls with a size 10 and up, pls let me know 🙏
@@sammierose1150 find out where the drag girls go!
Thats literally impossible... Size 15 doesn't even exist.. is she a giant?
This drove me crazy too! I don’t know why she didn’t look at the list of recognized couture houses. She lists off random brands that aren’t included.
yessss!!! i was searching for a comment like this. haute couture and ready to wear are such different things!!! not only quality wise but also in terms of "carzyness"
I feel this comment so strongly and also, I felt as if she didn't understand high fashion in general when I listened to her analysis.
It says "hey, I can afford to drop tons of money of trendy designer items."
And then we all convince ourselves to get dupes.
Uhhh... I'd check the label if that coat is real leather. Just saying.
@@IceQueen975 there are an abundance of vintage leather coats at the thrift store. I bought it years ago before they started getting more expensive.
Ross, TJMaxx and Nordstrom Rack are my BFFs
I honestly believe no one actually likes Gucci. It's just that it is easily recognized, widely known as expensive and people use it to flex.
actually, i really like their most baroque/flowerly designs (think harry styles' style). But yeah, they often juts throw their logo all around the place and that's very tacky to me.
I actually really like the more unique stuff Gucci makes because it’s fun and different. But I’m not paying that much money for something I could find a similar aesthetic to in a thrift store 💀.

The waste culture portrayed by social Media is so crazy.... Like what!

If you’ve got to spend a lot on clothes you don’t have style, someone that’s actually fashionable can figure it out without money
So true , the skill to make anything work to some degree.

She is rlly inspiring Ig she made us smart about fashion
i've always worn uggs just as slippers. i never understood the idea of them being a "fashion" item to wear out
Also the fact that so many of these luxury brands are not actually well made anymore or get away with doing some shady shit to say they are still made in, lets say France for example and lets use the classic quilted Chanel purse as an example.
I'm so glad I never got into labels. 😅 Icd rather buy universal, timeless pieces that will look good no matter what.

LUV YA❤❤❤❤❤❤
The high PRICE is not about the VALUE of the item, it’s about the person who CAN purchase it! It’s about Elitism and Consumerism🎯
Your videos are so entertaining and educational
I like creative design, but I want emotion behind it and show why it's made the way it is. But I also know price ≠ quality always, and I like my stuff to last and serve the purpose I need it to (like my snow boots keeping my feet warm and dry and not slipping on ice).
What are some of your favorite & least favorite trends in fashion right now?
i'm not sure about my favorite! but my least favorite one is those fat-shaming kinds of trends!

Wardrobes full of Lululemon, nike shoes, uggs, kendra scott necklaces, high end makeup, urban outfitters, and more. as much as i want all of these items, my parents would laugh if i asked for a cart full of lulu!! instead i find myself getting dupes of everything, i currently have ugg slipper knockoffs that i got from marshall’s for 25 dollars, that are basically just as good as ugg. but it is seriously something i’ve noticed lately how all the popular items just so happen to be the most expensive items as well…
Lol, Ugg boots are an Australian invention however in Australia (where I live) they are house slippers.
Ikr
Weren't they originally made to be worn as beach shoes for surfers?
Not going to lie, I wore uggs as a kid (like 5-8) and had no idea they were expensive so I ran around in our chicken shed with them on. I honestly thought they were comfy boots that could go anywhere. It was hilarious and eventually my parents gave up on trying to get me to only wear them inside lol
I haven't finish the video but basically the brands sell aspiration and status
"if I'll wear this I could like like"
And don't forget that couture a is part of the brands that's more artistic and CREATIVE, Ready to wear is the every day clothes so if is made in more volume (most of the brands that make 2 couture collections every year, also present like 4 or 6 "ready to wear" collections the same year )
This topic reminds me of an episode of Sex and the City, where they can get knock offs that look exactly like the original but decide not to get the bags. And it is really upsetting because the episode ends on the note of cheap turns out to be expensive and disgraceful.

I bought knockoff 20$ uggs from costco because they're comfy. I didn't even know they had come back as a trend again.

Some people love what other people deem as trash. It’s art, and that is as subjective as it comes.
I'm here early! Keep up the great work Zoe! Love your content.
i agree that people only buy simple, basic designer tee shirts, glasses, etc. for the brand name, but couturiers shouldn't be defined by the first products that come up when you sort their ready to wear collections by lowest price. haute couture is thought provoking, masterfully crafted, and packed with references to brand history and fashion history. that can't be said about an urban outfitters dress. ugly and interesting is far better than pretty and boring

Okay okay okay okay, the glitch dress is HILARIOUS Game BUGS RIL

I always imagine what will happen if logos are gone on that luxury bag
Do you still view it the same without the branding effect?
I am a sucker for luxury because I feel like it's supposed to be top shelf and then by wearing it, I feel like I am telling everyone that I chose something that was the best.
Hopefully this makes sense.
HOWEVER.... I think people who have their own style and do their own funky style thing is the coolest. They chose to wear items that they found interesting (not because of trends or brands). They are just doing their thing.
omg the cutting of the prada bag
My mom bought a pair of knock off ugs for $2 at a garage sale. I wore them for 8 years since they were comfy. Just like you said, I don’t want to buy luxury for it just to have been produced poorly anyway.
