Customer Ok'd the "correct repair" and I ordered the new wire lead from GM and will have the car the way it should be the first part of the week when the part shows up. They are driving it in the mean time as is. Thanks for watching! -Eric O.
I very much wish that there was a mechanic near me that had the "do it right" attitude. Most shops would have just put it back together and said done. Nice job.
@@richardl4556 the problem is, most customers would shit the bed at the cost of "do it right" repairs, wanting do it right service at do a bodge prices.
Any run of the mill tech would call it fixed, get the cash, and never think about it again !!!! A SUPER TECH ASE Certified PRNY Avoca mechanic would not sleep well, talk in their sleep, and have wiring nightmares till this problem was fixed correctly !!!!! Do you see the difference and agree with the reasoning ??? People in the know, always go - to SMA !!!!!!! Well done, Eric !!! You make all of us PROUD of you !!!!!! 😄😝😺💯👍👍👍
Here in England, we are known for our bad weather, but it would be extremely rare to see a 2013 car with so much corrosion. It is amazing how cars rust so quickly in your neck of the woods.
In Wisconsin in recent years they've taken to spraying a salt solution onto dry roads if there's even a hint of snow in the forecast. I think this is the killer & it's what they do in New York. You get 10x as many salt days as snow days, and the dry dust blows into every nook & cranny.
I've worked on cars pretty much my whole life. Wiring problems are my weakest link. I'm so impressed to watch how you investigate and find the problem. My absolute favorite ones are other shops can't find the fix. Keep up the good fight as cars keep getting more and more complex.
Electrical repairs on cars are very similar to hardwired, remote device-to-central control panel stationary electrical/electronic systems. You use similar diagnostic methodologies and can have similar issues finding wiring faults. (Green crusties on a file alarm device inside a heat detector's connectors inside a bathroom where'd they'd never opened a window during showers and never found during prior inspections this after going above the ceiling to find the fault. 🤡)
Ya me too.. the in-laws and, some of my friends found out i wrench on my own vehicles, now they all bug me to fix their cars because i don’t charging them 😂.. if they bring me a vehicle that has electrical issues that are more complex than a fuse, relay, or sensor.. i tell them to bring it to a mechanic
“Hallelujah we don’t have to drop the gas tank and we can talk like this” 😂 You had me laughing at that, because I do the same thing and start singing what I’m thinking when a project takes a turn for the better. Love this channel.
Eric, I enjoy watching your diagnosis on wiring problems. By using your methods, I was able to find and repair a problem with my rear turn signals on my 2012 Colorado, but at my age and not having a garage to work in, I just replaced the wire between the fuse box and the BCM. This old body just can't get in the positions and contortions that I used to when I was working. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and methods.
I *knew*, I just knew, that Eric O could NOT do this kind of repair. I have been watching SMA videos since Trinity "auditioned" for kindergarten, eight years ago. There is just no way he could leave it at that.
Of course, the one time you don't have to drop the tank, it comes in empty. You know damn well if it was full, the problem would be above the tank. You need an easy one once in a while. Love the vids, keep them coming.
Hey Mr. O. I just want to thank you for your work. It has bought a world of revelations for me working in the industry of how to not over think. And pointing out ways to find the problems at hand. You have helped in ways I can not express. You not only helped me but my colleagues as well. Sharing the love so to speak. Again.....Thank You. Dan Wiley

Still having trouble comprehending the level of rust and corrosion on a vehicle with so few miles. What a terrible waste. Good job with the diagnosis and patching it up for your customer though. And, having the integrity to explain what you did and what it needs to be done properly.
I'm glad to hear you got the proper repair job. You did the diag, so you should also get the job. Almost 30 years in this industry has taught me that's not always how it works, but it's nice when it does.👍👍
Your integrity and knowledge, are second to none. I thoroughly enjoy your videos inclusive of detailed explanations and a commitment to - "do it right - or don't do it all all"... I wish you were closer to Ohio. Thank you for your honesty and integrity.
It was 99 today and I was wishing I lived up north. Then watched some of your videos. I'll stay here by the gulf of Mexico cause there is less rust and corrosion.

If people would just treat their vehicles with rust protection there wouldn't be so many rotting away. I live in NJ where the winter salt application is out of control. All of my trucks and suv's have been sprayed with krown or fluid film every fall since they were new (2009 and earlier) and none have rust anywhere. It's all about preventative maintenance.
Have to say it's nice to see more videos being put out absolutely love the content and the fact your family is included. You have helped me to strive to be a better tech. Thanks Eric O and family keep up the great work.
Just a good honest mechanic. Most would have jury rigged it and sent them on their way after charging them for parts. And when the gum failed they would say the check engine was a different code.
I might not have all your awesome gadgets but I enjoy and use the way you attack each job. I'm 63 but still like to learn about electrical repairs. Keep up the great content
