My name is Matthew and I live in a van. I lost my job due to "cut backs" from the pandemic of 2020 and decided to seriously restructure my life. I am also a single dad who needed to find a solution that would allow me to remain in my daughter's life and plan for her future. After tons of research into #vanlife, I knew it was for me.
From March 2021 until October 2021 I spent my days building out my Chevrolet Express 2500, which came to be known as "Lucky" and as of October 18, 2021 I have been living in Lucky full time.
The build was done with almost no experience on my end and I used the one incredible tool I had at my disposal - the internet - to learn what I needed to build Lucky into a very comfortable tiny home.
I have always had a bit of a passion for being in front of the camera and really enjoy capturing the world around us. This really played into how I was feeling after almost a year of working from home when I "commuted" from the bedroom to the couch. I was starting to feel extremely unhealthy, unmotivated and despondent. I HATED that, and that's not a word I like to throw around. This new lifestyle gives me opportunities I just didn't have before and I am so excited to be able to share it all with you.
I truly believe we all have the capabilities to turn our lives around, should we choose to do so - and if I can inspire you to shoot for something better then I have done a decent job and that will keep me going.
There is more to life than the consume, consume, spend, spend lifestyle I feel we have all been conditioned to follow and I just want to do the best I can for myself first and foremost. Our time is limited and I do not want to waste another second on a lifestyle that doesn't bring me joy!

I recently found your channel and instantly fell in love...with Penny and Stella of course. I am binge watching and trying to catch up to the present. I love your content!!! As I still have gaps in my knowledge of Lucky and your adventures I will leave you with this for now... You have definitely gained another follower, I thank you for sharing your life with us. I have laughed at you, with you and cried for you in the 4 days since I found your channel. I think it takes immense courage to live your life on your own terms either by choice or circumstance. I lost my soulmate 6 years ago to cancer and shortly after I lost my job and my home. My son and I moved in with my Mom and Stepdad and made a mini apartment in the basement. I fell in love watching anything to do with living in a van, school bus, shuttle buses and the like. I would love to do this one day but I don't have the means just yet. Thanks again for sharing with us and giving people like me hope in a life of my choice!! God Bless!!!

Matthew I never knew that Canada was so big, it's a Beautiful place, my father-in-law died of lung cancer a few days back, and my mind has been in a funk, I'm so glad u have these videos, I finally got caught up, watching u got me right out of that funk, thank u for being u, I love ur up lifting ways. That’s awesome 😂 driving around Jasper ave and Whtemud …. Yes getting close to the silver balls and then finding them covered 😮. A guy crawled in the centre of the balls and got trapped. So they had to fix them so no one else stupidly crawls to the top, falls in, and gets stuck 😂😂😂

When you crossed that bridge my anxiety level shot up again just as it did every time I had to take that route and I avoided it as much as I could. If you took us down Jasper Ave, I sure didn’t recognize it. I still miss White Ave. district . Was a great preppy place to meet up with friends. Been 17 yrs since I lived in what used to be called the “City of Champions “. My family are still out west AB/ BC and loving it. Thanks for the memories ❤🐈

Goodness I absolutely LOVE ❤️ riding along in Grace with you! I had a Jeep Cherokee in 2000 (?) and I loved it! But you are so entertaining! I moved from Ga to Texas in 1984 and moved back to Ga in 1996. When I left the main road in my area was two lanes (no turn lanes), when I returned….it was 6 lanes (3 going each direction) PLUS an additional turn lane in the center. Talk about confusing! And they moved stores around on me! How dare they! Thanks again for an exceptional vlog!

The silver balls on Quesnell bridge are still there. Somebody decided they needed to climb on them, and then slipped inside the sculpture. He then needed to be rescued by the fire department who had to cut him out of the structure. Many monthes to repair! Love your channel

Oh! I think I know the silver balls you’re referring to. There was something in the news about a guy crawling in and getting stuck inside. A fire truck came and cut into it to let him out, then it was revealed that the thing had a door 😂.

I discovered a new band tonight on the best Timcast episode ever as he hosted The Defiant, on his first music podcast. I never recommend usually but I would love it if others heard and supported them. They are the real pirates of music made from old punk and ska stars from back then, when the world was, (somewha), understandable.

I used to go to Galagher's, probably when you were there!!! I used to live across the street. There was a cat lady who had over 100 cats on her property one block away from where you met Penny, I wonder if she came from there.

To the person who posted that they were unsubscribing because the videos don’t make sense, I would offer that perhaps, as long as each video on its own can be watched without too much confusion, try just taking each video as a small snippet of Matthew’s life and don’t worry if they don’t make sense back-to-back. There may come an ‘aha’ moment when the timelines just start to make sense.
