I'm gonna give you the keys to have the #ToolArmy turn out in droves: 1. Headphones (check) 2. No music videos (check) 3. Have the lyrics up - they will blow your mind 4. Some songs are meant to be played together (we can guide you) 5. Tool fans do not care about video length 6. Start at the beginning of their catalogue and work your way to the end, don't cheat the experience/evolution 7. This is controversial to some but... read up on what each song is about before reacting, trust me this will enhance your journey I've been listening to Tool since '93 and I love, love love seeing new fans born. #SpiralOut
5. Tool fans do not care about video length I mean shit, we waited 13 years for an album with 10 tracks thats like 75 min long. 10-15 min songs are kind of the norm for us, lol. My suggestion is to maybe stick to an album for a few songs. Their first 3 albums each have their own sounds and song writing style.
one of my favorite things is watching people discover Tool and immediately start falling down the rabbit hole. keep checking out their music bro, it just gets better and better
Yes sir! TOOL is the ultimate escape! 58 years old, from Los Angeles and listening since 1992.... And still still spiraling out in the sonic journey that is TOOL! Saw them live in January! The single most amazing concert I've experienced!
As someone who's grown up listening to Tool and all the main "rock" bands and ventured deep into metal, Tool is..... Tool is Tool. It doesn't really fit into any real category. It's an art and genre of it's own tier. The singer even has separate bands with even more unique sounds and themes. "Perfect Circle" and "Puscifer". One thing I loved about this swathe of music is that it refined my appreciation for art and passion. As Rock and metal done "right", and can nail the technical precision but back it with proper passion... It's pure art. Sometimes the artpiece is anger, sometimes it's sadness, sometimes it's both and more. A Prime example of this is *"Fleshgod Apocalypse - No"*. And if you can brace yourself for something genuinely powerful in the metal tier, and see the message paired with the passion, you can appreciate the art.
Imagine how we felt back in 96 when this came out, the difference between Undertow and this Anemia is like , is this the same band?? Lol I mean I was hooked from Undertow ( fan for life) but this album changed my life at 20 years old. Never looked back. Tool said in a interview there music isn’t something you can tap your feet to, open mind and full attention is required . They believe their fans are artists in some form or another and want their fans to appreciate their music as art.
Tool songs are journeylike. I agree they take you away since they are so different in a great way. You’ll be inclined to give one of the members credit for their genius but IMO, they are each equally fabulous contributors to their sound. My favourite band. Another great band to get into is Paradise Lost. May I recommend ‘Darker Thoughts’ from their album ‘Obsidian’. An English band which like Tool, care little about commercial success. They care more about their music and this band is talented with a faithful following of gothic metal fans. They are very musical though.
Progressive Rock is what I would label the band as. Lots of Polyrhythms! I remember back in the day when this record came out. Tool has been around for quite some time now. A lot of the new music you listen to is influenced by this band.
Early Tool is raw, angry, and more "standard". They evolve into more progressive and complex music with some insane instrumental mastery in later albums. Listen to Undertow, Crawl Away, or Pushit
My absolute favorite Tool song 🙌 But probably my favorite Tool music video is Sober. Definitely creative videos that can distract from the song, why I love to hear their songs first and then go search for the videos lol
Surprised you haven't reacted to Tool's The Pot yet..really good..other Tool songs I'd suggest you react to are 46 & 2, The Grudge, Right in two and Vicarous. That will continue you well down the rabbit Hole..then you'll be ready for Lateralus, Wings for Marie/10,000 days, and Rosetta Stoned.
This band is on another league. Especially in their lateralus album they got some of the most sophisticated lyrics i have ever experienced in any genre i have ever heard. The shit this dude sings is mkre informative that what i learned in 4 years of school. At least it feels that way.
Tool is one of those bands that you experience and not just listen to (pretentious, I know but I don't know how else to describe them). It isn't for everybody. I personally love this band and try to see them in concert as often as possible. They put on one helluva show with not only the music but the visuals as well. It's a whole vibe for sure. They have grown and their sound has evolved with each new album. Early Tool is angry Tool; raw...loud and intense. Middle Tool is more philosophical, introspective and very complex. Lots of deep lyrics and multi layered compositions. Current Tool is more retrospective and refined but still very complex and layered. They do a lot with a little if that makes sense. So, whatever mood you're currently in...they've got a few albums worth of pure genius to jam out to.
i think you summed up their indescribability in a correctly confused way. there's just _something_ about their sound that is disquieting and disorienting. the guitars, especially on this album, sound like no other guitars i've ever heard. almost from another planet. you feel reality escape, and at the end of *most* of their songs, you get the feeling that you survived something, in the same way that you might after watching a horror movie. props.
This reaction slipped under my radar. Like many, I think Tool is the child of Led Zep and Pink Floyd. The music with the emotional vocal delivery always hits me, way before the lyrics. What hits me with everything else is that he’s asking his Mom for help again. This theme becomes deeper throughout and hits hard in 10,000 days.
Dude ..you had me rolling when you said after the song ended..."This band..has a sort of trippyness to it".lollol...uh hell to the yes bro,,,these guys are so fuckin good,,especially D Carey...they are so unique and their sound is almost undescribable...guitarist Adam Jones said he cringes when they say TOOL is "metal"...he said it makes him feel dirty like he needs a shower....I thought that was funny...keep up the good work dude,,,sub'd
Thank you for the support 🙏🖤 honestly this tool journey has been one of my favorite dives into music. The songs have been amazing and the way they create music has made me look at writing and music creating in a different perspective too. Tool is beyond legendary 😵💫
I usually can’t stand the sh*t UA-camrs talk after reacting to TOOL, but what you say is SO spot on! :) Also, focussing on the music or the lycris of aenima are two totally different experiences, just like schism with or without the video, you should try it! Do 46&2 or 7mpest next!
Slow that intro down good sir!! I get your pumped, but geez 😂!! Welcome to the TOOL army, definitely check out lyrics when you listen to them. The vocalist is an amazing story teller !! LFG 🔥🚀🌙
The best way to describe Tool I’ve found is A) a heavy Pink Flyod B) the best band on the planet 🤷🏼♂️🖤🤤 also I’ve been a Tool fan for a looong time & “Schism” is one of the very few songs they have that really isn’t ….my taste? 🤔 for me? 🤷🏼♂️you know what I mean 😉
Really enjoyed your reaction. If you really want to take a ride, check out Lateralus. You are in for a great musical journey! Welcome to the world of Tool!!!
Yeah...no ...dont do official vids....those are Adam Jones projects. Fan made vids are ok...if you can find them...lyric vids are good. Id like to see you react to The Pot, Right in Two...and forward down the spiral. Good vid!
Tool has some amazing songs, but their fans like to sniff their own farts too much. They think by listening to tool they're learning metaphysics or something. It's really not that deep. A basic English high school class could read between the lines and understand the messages.
Since you this one more than schism, I suggest you go back to their EP and start from the beginning, there's a lot of buryed treasure back there, actually I believe it's all gold, that vein runs pure and deep

Well stated!
This needs to be the pre caption for reactors. Nice work!
Perfect list! Skip no steps! My subscription is based on this! (Sort of, but not really, but kinda really!) LOL
This guy gets it. Follow this list and always include your thoughts. This is my first time here, and I'm ready for the long run. Cheers!
one of my favorite things is watching people discover Tool and immediately start falling down the rabbit hole.
keep checking out their music bro, it just gets better and better
I've seen it on so many streamers, first tool reaction ever immediately followed by half the albums
You're entering a deep rabbit hole bud. Would love to see you react to 46 &2, Lateralus and Descending by them. Spiral out 🌀👁🧘🏻♂️🙌🏼
Long time no read
Tool Army checking in!
Tool Army here.. just subbed to watch you spiral out down the rabbit hole!! Welcome to the club and enjoy the ride

The ULTIMATE DISS of L.A. BEAUTIFUL!!!
My radio station (KISW) still plays this classic & I actually enjoy it. The coming of armageddon is definitely no joke. Great reaction! Big fan.

The hook is set...! welcome to the rest of your musical life.
I enjoy how you let the song play without pauses then reviewed it afterwards. Excellent style.
Glad you enjoy that, I want the full experience of each song!
Yes my friend enjoy these first discoveries. This Tool wave I've been riding for 30 years.
🤘
Tool is elite. And an auto thumbs up. Keep em rolling Bro

Yes polyrhythms! That’s the word I’ve been looking for on a lot of reactions I’ve done for several bands. Thank you sir
This record changed my life. Check out Candiria's Paradigm Shift... another next level rhythm section.
He has such a unique voice! Solid song
Very unique indeed hailsters 🤘
Good reaction to a great band! Tool = Excellence.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it 🤘

I agree. This song is slowly climbing to the top of my list of TOOL songs. Can’t stop listening to it!
Love that you let it play through.

Aenma is the angry self. Lateralus is the mature self. Spiral out as you enter the rabbit hole.
Can't wait to see your reaction to more Tool! Enjoyed your musical breakdown!
Thanks Sarah! More on the way 👀🤘
my favorite from tool... peak form
Will be seeing tool at 02 arena next week! Cannot wait
Nice! That’s gonna be lit 🤘

Haha thank you for understanding my confusing description. They really do have a unique sound

the grudge is a banger . great transiitions
Metal Pink Floyd! The instruments in this song are great but what elevates for me is the sweat lyrics in the lullaby to all the fine people of LA!
Yessssss

Check out Bill Hicks Arizona Bay comedy album. It inspired this song and album
Mind melted!! Subbed for more audio tool.

Sober live should be next.
check Jumbi and Invincible
I'd say that musically the closest thing to Tool I can think of is King Crimson, and I suppose they were an influence.
TOOL IS FOREVER 🤘🔥😎🔥🤘
Please check out invincible
Tool is a drug and I’m addicted.
The best way to describe Tool I’ve found is A) a heavy Pink Flyod
B) the best band on the planet 🤷🏼♂️🖤🤤 also I’ve been a Tool fan for a looong time & “Schism” is one of the very few songs they have that really isn’t ….my taste? 🤔 for me? 🤷🏼♂️you know what I mean 😉
Modern day Pink Floyd. King crimson influence as well
Bill Hicks homage.
Arizona Bay comedy routine by him will make this make more sense.
...and, yes, FUCKING ALL OF THEIR SONGS are that good! 🤣
Face melting.
Thing is their influences aren't from anything they sound like. It's poetic more than literal
Please check Pink Floyd - Hey Hey Rise Up (feat Andriy Khlyvnyuk). It's first song Pink Floyd on 28 years and it's so powerful..
Return to Schism after you've gone through a few Tool tracks. would love to see your return reaction
Tool is Tool
They are the box 📦
I really like your opinion on being influenced in music.
Thank you 🙏
You should do a 2nd "schism" reaction.
Subscribed for more Tool
Thank you! More tool on the way 🤘

Go back to early Tool - Undertow. I think you'll connect to it more or quicker.
You get hypnotize and don't do drugs lol
would like to see your reaction to Undertow by Tool. the album and the song.
Added to the list 👀📝
Check out "Forty Six & 2" by Tool! you won't be disappointed
Tool is more of an experience than a band. Spiral Out...
💯
If we create our own realities I created TOOL. You are all welcome.
What are some of your favorite raps to rap, rapper?
Sean staxx - smoke. That’s a good one and has a music video 👀
Yeah...no ...dont do official vids....those are Adam Jones projects. Fan made vids are ok...if you can find them...lyric vids are good.
Id like to see you react to The Pot, Right in Two...and forward down the spiral.
Good vid!
Honestly it's easier to suggest which Tool songs to NOT listen to... which is none.
Pneuma
Tool has some amazing songs, but their fans like to sniff their own farts too much. They think by listening to tool they're learning metaphysics or something. It's really not that deep. A basic English high school class could read between the lines and understand the messages.
Off beat.
