Another great Aussie Company working hard at it to keep manufacturing in this country, we really need more like them. Thanks for the tour Sammy, this lets people see how much effort goes into making a decent rod.
Sammy thank and all the Wilson guys for a very enjoyable experience and the fishing rod are made and finely buit this was such an education to understand this full process please John
Awesome video. I literally just bought a Wilson Venom deep jigger pe6/8 and matched it with Stella 14k. Will be testing out at Montebello islands Weatern Australia in a couple of weeks time. Can’t wait!
Well as a land locked zimbo I'm about to go to sea in a3.8m dingy with a 28hp suzuki from 1982.. 😂 off the Mozambique coast.. Wish me luck. I love the program. Got me hooked. And I've learnt a lot.. Lol.. Stay tuned. I should be under. Captain chaos. ❤
Amazing how far Wilson have come in recent times. Their gear was once the cheap stuff that you found in Kmart but now they are producing some serious fishing gear. I would love to see the Blades n Tails range expanded to have more options in the mid range price point.
You should do an Esky rod build vid down in Key West Fla USA. I got to do a walk thru of the their whole facility 2 yrs ago. Its amazing how the start to finish process works. Very similar to what you showed but they are much more specialized for the Keys type fishing. It would be epic mate!😎
Never heard of that brand, would be fun to test one. Checked out their website and the prices were high, like if it was lifetime warranty that covers everything.
Every time I've taken the nephews to the indoor playground just down the road from here I've REALLY wanted to see what was inside Wilson fishing. Absolutely love my BNT's! Beautiful rods made locally
Snyder Glas Rods started in carols Park. Len Butterworth made rods in same factory in Antimony StCarole Park QLD 4300 same street Alvey was in. I can't remember the name of the man who owned Snyder. He sold it a good 15 years ago from memory and retired. I thought to a New Zealand company. I could be wrong. Can anyone enlighten me on this post. Fill in the bits I can't remember.
I live in Miami Florida=the Best fishing spot in the country, perhaps even the world for fresh or salt- FL keys. I catch the same fish you catch with a Walmart Lews fishing rod reel combo with cheap line. People, you don't have to buy these types of ridiculously expensive rods to catch fish. Outfish Pro anglers with my so-called amateur setup & laugh at them all along.
Pretty average components and craftsmanship for the price the advertise. Don't get me wrong, they're a decent rod, but geez they like to rip off Aussies.
As someone who has done a fair bit of testing and knows the characteristics of materials its not that simple. Having a look at them they’re fairly priced. Expensive costs have to cover the materials, labour, consumables and everything in between like the engineering behind it. Hopefully the pricing will get better as they continue to become a bigger company.
Majority of the cost is the aussie labour to “build” them. The blank and components will be a standard price. The blanks themselves arent made in australia.
I’m pleasantly surprised that they still make something in Australia. Not many companies do. If you want higher quality blanks and components you could try a custom rod builder for similar cost
@@kizzjd9578exactly. Labour costs in Australia are ridiculous. And that's what customers are paying for. The raw materials aren't special and the workmanship is average.
@@boostjunky24 massive cost to make blanks here. All the machinery and materials come from either china, japan, korea or usa. The carbon has to be stored in a freezer so its a bit of a pain to get it over here and store it. Also need to do big orders for it to be worth it. When you have companies overseas with a factory right next door to the material supplier, its easier to get it made there. Also.. no one would pay the price they would charge if it were made here. All the high end japanese rods are all made the exact same way cheaper rods are made.

Another great video to finish the week💪
Sammy thank and all the Wilson guys for a very enjoyable experience and the fishing rod are made and finely buit this was such an education to understand this full process please John
That was a good look behind the scenes, good to see an Aussie company going strong.
Awesome video. I literally just bought a Wilson Venom deep jigger pe6/8 and matched it with Stella 14k. Will be testing out at Montebello islands Weatern Australia in a couple of weeks time. Can’t wait!
Very interesting, thank you. Would love to have watched them make the blanks.
They probably come from Japan.
They dont make them
Thanks Sammy.....this was good to see
Interesting! Does the reel seat get glued down do it doesn’t slip?
Normally grips n reel seat glued on. Didnt see in vid either.
Wat a great change of pace. Love ur fishing but great to see the behind the scenes stuff. Can we get a hook, lure ect as well. Good stufff Sammy 👊
Wow, Wilson has some of the best products on the market, I've been using them for years.
Thanks all, very interesting.

Very nice! Thank you!!
Wrapped my own rod a few years ago and was one of the most enjoyable and awesome thing I did
Awesome 🤩 thanks Sammie 👍👍🍺🍻

Great rods! Worth every cent, last for ever 👌 👍 🍻
Great video. Were the fore grip and the rear grips glued on
sick video mate
My two favorite beach rods are both Wilson Live Fibres, very closely followed by my Gary Howards
That bloke was a weapon putting on the eyes 🔥

That was cool 👍👍👍👍👍
They are the best and I have 17 of them for that reason 😊
Awesome video champion
Thanks sammy
Just an idea here… more factory tours! Whether it be Yamaha, tweed bait ect. what ever fishing/sponcer related. Would be sick content
I’ve had a few live fibre rods caught my first spin rod Sailfish on one 👍
Never heard of that brand, would be fun to test one.

I enjoy watching these sort of shows, pity dicko never mentioned the blanks are made in NZ then sent here
I assume they are CTS blanks?
@@EarthwurmJurmkilwell
@@AndrewProsser-fq1htare they actually?
@@kizzjd9578yeah mate. Kilwell is a NZ company. Wilson have the monopoly on kilwell blank imports into Australia
@@AndrewProsser-fq1ht ok cool, never heard of them or seen any blanks out of nz. Must be expensive for them.
Hey Sammy is dave from the shop from Zimbabwe as well..
😊
He sounds like it.
Nothing like Japanese craftsmanship.
great video! does wilson make their own blanks?
Imported from you know where i'd guess, as that was glossed over in vid unfortunately.
Nah, if they did, they would be 3-5 times the price.
yes, they are great rods, but some longer ones would be nice.
There should be more pistol grips now.
Hasnt been a new venom in five or so years. When are they going to bring out a new one
Every time I've taken the nephews to the indoor playground just down the road from here I've REALLY wanted to see what was inside Wilson fishing. Absolutely love my BNT's! Beautiful rods made locally
Would be nice if we could buy their rods directly off their website
Think some of the Japanese company’s might have something to say about that !
There good Australian built rods

how to find good blank for cheap?
Sounds like a little snake oil to me but that's why you get the big bucks!
I wouldn't swap one of my zenaq rods for one.
6 meters of rod for surf casting, to cast 200 mt away , long rod really, telescopic by preference
JOHN POPE ....Scarborough. End of story.

🍺 🍻
Hardy rods are the best in the world made in the uk, nobody i know have heard of wilson rods, and cant find any stockists on line
They don’t make fly rods or course fishing rods. More offshore and game fishing 👌👌
Would have been good to see the blanks being made, “from halfway to finished” would have been a more accurate title
Terrible take. Was good to see how they put them together.
