    POSSIBLE SPOILERS:
    That cameo scene is the scene that genuinely brought a tear to my eye. It was done so perfectly and it carries a lot of weight and meaning to Doctor Who. In regards to Easter Eggs or things like that, my favourite was the fact that they recreated the scenes so perfectly that from a 3 second layover shot you could tell that they were shooting The Edge of Destruction or The Sensorites. Mark Gatiss has always impressed me with his dedication to the show and this proves it; i'm not going to say well done to him, i'm going to day Thank You

    One of my favorite "Easter egg" moments was when Sydney Newman said that he'd come up for the idea of The Avengers, and when asked what it was about, he said he had no idea, and he'd let someone else figure it out. Being a fan of 60s TV, I really appreciated that reference to The Avengers, which was a spy show that Newman actually did create.

  • @sgste
    @sgste 10 років тому +4

    I loved the really subtle reference (if it was, as It's so subtle, it may not even be there!), when Lambert and Newman were exiting the BBC building early on, they push open a door that says, on the opposite side 'push' (meaning they pushed a pull door, like the doctor does!)

      Do you think at some point the BBC will give up the search for loss episodes, gather all the old scripts and material of said episodes, hand them to a production staff and with finality say "OK. Reboot. We'll never find These, so it's up to you to remake these with present day actors and so forth."

    Just watched it and I gotta say the cameo you speak of in the end actually put a tear in my eye, was beautifully done, and the part where he is crying and saying I don't wanna go, seemed to be referenced to tenants last moments as the doctor, all in all really enjoyed it and will definitely watch a few more times...roll on the 50th!!!!

    Ah, just seen this after posting on your other Dr. Who vid. I was going to say how much I enjoyed AAISAT and when William Hartnell (David Bradley) says "I don't want to go" it was really touching, as was the cameo at the end.
    It seems quite fitting that AAISAT was also the very last drama shot at the old BBC building before they moved.

    Reece Shearsmith as Patrick Troughton was a brief but fun easter egg - he's one of Gatiss' longtime collaborators from their League of Gentlemen days (along with Steve Pemberton), it's always fun to see them pop up in each other's projects.

    I don't know if this is an Easter egg or not but like at the end when it was William last day as the Doctor and he said "I don't want go" into a mirror. It was similar to David last words as the Doctor. It made my sister (who a bigger fan than I am) through a piece a paper at the tv. I also absolutely love the cameo, that was the BIG surprise.

    I missed the first couple of minutes, but I throughly enjoyed it. I had bought the dvd containing the first Doctor Who serials starring William Hartnell and it had a special feature about the creation of the show and An Adventure in Space and Time followed it pretty closely. I didn't know anything about William Hartnell as an actor outside of the Whounivese, but it's a testament to David Bradley's acting ability that he made me see Hartnell as an unsympathetic person at first, then he became Doctor Who. I liked how he kept doing the show because he believed he had to keep Doctor Who alive. One of my favorite scenes was toward the end when he's talking to the new producer and he has to bend down under the console and plug it in because the thing wasn't going up and down and you could tell he was getting frustrated because the guy didn't get it, how important it was. I thought the cameo at the end was Hartnell seeing that even though he had to give up being the Doctor, the Doctor will live on. Thank you Verity Lambert, for making them reair the first episode since it was interuppted because of the Kennedy Assasination. If she hadn't been so passionate about the show, we wouldn't be here 50 years later.

  • @AnnaBellaChannel
    @AnnaBellaChannel 10 років тому

    Surprise cameo at the end is a great moment as Bill (William) Hartnell realised that his replacement would be replaced; All the way to 11 and beyond. Therefore Dr Who is his legacy. P.S Peter Capolid was the same age as Bill Hartnell when he got the role last year!

    As much as I love this show, I can't say that I liked the near-end cameo. It took what was supposed to be an historical docudrama and broke the 4th wall by inserting [cameo person]. No matter how much I adore [cameo person], it was abrupt and unnecessary. I can say, however, that ending the show with the actual Hartnell goodbye speech from The Tenth Planet was a lovely touch.

    Last year early in December i sat there in my room... I had Netflix. I tought to myself ''I got nothing to do. Let's see what i can find''. I came across a Series that i've heard of... A series i once clicked by on TV and tought to myself ''What the hell is this crap?''. But i had nothing to do... And i enjoy a good laugh. So i tought ''Why not, rather spend my time watching some funny crap then doing nothing at all''. So i started watching it. The Day The Time of the Doctor came out i had just finished watching The Day of the Doctor. I ha gone trough an journey trough space and time. And it was amazing... In just under a month the series had gone from being soem crap i found on Netflix to being one of my all time favorite TV shows. It was OH so Amazing. Couldn't get enough of it. It was a great epic story full of emotion, humor and just all sorts of crazyness! The show got a place in my heart that Christmas 2013. I now love the show...
    And i think very highly off it. I'll deffend the show no matter what... I'm honest about how wacky it is. How strange it is. But never do i let anyone downtalk it without having seen the show. You may watch it, you may dislike it. But you may not talk shit about it if you haven't taken the time to see it. Didn't think i could love the show any more... I knew who the first Doctor was at this point. I knew who all the Doctors where. Had seen all the regenerations of the Doctor. Had read the basics about the story. And i had very much respect for William Hartnell as the first Doctor. But then i saw this film... And now i know just how much this show means. It's so much more then you would think by just seeing the new show. It's something special. And it made me relise... Even when i'm old, Doctor Who will still be around. Maybe it'll go on a break like it does sometimes. 10+ years..... But it's a show BBC has that will never become to old. It's one of the shows they have that will allways be relevant. Cause Doctor Who isn't limited to any one timeline. It's got free rains over all of history. All of time and space. Billions upon billions of years... They will allways have something to do.
    Doctor Who will survive the test of time... I'll bet almost anything on it. I've tought to myself, i love the show... But Old Who might just be a bit to old for me to enjoy as much as you old timers. Cause i'm a much younger generation... Heck, i'm just 20. I was born into the age of much higher production values... More CG and all that. A different class of acting and a way different type of film. (Just to be clear... I do not diss the old. I respect it. And i do love old films such as King Kong, Godzilla, Ben Hur and such classics. Different whit a TV show tough) So i really couldn't bring myself to watch classic Who. But after seeing this film... I know what i must do. I must at the very least watch the 2 first episodes... Watch The first time The Doctor ever was on screen. And see the very first episode in which the Daleks sayd ''Exterminate''.
    Hell, might even watch what i can of the first Doctor. What episodes still exist. I am aware that some have been lost with time. Sad really... Hope they can somehow bring them back one day. Cause Doctor Who is art of the ages. Something such as it shouldn't be lost. Fellow Whovians... Uhm, i was about to scream out a saying. But, i don't know what! There are so many to pick from... Eh, what the hell. Might just pick the first one that popps into my head. Jellybaby! :D Bet you didn't expect me to know that one... But i do.

    I really liked An Adventure In Space And Time! Very interesting to kind of see how this show that I love was started.
    The cameo at the end was really out of place to me. It didn't ruin the film, but I think it was just weird. It might have worked better if it was shot differently.
    Minor spoiler warning
    I get that the point was to convey that the show lived on, but it just didn't make any sense that William Hartnell would see matt smith.

    The entire thing was just amazing. All of the actors knocked it out of the park, and it is amazing how close they could get Bradley to look like Hartnell. Even the Daleks the first time they appeared were genuinely scary to the point that I agreed when the guy said "They're genuinely creepy." I'm glad I wasn't the only one that was a blubbering mess in the last five minutes. They could have just released those five minutes, and it would have been great. The only thing I wish they could have stuck in was the actual regeneration though I understand why they didn't.
