Love this movie! Just discovered it a few weeks ago and was dismayed to read that the critics disliked it. Critics are so out of touch with audiences. This movie made me laugh and cry. Isn't that what movies are supposed to do? Matthew Goode makes my heart skip a beat!

Well, I can say without reservation that this is the sweetest movie I've ever seen. Mr. Goode's voice, when he said "She paid me," was so soft and dignified in comparison to the rather loud and brash voice of her fiance. I'm sure it was deliberate on the part of the director, and it worked for me. My God, how could she walk away from him. I loved the chemistry between them in the castle when he finished its story, the garden and cooking, his comments about a father. Sweet, sweet portrayal.

Nah, then the ending wouldnt have been so great. The suspense is what makes it. Even know you know he is going to following and proposal, that is obvious.

Lots of couples get married without nearly that degree of conviction, so it seems like they would have just as good a chance of staying together as other couples--maybe more , because they've been completely honest with each other all along..
@Miz J I firmly believe that doing otherwise would mean DISASTER! and, in that scenario, it would've been worse if children were involved! As for them staying together, I'd say more.

The two old guys remind me of Statler & Waldorf on the Muppets:) Wish they would have been in more scenes. I would love to see Amy & Matthew do a sequel:)

Amy Adams is always classy. Wonderful music and beautiful Irish countryside. A tastefully done film that I certainly have watched a few times.
