can't believe I have never heard of this car I love it
Such a sick car. It must still be around in some million dollar collection
NEVER STOP DOING THESE. Please.
haha
Fun fact: Ferrari achieved a 2nd place in the official WRC rally at the 1982 Corsica rally with the 308 GTB driven by Jean-Claude Andruet. He was actually leading the rally going into the last day and would've won but on the last stage it started raining up in the mountains and that dropped Andruet to 2nd.
I'm happy to see an episode on this beaut
The most interesting thing is, that's F40 for most (not me), best Ferrari ever made, has 288 engine, and that's is why it's turbocharged
Unless I missed it, some important points are missed. The point of a larger, performance brake kit is not primarily diameter and leverage/brake force. The primary reason is an increase in surface area and increase in contact patch between the pads and discs. As was pointed out, brakes are effectively giant heatsinks, converting rotational energy into heat. Increasing the surface area of the pad increases the size of the friction surface and conversion rate of rotational energy to heat, and the larger discs increase the rate at which the heat can radiate to the environment. What you've done is change the curve at which the mechanical/heat energy conversion happens with minimal impact on the tires contact patch. Now, that being said, increasing the contact patch of the tire, grippier rubber, lighter wheels, etc will all further improve breaking performance, and there are some other factors that play a bit of a role like brake component weight, material, pad material, etc.
I've heard of this car but didn't know it was a group b car
Man if Gran Turismo could add this...
Great vid! Thanks for posting
There where many test cars/prototype cars made for group B, many more than most people expect. Thats one of the reasons i love group b cars, because there a bit of a mystery about them.
Looks like ferrari 288 gto evoluzione
Would love to see this in a game, even if as a mod
I didn't know other teams used Ferraris I thought the F-40 prototype was going to be the first.
for a group B car, it seriously looks harmless, nearly cartoon like.
lol, it actually reminds me more of Group S
Screamers lol. The Audi Quattro was and still is a monster. RS200, Lancia delta and Stratos. Rallying in Group B was a Golden years
Waiting for Vector W8 UNSUNG HEROES episode
Haha, probably won't be an episode tbh, since GT2 made it pretty popular. I have already featured a Vector though, the SRV8
@@HSGAutomotive Ok then next contender BMW Hurricane Prototype
Wait how did the car weighted 840 kg when the limit was 890 kg
Vehicles are often very different in testing/qualifying form, and since it never raced at the time it most likely never tested with regulation ballast weight.
Sierra cosworth RS500. This car deserves a mention on your hallowed list mike ... so far we’ve seen no inclusion of it in GT ..
This just ain’t right, is it?
I do like the RS500 yeah, but its also very well known thanks to us Brits :P
