I have had a booth at a local Market for about 2 years, here in Australia. It's only open on Sundays and booth holders have to attend. Somme weeks I make a small profit, other weeks I'm lucky to break even. I sell a mixture of crafted items and vintage decor. The rent is pretty high but I have a large room and I can leave it there and close up at the end of the day. I have social media but I don't seem to get much interaction from them. I'm trying out a UA-cam channel and Ebay to see if it helps. I see so many similar business' doing very well and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong but I do it because I love.
Well if I have learned anything on this You Tube journey it’s this: just be yourself, be consistent and just because someone else takes off right away it doesn’t mean you won’t. The timing of everyone’s channel and business is different!
I love that you shared the break down and behind the scenes look at your expenses to run a booth. I would love to rent a booth some day but right now I do work full time and have a UA-cam channel of my own. I can’t imagine running a booth as well but I definitely need somewhere to sell all of my products! I would love to see more updates as time goes on if you are willing to share.
It came out of a need to sell all the stuff I was making for my channel. Also, I am able to advertise my channel in my booth so I am hoping to get more locals to subscribe too! It has been an adjustment getting a video out each week and working out the booth stuff. I can see how it will be better once I get in a rhythm and learn a little more what sells! Girl- love your channel- and Henry too. I have a 11x8 booth in a 55,000 square foot mall. I pay 241 plus 10% for advertising and credit card charges. I make my rent and then some every month- but so much work! I don't have any help and sometimes it's a lot of heavy lifting. Like yesterday- putting new shelving in- I was there 3 hours. Plus thrifting and remaking stuff. I make my moola on smalls- cute small pics and for some reason antique doilies- I sell the heck out of them. Had to take my metal art out of there because of theft- wow- lots of theft of my spoon rings and my antique rings. My mall won't let you lock anything up. I put new stuff in every week. I live in a metro area where there are TONS of thrift stores, and it's a tourist destination too so we get the people. So proud of you!! Keep on rockin it out- I can't wait to see how you do.

Building your inventory is an investment. You need to keep a full booth to draw people in. You did great making any profit in your first month. My sales tripled when I got a bigger space at my vendor mall. I had to spend more to fill it up but it is well worth the investment. Love your channel ❤️❤️❤️

I finally got a booth in a place I had been shopping in for over 15 years. Started the booth several years ago when I became a product retailer. 10 x 10 is $205 but no commission on my sales. A booth is necessary if you retail products and create. So congratulations and looking at your booth I think you’ll do well🥰
Congrats on a profit! I have heard most businesses lose money for the first 2 years , so you are off to a good start. You learned a lot and you will begin to find that magic spot between what brings you joy and what your customers want. Keep on keep in’ on!
....also....my suggestion...visit your booth more often....so you can talk to possible customers and offer a discount if they bundle!...that happened to me and a booth owner😉👍👍👍
One of the biggest issues with malls is proper pricing. Keep an eye on other booths. A lot of people really don't do their homework and underprice because they don't know what they have. I use to get some great buys from others in the mall and all I had to do was swap a tag and made some pretty good proffits

You have a lovely booth. I owned an antique mall for many years and after I sold it, I rented a booth. I am now retired from that and purchase antiques for my home only. I tell others that you can't go by month to month - the real profit/loss story is at the end of the year on Schedule C. LOL. You got this!

I will say that I have known people who got started doing the same sort of booth thing as you and at first it was slow but over a period of 3-6mo it really started picking up steam for them! Now they are SO busy because they have to constantly restock their shelves to keep their booth's full because it is selling so fast! So I hope that encourages you! You got this!
This sounds so familiar...I started out at 100.00 monthly up to 640.00 in about 2 years. Sold smalls and money makers cabinets, tables, etc. Most painted and upcycled. It was a hobby and business. Tags, cards and credit card charge is a pain. You have the business sense and will do great. Your personality is awesome. Prayers for you.

I've been in the black every month since my Once Upon A Time. However, this past month (my 13th month) I had to throw in 8.72 to cover my rent. As I'm reflecting upon my experience, I'm beginning to understand that having an online shop is much more profitable. I believe that this is the direction I will be taking along with doing vintage markets and the like.
Another channel said something that may apply . One you can't stay just bc , maybe location is not right fit .also maybe items are not right for the clientele , you may be more vintage high retail an the location more rummage sale . If your still not making a profit after looking at these then yes stick to online sales only ..

I have an antique booth, it will be one year end of May. I'm trying to get to the level of channels like this . I make my booth rent each month , an do turn a small profit . I'm trying to get where it makes a profit for fun money 💰 vacation etc. Don't be afraid scope the competition make pricing competitive also beta test items see what gets snatched . At my location a realtor looks for gifts for clients . So let them know your booth exist . I sell $5 fashion jewelry, farmhouse decors , clothing sells well for me . Right now is absolute struggle 😫. I've learned alot here an from sonnet I love the thinking which is simple an easy an not that God superior complex . Sorry hope this makes sense , storm kept me up all night , I need sleep .. good luck .
I have had a couple of people ask if I would sell online and I’m not ready to start that just yet. I can see how it would take out a lot of overhead and not saying “no” just “not yet”! Let me know how the online transition goes!

Very helpful! Doing the same and feeling a bit nervous especially since we are over2 hrs away from our booth location. You have staged your space beautifully! We are headed over to set up our space this weekend and then the Antique Mall opens next month. I have had profitable Re-sale booths for many years. My advice to you is to ALWAYS take advantage of your aisle space, and NEVER show the backside of your furniture to the aisle side, which looks like is something you did. Put furniture items, Back to back, With one piece facing the aisle, And another piece facing inside your booth. Is your booth at Queen of Hearts? GOOD LUCK!!.
I've had my booth for 5 years now and do very well. As others have said location is very important. I'm not sure if others have asked do the owners avértise enough? Have events? Are you near lakes or water which I am nautical does very well around now when cabins and cottages will be opening soon. And have lots of smalls those are the items that will help your rent until a large piece sells. Also one summer vacation starts be prepared for slow months when families are away on vacation. It’s a great start. A lot of places pass on the cost of using a credit card to the customer. You could put a small sign near where you take payments to let the customer know. Your booth looks ver nice. I would like to see more greenery to draw my eye to items. Such as the three stacked baskets in the corner. Open the top one and add greenery hanging out. Thanks Heather

I have a booth in Magnolia, Ar. I pay only my booth fee. I don’t pay any credit card fee’s nor any percentage to the owners. The owners fill that you pay the booth fee you shouldn’t have to pay any other fee”s . Good luck with your booth .

I have made the mistake of not tracking cost of good because with painting them or adding embellishments I did not know how to figure costs. My first month I sold one more item than you for a total of about $100 less but my rent is less…. I am probably at the same $4 as you- lol!
Your booth looks great! I've had a booth for about 30 years. You will acquire a following of customers that will come to shop your booth specifically! I am blessed our mall does not charge Commission and debit/credit card fees are only about 1%. I also will occasionally post on Facebook and make some quick money that way. Good luck!

I've been in the black every month since my Once Upon A Time. However, this past month (my 13th month) I had to throw in 8.72 to cover my rent. As I'm reflecting upon my experience, I'm beginning to understand that having an online shop is much more profitable. I believe that this is the direction I will be taking along with doing vintage markets and the like.
Another channel said something that may apply . One you can't stay just bc , maybe location is not right fit .also maybe items are not right for the clientele , you may be more vintage high retail an the location more rummage sale . If your still not making a profit after looking at these then yes stick to online sales only ..

I have an antique booth, it will be one year end of May. I'm trying to get to the level of channels like this . I make my booth rent each month , an do turn a small profit . I'm trying to get where it makes a profit for fun money 💰 vacation etc. Don't be afraid scope the competition make pricing competitive also beta test items see what gets snatched . At my location a realtor looks for gifts for clients . So let them know your booth exist . I sell $5 fashion jewelry, farmhouse decors , clothing sells well for me . Right now is absolute struggle 😫. I've learned alot here an from sonnet I love the thinking which is simple an easy an not that God superior complex . Sorry hope this makes sense , storm kept me up all night , I need sleep .. good luck .
I have had a couple of people ask if I would sell online and I’m not ready to start that just yet. I can see how it would take out a lot of overhead and not saying “no” just “not yet”! Let me know how the online transition goes!

It sold one of the first days of April…finally! I think I’ll make another one with the other birds in the Brocante transfer book now. Hard to sell because I want to keep it!

Very helpful! Doing the same and feeling a bit nervous especially since we are over2 hrs away from our booth location. You have staged your space beautifully! We are headed over to set up our space this weekend and then the Antique Mall opens next month. Here in Portland Oregon it is booked up solid with months long waiting lists.So we are setting up over at the coast which gets a lot of tourist traffic. Thanks for keeping it real. My advice to you
is to ALWAYS
take advantage of your aisle space,
and NEVER show the backside of your furniture to the aisle side, which looks like is something you did.
Put furniture items,
Back to back,
With one piece facing the aisle,
And another piece facing inside your booth.

I've had my booth for 5 years now and do very well. As others have said location is very important. I'm not sure if others have asked do the owners avértise enough? Have events? Are you near lakes or water which I am nautical does very well around now when cabins and cottages will be opening soon. And have lots of smalls those are the items that will help your rent until a large piece sells. Also one summer vacation starts be prepared for slow months when families are away on vacation. It’s a great start. A lot of places pass on the cost of using a credit card to the customer. You could put a small sign near where you take payments to let the customer know. Your booth looks ver nice. I would like to see more greenery to draw my eye to items. Such as the three stacked baskets in the corner. Open the top one and add greenery hanging out. Thanks Heather

I have a booth in Magnolia, Ar. I pay only my booth fee. I don’t pay any credit card fee’s nor any percentage to the owners. The owners fill that you pay the booth fee you shouldn’t have to pay any other fee”s . Good luck with your booth .

I have made the mistake of not tracking cost of good because with painting them or adding embellishments I did not know how to figure costs. My first month I sold one more item than you for a total of about $100 less but my rent is less…. I am probably at the same $4 as you- lol!

I Had a booth for about 12 yrs. I found it was a fun hobby but your rent is high if it covers shopping That’s Good!

Your booth looks great! I've had a booth for about 30 years. You will acquire a following of customers that will come to shop your booth specifically! I am blessed our mall does not charge Commission and debit/credit card fees are only about 1%. I also will occasionally post on Facebook and make some quick money that way. Good luck!
