- Every year in October I post a video taking a look back at how I've travelled over the past twelve months. This not only includes changes to the workshop in the form of a workshop tour, highlighting what's been added to the tool list and what features I've added, but also a deep dive into my content, how it performed and what my plans are for the next 12 months. Spoiler alert, there are some rather major changes on the near horizon ;)

We are not due until mid-November, but the doctors say could be any day now so constantly on alert :) Thanks for being such a great sport and joining in the random fun Mark, myself and others rope you into 😜 I am very happy I have got the workshop into this nice place before my time becomes a bit restricted. Once the dust extractor goes in that will be all the plans I wanted to finish pre-bub bub. Hopefully she wants to join me in here one day 🥰
Doing a review every 12 months on UA-cam is a great idea. I really liked the addition of the UA-cam stats in this video to let everyone know how the channel is tracking.
I like to think I have a very 'normal' sort of channel that is just like a lot of others. Focused on garage power tool woodwork, but with some DIY and tool reviews. The simple fact is for most people, woodwork builds are not going to get views unless very practical in nature. Things that come up in search will drive channel growth rather than a loyal subscriber base, unless you are very charismatic and/or tell good stories. Comparing numbers and content type I hope shows folks interested in filming what they can expect to some degree :) Plus, for me it is a record of where all my time and money went over the last 12 months 🤣🤣
Congratulations on becoming a dad. Enjoy that journey and find solace in the workshop when you need it.
What is going to be even more fun is my parents-in-law will be staying with us from overseas for a few months once bub is born... in our 2 bedroom unit 😅 The workshop will be a great escape when I can :P

I was wondering if you'd be making the trip down! As long as my little girl doesn't decide she wants to visit early I will be there.... landing Saturday and home again Sunday... just in case 😅
Yep we will be there. Same as you. We fly down late Friday and back on Sunday morning. Wouldn’t miss it. Very much looking forward to the catch up. Hopefully you make it but think your excuse if you don’t will pass 😀 very exciting!!

Cheers mate! I am a public servant by trade these days but the little buisiness is slowly graowing. Turned a profit last financial year for the first time and taking on the gardening here this year ensures I will again. It's a nice little side income now... though YT is definetely for fun, the income it makes basically pays for the tools and workshop, so the handyman/gardener stuff is where the profit comes in. I have fun doing it all and I think it will remain so as long as it is not my main income. Going fulltime = no more fun I think 😅
Great video again James. I love the catch up videos and it’s nice to see how other peoples Chanels have grown and what videos perform well.
Enjoy your time with the little one when they arrive. Content can always wait and I’m sure that in the end they will give you more projects to complete than you ever imagined.
I am glad I binged your channel recently Ross, much inspiration for the child-related content in my near future ;) I don't look into the analytics too much but it is always interesting to compare at the end of each year and see what the punters are keen on. Cheers mate!

Congratulations to five years on the tubes! I think I celebrate four years in a couple of weeks. And a bigger congrats on the kid - a really great making collaboration! 😁 You will definitely not have as much free time (and be a good parent) but as long as you are somewhat organized and take the opportunity's you get, I'm sure you'll make it work!
Now I need to break out the "Fancy Dress" for the birth... just to impress the Doctors :D

It looks like it's been 5 years for me on UA-cam as well. I actually started this Just after my son was born so it's possible to balance all the things even with a newborn there. Here's to another 5 🍻🍻
I am looking forward to all the child inspired projects I am sure will be requested by the lovely wifey ;) Also my father-in-law will be living with us for a while, so perhaps he'll enjoy joining me in the workshop.

Small bit of feedback, I did not know you did 'shorts' - I have never been notified. Perhaps they are on a different channel title of yours.

Yes "Shorts" don't appear in your regular feed, but they are on my channel. You can find them by going onto the channel page or in your "Subscription" feed usually. They really are a separate beast and audience.

And believe me it doesnt change ive 3 and think its been about a month since been in shop between not being able get down and school/nursery holidays. 😬😬 Shops looking wicked. Cant wait see upgrades. I'll have my parents-in-law with us for a few months to help, but luckily a lot of the work I do that actually makes money I can film too ;) So while I probably won't get in the workshop too much, the new gardening gear needs reviews, there will be paid handyman jobs I can film and hopefully chip away at some woodwork in between naps :D We'll see! Thanks Rob, I am getting pretty excited, due any day now. Apologies on the lighting, I guess it hides my pasty white wrinkles?! 🤣 I use auto-balance on the camera for the exposure and while I'm sure I could play with the settings each shot Im not that keen, editing takes long enough ;)
