I get it, it's a tool for emergencies, to give a stranded car just enough charge to get to a real charging station. I won't mock it for burning gas to run an EV. But I will sure as hell mock it for being $3000 worth of hardware for sold for $7000, unless you can very clearly explain how those plastic frame covers and REV decals are worth a $4000 markup over the $2600 Champion generator with a $399 Emporia EVSE bolted to it.

to handle exceptions which is paid for by the driver.

    So it's a portable generator.

Its moronic isn't it? I'm prepared to bed that a mini-industry pops up where lazy or dumb EV owners regularly just call someone with one of these.

@@eyeLikeCarrots why not, it exists for lazy or dumb ICE owners who run out of fuel.

NOT compatible with all makes & models... That's a traditional Generator with some light cosmetic modifications & a Level II Charger controller mounted to it... The problem? It's a regular generator, Not an INVERTER generator. regular generators produce a Modified Sine Wave electrical output... Think "dirty power" This is NOT the same power that comes from plugging in to city power off the grid. Only an INVERTER generator will produce a PURE SINE WAVE electrical output.. "Clean Power" Yes, some EVs will Charge off a regular modified sine wave generator, But it can be damaging to the longevity of the battery pack and most EV manufacturers warn against using a modified sine wave to charge due to potential long term damage to the battery or inverter & electronic components. Other brands of EVs may appear to accept power for a short period of time, but the onboard electronics recognize it's not a Clean power source & it stops accepting power... meanwhile, unless you're monitoring the load meter on the power source to notice it stopped accepting power... you waste time before you notice it hasn't been charging. Inverter generators usually cost about 2-3x more than a traditional generator for the same output capacity. Level I (115volt common household plugs) & Level II (240volts) charging are using each vehicles onboard Inverter... taking AC power from the city power or a generator/inverter etc... and it runs thru the vehicles built in inverter that converts it from AC power, to DC current for the battery (batteries are DC) (Super Charging stations charge faster because it bypasses the vehicles inverter & it inputs direct DC power direct to the vehicle battery pack, allowing higher amperage charging. Claiming 1 mile per minute of charging is debatable because the rate of charge is determined by each individual EV... the size of the battery pack as well as how much power the onboard inverter can accept. regardless how much the power source can deliver, it's limited by the vehicles inverter limit & battery capacity. This is way overpriced by about $3000 even based on retail prices for the equipment in it that anyone could buy... and it's still not an Inverter power source with clean power... Not all power is created equal... and with as expensive & "smart" as many are now... customers deserve the correct Pure Sine Wave power source. This same output system could be bought & assembled for about $4k for an inverter with MORE output (retail, not even wholesale)with same amperage output but with Clean Inverter power.. and a few hundred for a premium Level II Charger controller box. Profit is one thing, but $3,000 profit on a product that isn't even the correct Pure Sine Wave power source? no thanks.
