As a law-abiding black man, I don't think this pervasive crime will ever really end within my community. I grew up poor and was made fun of for "talking white" simply because I chose to get an education and act like a decent human being. As long as that attitude remains, we'll see more and more stories like this.

@CM V I'm white and grew up poor. I was from a poor community even though my parents both worked HARD ... My parents did NOT drink or do drugs we went to church. Our poor community attended a school system 15 miles out of town . The school system looked down on us from our poor community so because of where I was from in 7th grade one of my teachers threw chalk and erasers at me.. I wanted to die!!! MY 3 BROTHERS and 3 SISTERS all grew up moved and are super successful. All our children have attended college and my son has a PhD. I agree with you GET OUT and make something of yourself.

The reporter asked if the officer knew the shooter's age before he shot him. Who cares!! Whether you are 12, 13, or 85, if you shoot at an officer or any law-abiding citizen, you may receive the same in return.

I grew up in a bad neighborhood and my father was not in the picture. I thank my mom all the time for how she raised me to be a good human being. People can say it’s the environment but it starts at home regardless of the environment. That’s why I try to raise my kids 3 teenage boys and 1 girl to be good human beings and people with morals and integrity.
