I think the only race that could possibly be more exciting is the match between Ouija Board and Alexandrer Goldrun in the 2006 Nassau Stakes at Goodwood. But otherwise, a terrific race!
Can watch this race over and over again fantastic horses in Enable and crystal ocean, the commentary still makes the hairs on back of my neck stand up, Simon Holt amazing
This is the greatest race Enable has ever run in her career, and one of single greatest races I've ever witnessed. The mare had the worst draw of the field, was forced to race wide and was taken out of her preferred running style of racing just off the lead due to the Ballydoyle pacemaker Norway setting a blistering pace, Crystal Ocean edged ahead of her on the inside twice in the last 100 meters, and she still prevailed. Frankie judged that pace perfectly, it was a masterful ride. Dual Oaks winner, 2 King George's, 2 Arc's, BC Turf, Eclipse, Yorkshire Oaks. Her resume is the greatest of any middle distance horse in the history of the game. It isn't even close.
Moo WWs ..It will be very difficult, but not impossible. I imagine the Sottsass team will like their chances and believe he has what it takes to go by her. Other horses like Magical and Crystal Ocean may improve and make it hard for her. But it’s a scenario she’s had every year and no horse can ever go by her. She’s an all time great wonder-mare and with some luck in running she can make history as the first horse to ever win the Arc 3 times :)
The ever familiar commentator. Used to be part of the Channel 4 Racing team even since the days of the Graham Goode or Rawleigh Gilbert era. Anyway, this renewal marks the thirtieth anniversary of another thrilling race, Nashwan getting the better of Cacoethes. Obviously, the Eclipse Stakes in which the pacemaker set a lightning pace had an affect on the winner. Enable, a filly of all fillies, as great as Dahlia did. Crystal Ocean was the challenger and the Aidan O'Brien runners including Epsom Derby winner, Anthony Van Dyck, nowhere to be seen.
People saying that Frankie gave her an 'awful ride', have no idea. All he had to do was keep Crystal Ocean in his sights. He was the only danger. The Ballydoyle horses kicked up so Enable couldn't glide to the front. Frankie was supreme and so was Enable.
It was that thinking that cost her the Arc in 2019. He just thought he had to keep Magical in his sights and he would win but Magical set too fast a pace and chasing her set Enable up for Waldgeist.
@@elgransenor1472 El Gran! It's been a while! Yeah that's a good shout. Everytime I watch that race it looks like she had the perfect run but they were flying up front. He then matched strides with Crystal Ocean and James Doyle all the way up the straight, sitting fairly still I thought. A very cool ride from the best big race jockey in the world at the moment who knew exactly how much horse he had under him turning in. Being the great jockey he is and probably thinking to the future in Paris in October he made only as much use of her as he had too to make the race the great spectacle it was.
SPOT ON! I observed the same. The horse actually wasn't asked for it all.The confidence was there, the timing perfect. She was asked for juuuust enough to get the job done. Fuel reserved for her real misson: The Arc
The stage of the greatest fight was set up by the tactics of O'Brien camp, which, in my opinion, borderline on immoral. Look at what Hunting Horn (pink, stall 10, just inside Enable) did. When Dettori tried to steady behind Hunting Horn, Heffernan slowed down the horse too, without moving in. Dettori then tried to make the forward move, and Heffernan pushed along as well, always keeping himself three-deep and hence Enable four-deep. Combined with the blistering speed set by another O'Brien horse Norway, it was impossible for Dettori to accelerate more and cross Hunting Horn. Good Dettori... he half applied a brake on Enable at 0:27 so that he could stay behind Hunting Horn and Crystal Ocean to obtain cover. Otherwise, he would have been four-deep all the way outside a determined interrupter. There is nothing wrong for team tactics, but this one may be too much. Ironically, O'Brien set all these up for Anthony Van Dyke, but he was the very first to drop away, so now it became much ado about nothing. And another observation is that O'Brien usually declares his riders for multiple horses in a big race rather late in 2-day declaration stage, after the stalls were announced. I suspect if, say, it was Magic Wand who was drawn inside of Enable, O'Brien might have sent Heffernan, his second most skillful jockey, to Magic Wand and do exactly the same thing. Should this be allowed at all? Finally, this is not the first time Hunting Horn being assigned the role to ruin Enable's race. Look at what happened in BC Turf last year. The horse is more talented than just being an interrupter
enable is just so much better - watch kempton aw race - she blitzed him by 6 -7 lengths - he couldnt live with her pace .. if she slipped in behind norway the wining margin would have been approx 2 and a bit lengths ... ballydoyle threw all his toys out of the pram to rough up enable ...

@jeff griffin I wish they would jef but unfortunately they're too closely related on breading.. her dad nathaniel is frankels brother.. so they won't breed them but that would be some animal!!!
Just read statistically Enable ran the farthest distance in the race! Was 4 wide then 3 wide before being dropped in at the back, and to still win is incredible!
I have to say I am a national hunt fan through and through but what a race definitely shades if Grundy and Bustino a fantastic horse race with both giving there all , Enable one of the greats now but enormous credit to Crystal Ocean giving her 3 pounds which shows the ratings about right and may have made the difference
Top mare steered to success on good to soft ground in slightly better than average time (2m 32.42s). Ballydoyle used all their toys, but it only helped to set a strong pace for the maestro Frankie to enable Enable to produce her best form. Have heard many Simon Holt commentaries, but this is a gem showing his full excitement. I bet Gosden looked on cool as cool can be. Great race.
Horse racing is a terrible industry for these amazing creatures but this mare clearly loves her job as you can see by her ears at the end and is therefore inspiring to watch. I appreciate also how the jockey feels about this horse, which I am sure has something to do with her success and her heart to win.

Not often at all Frankie gets his tactics wrong but when you've got a horse like Enable under you, you don't need to get them spot on. I think we witnessed one for the ages today.
I don't think Frankie got his tactics wrong, he tried to get closer to the rail from a bad draw, but he was blocked off by the Aidan O'Brien mob ( I think Enable was actually bumped by one of them). Frankie backed off, let Enable regain her composure, and then came round the field on the bend (Winx-style), then she had them (apart from Crystal Ocean, who ran a great race), but she was just too tenacious for him at the finish. The other point this race showed was that the 3-year-old crop this year is pretty mediocre, the Epsom Derby winner only had one behind him at the finish.
@@christopherstokes3748 I'm guessing your a leading jockey but I just haven't heard of you?.Frankie has only ridden over 3000 so maybe he hasn't got your knowledge.

Frankel never needed a top jockey to guide him. All his wins were due to his sheer ability with minimum input from Quealy. Thats how good he was. Enable is a top class racehorse too but Frankel was a different beast.
Best race I've seen for a long time .frankie the best jockey in the world . Thinking enable and Frankel mating what a goal it be ,so come on prince Khalid make it happen please
We all knew she had class but she showed us what a big heart for a fight she has, most horses would have cracked under the relentless way Crystal Ocean kept on galloping right to the line, unsporting again by Coolmore running 4 horses 3 of which were there to try and make Enable run wide and further than the rest and then for the leader to pull off the rail and make a gap for Anthony Van Dyck to hopefully go through, haha just wasn't good enough and that Derby he won must have been one of the worst ever
Waldgeist could have been closer as the horse ran at the same pace in the final furlongs as the top 2 but the jockey decided to go to the inside and then when he didnt have room he switched him to the outside. Waldgeist is a great Each Way option for the Arc.

Fuel reserved for her real misson:
The Arc
Holy Cow--I almost had a stoke in that last few hundred yards but she DID IT !!!!
What, you almost stoked the 🔥 fire?
Hands and heels magical
I take it you meant a stroke lol
Well a Stoke is less harmful than a stroke... i think.

@@MonkeeANDcheeky oh dry up, Winx never as good as Enable....
Congrats to Enable but damn what a devastating finish my boy Crystal Ocean was so close to his championship.
Best horse and jockey in the world good performance
I wouldn't call it devastating, Crystal Ocean ran an amazing race. He's still a great horse, he just met something greater.
enable is just so much better - watch kempton aw race - she blitzed him by 6 -7 lengths - he couldnt live with her pace .. if she slipped in behind norway the wining margin would have been approx 2 and a bit lengths ... ballydoyle threw all his toys out of the pram to rough up enable ...
That was so Bustino v Grundy, as the commentators mention after the finish.
I never thought I'd see a similar battle as that one in 75 ever again, but here we are ....
It was so in 1977 with THE MINISTREL and ORANGE BAY, equally exciting.
Enable is a sweetheart, she does it all so willingly.
She's not that much of a sweetheart, she'll take your hand for lunch if you're not careful.
brilliant commentary
I love to watch horse race on tv! I love Horses they are loveable; caring; warmth; i Detest Animal Cruelty! Animals Have Rights Also! It is a Sunny Day! I am watching it November 2024! The Holidays Are Aproaching?😢😢😢😢😢😢
Simon gave it all in a memorable commentary, congratulations Sir, on adequately conveying just what we all witnessed , what a brave mare definitely a race for the ages never to be forgotten , and, THANK GOD! PRAISED BE TO GOD! we all didn't have to listen to more....listen look obviously thrilled happy delighted came forward lets see what the lads say....listen, i'll axe John how can he win a Group One with only one runner? how is that possible like? where I come from we have to run 10 :P and still can't win sometimes! hooray for Enable Prince Khalid , sporting owner, Mr Gosden will be Sir John someday and Frankie! what a jockey it's not hype he IS THE Best! never fucks up in any big race
They tried to rough her up, keep her far back and wide and she still came out on top the best filly to ever race.... what a pleasure to see both her and frankel
An absolute honour to have seen both her and Frankel.
Frankel the GOAT in my opinion and Enable the world's best horse we have seen since.
Just amazing. Regards from Australia
@jeff griffin I wish they would jef but unfortunately they're too closely related on breading.. her dad nathaniel is frankels brother.. so they won't breed them but that would be some animal!!!
Abdullah is a lucky owner and a half... Enable, Frankel and Dancing Brave...
Arrogate too!
Kingman
Yah but he gave up on Dancing Brave at stud. Just like he did Empire Maker.
Just read statistically Enable ran the farthest distance in the race! Was 4 wide then 3 wide before being dropped in at the back, and to still win is incredible!
Mark Doyle
Do you have the actual distances for the first three?
Best commentary ever.
Simon Holt, racecourse commentator, nearly lost his voice, a bit high pitched near the finish, what a great race. Enable is a star.
Enable deserves to the WORLDS HIGHEST RATED HORSE!!!
She was receiving 3lb from Crystal Ocean so going by the winning distance she is 2lb behind the runner up. So pleased she won though.
Who cares what a bunch of "experts" rate her.
If you know horse racing and you know sport, then you know just how great she is.
A rating, or heaven forbid, a loss doesn't change what you know and can see and sense about her.
@@elgransenor1472 in most purists eyes, she's the best and probably has been since the end of that famous second preparation, where she cleaned up multiple group ones, ending with the Arc.
@@daverave816 it's not like that when 3 year olds like golden horn finish 2 lengths infront of flintshire and co, getting 8lbs from them, only to in turn be rated 7lbs superior. longines need to make it make sense.
She is very very strong than we think.
Just, she is strong. I was really amazed.
Brilliant, Brilliant, Brilliant.
Not often at all Frankie gets his tactics wrong but when you've got a horse like Enable under you, you don't need to get them spot on. I think we witnessed one for the ages today.
He didn't get his tactics wrong the draw was his problem.
The other point this race showed was that the 3-year-old crop this year is pretty mediocre, the Epsom Derby winner only had one behind him at the finish.
he said himself he got his tactics wrong. Found himself 3 deep at Swinley Bottom and had to drop her back a few lengths but okay.
@@christopherstokes3748 O'Brien nonsense yet again. Pathetic.
@@christopherstokes3748 I'm guessing your a leading jockey but I just haven't heard of you?.Frankie has only ridden over 3000 so maybe he hasn't got your knowledge.
Imagine, two of the Greatest horses in Frankel & Enable
Going head to head., I can See Frankel using his speed to take up the running
with Enable producing a power packed last 3 furlongs to reel in Frankel
Enable is pure class on class, from 3yr old to 5yr old, all her races have been against
top group horses, shes versatile with Distance, Ground, Trip, Track & won in different continents
lm not sure there's been a better .......??
Just Wonderful
Frankel never needed a top jockey to guide him. All his wins were due to his sheer ability with minimum input from Quealy. Thats how good he was.
Enable is a top class racehorse too but Frankel was a different beast.
Better if they mate what a foal that would be
I think Enable is Frankel's Daughter
Anthony Leslie @ you cannot compare a long distance runner to a miler- over this distance the great Frankel will be beaten flat
thanks but she is still related to him either way
Love those iron-tough race mares, she might be the toughest I've seen. Great hand ride late.
Best race I've seen for a long time .frankie the best jockey in the world . Thinking enable and Frankel mating what a goal it be ,so come on prince Khalid make it happen please
Not going to happen, already said so.
She'll probably visit kingman, dubawi,or oasis dream won't be Frankel too closely related,
Arrogate?
Wow, what a horse she is! And Crystal Ocean is clearly getting better and better. Kudos to Gosden and Stoute, both brilliant conditioners.
If Dettori had been on Crystal Ocean and Doyle on Enable we would have seen a different result
A Magical Mare Enable. What A Star!!! Not Forgetting Crystal Ocean.A Classic Race!
Sensational Horse Race She is simply is the Best! Commentary Was Excellent From Simon Holt too!
One of the best races of the present century
Amazing filly! Beautiful, great heart, a true champion!
Like a serious heavyweight boxing match with heavy blows between 2 super athletes
What a finish to the wire....Wow
Beautiful horse, beautiful ride!
Wonderful image seeing jockey, trainers, etc padding and kissing the filly. She understands their gratitude.
Great filly and greater jockey! Chapeau!
Yes truely was amazing loooooove this horse she gives her all god bless her Deexxxxx
The greatest of Nathaniel's offspring. Enable is surely destined for that third Arc and her place in equine history
All hail her majesty 🐎❤️
Possibly the best race horse ever. Hopefully she will compete in the Arc.
Wm. E. McC
The lack of need for the whip is very frankel- esque
He doesn't use it on her because she doesn't like it. Also they are FAR stricter with whip use in Europe than they are in the States.
Enable wanted it more. She's glorious.
言葉が出ない。最高の名牝
Sadler's Wells and Neartic top and bottom. Mr. Prospector on the sire side as well.
the blood of the sire of the sires.....NEARCO(NORTHERN DANCER)
One of the greatest races of the 21 century
What a Race! What a mare!
The Lady is the CHAMP!!!!
I didn't see Lester in his prime but Frankie must be one of the greatest riders ever seen!
No real whip rules in Lester's day, he beat the horses blue literally.
That was a horse race and that was a commentary...👌💯
We all knew she had class but she showed us what a big heart for a fight she has, most horses would have cracked under the relentless way Crystal Ocean kept on galloping right to the line, unsporting again by Coolmore running 4 horses 3 of which were there to try and make Enable run wide and further than the rest and then for the leader to pull off the rail and make a gap for Anthony Van Dyck to hopefully go through, haha just wasn't good enough and that Derby he won must have been one of the worst ever
Hunting Horn... a good horse whose main function in life, sadly, seems to be making life as difficult as possible for Enable.
What else do you expect from that shower?
ATR please increase the volume before you upload to youtube and twitter
Waldgeist could have been closer as the horse ran at the same pace in the final furlongs as the top 2 but the jockey decided to go to the inside and then when he didnt have room he switched him to the outside. Waldgeist is a great Each Way option for the Arc.
Reminded me of the 2007 Belmont Stakes with the stretch run between Curlin and Rags to Riches. The lady won that day also.
I remember Willie Carson doing something similar but can't remember where
Супер окей👍👌🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🤗
Used to be billed as the best all aged middle distance race of the season, well this certainly was that lets hope future king George's bring back the same sort of quality
The King George is definitely back
Top Class..9 dislikes? must be winx fans :)
Yes 😂😂they are all fool....
@jongleur The dislikes are not worth talking about, they backed Crystal Ocean.....
@jongleur funnily enough, your foul mouth makes you one too!!!
@jongleur do you think I give a toss about English!! You don't have the right to call anyone that. YOU STUPID IGNORANT PIECE OF SH*&!! English enough for you????
Wuonderful race. Enable fenomenal.
Would anyone happen to know the running times of each horse?
With a better draw would have been more up with the pace and won by further a great performance.
Don't think she would have won further she's had the hardest race of her life today, let's hope both horses come out of it ok Grundy and Bustino were never the same horses again after their epic battle
@@chrissimmins4171 yes she would by at least 2 lengths .. she smashed him by 6 lengths last time at kempton - couldnt live with her speed - so had she slipped in behind norway - she would have won easily ..
Girl power to Enable! She’s so gutsy. Just didn’t give in. It made me cry! And all credit to Frankie. He’s the biggest sports superstar. Needs a knighthood.
It's enabel, gentlemen , this mare will not be repeated on the racetracks .
Wow! Enable was in the most dangerous position and fought back.
I think the Epsom Derby this year was full of under average horses, AV Dyck ran a shocker, should have entered Irish Derby winner Sovereign....
Still gives me goosebumps
no one whip Frankie...Masterclass ride
Inconmensurable, magistral, sin duda el mejor equino jamás visto, nos hace enamorarnos de este deporte, si a secretariat le hicieron una estatua, a enable deberian de hacerle lo mismo, no merece menos, hacerla inmortal.
One winner only. Once she eye balled Crystal ocean when she was headed it was all over.
