- Went out to the Big Blue for the first time for rockfish this season. What a blast to be on the ocean with this kayak. Why do I love this kayak so much? This is my review of the Stealth Fusion 480 after 16 months of use.

I started my Hobie life on a Quest 13. Bought a 2014 model which was the first model with the Revo hatch. Still.my favourite kayak I've owned.
I sold it and bought a 2015 Outback and although I loved the Outback, I always regretted selling the Quest 13.
In 2020 I found a brand new old stock 2016 Quest 13 and snapped it up.
Same reason as you, I feel so much more connected to the water. I also find it way more efficient than the Outback. I have a a Werner carbon shaft paddle and to be honest I'm way less fatigued on the Quest compared to the Outback. It paddles so good.
I was going to get a Fusion when they first came out (around the same time, mid 2020 here in Australia) but got the Quest 13 at half the price and it was the yak that made me fall in love with yak fishing to begin with.
Thanks for your review, I think a Fusion will be in my future at some point as I am confident I'll be selling the Outback and keeping the Quest at this point
Quest 13 is a great kayak. It's sad that they discontinued it. If you like paddling, Fusion 480 is such a sweet ride.
looks like a hell of a session to me.. nicely done as usual, beautiful review in any case
Thanks
I have the Stealth FISHA 500, love it great yak.
Maybe one day I'll upgrade to fiberglass.
Get them moo. I hit SC last Wed and only one rockfish and lost a big ling at the kayak.
Still looking for my 40 inch ling 😁😁
Nice review. Very thorough. 👍🙏🎣⚒
Thanks JU
Great stuff! 👍
Thanks
Them Cabezon fight way harder than Lindcod. I caught 20.5" Cabby this past Sunday and I thought I was fighting a giant Ling. lol
Awesome review by the way😉😎
Thanks
I have a 19 outback been using it for almost 4 yrs now and about to get a 2022 revo 13 but then I saw this video, now can't decide
Let me see if I can help you out here. Do you like to paddle? or Do you want to be a better paddler/kayaker? If you answered Yes either or both, I recommend Fusion 480. If you don't want to apart from pedal drive, Revo 13 is in my opinion, best pedal drive for the ocean (as long as you don't weight more than 250 lbs). I think Revo 13 has perfect balance of portability, efficiency and stability.
@@MooMooOutdoors thanks I'm sticking with pedal drive I guess revolution 13 it is and I'm thinking add ama sidekick ,I love that you put a big halibut on the hatch and I'm going to try the high low rig for Ling
Nice! Been thinking of getting a third kayak. The Hobie Lynx. 😅🙌🏽

Thanks Danny.
Very nice review. Like
Thanks
Nice to see you on the water. I hope to be out in the ocean next weekend 🤙. Tight line's Mo . 🎣👐🤙
Go get em
I don't know if you copied Chovy or via versa about the new yup yup thing😜🤣. I might have to do the same. Lol. I guess you are falling in love with your fusion 460.
Don't shorten my kayak. It's 480 😜😜. Couple of things I didn't get to say in this video. Stay tuned for next fishing video 😂🤣
Hey Moo have you tried the Swell Scupper 12/14s? They look like pretty sweet paddle kayaks.
No I have not but Swell Scupper 14 was one of my top choices but had to get the Stealth for the fish hatch. I really want to try the Scupper 14.
I had one. Paddles great, extremely stable. Drains slow, definitely on the list of most uncomfortable kayaks on the market today. Every time you land a fish on a rough day the entire boat is full of water and you have to paddle an extremely waterlogged boat 100 yards or so just to drain it. On a nice day you will spend 1/4 of the day fishing, 1/4 of the day paddling and the half the day bailing and dealing with 6+ inches of water in the cockpit. It's like a combination of a sea kayak and a float tube. Half your body is underwater all day, little storage, paddles nice. Viking profisha 14 is a much nicer boat if you can find one. The Viking paddles 90% as good as the swell and it is unbelievably more comfortable and dry. If Viking made a pedal version of the profisha I would sell my revo in a heartbeat.
@@nathancooper4954 you have to try the "RTM Tempo" angler . It is also based on the classic OK Scupper, same as Scupper 14. Fast, stable and comfortable. Great for touring or long fishing day on water. Big front hatch for fishing or camping gear.
How are you nice to see you paddling again
Thanks
👍👍👍
😁😁
You seem more busy now than you used to be 😉😆
I'm unemployed 😂🤣
🔥👍💯🎣
Catch you next time!
Thanks
Nice cab. I really like those. I miss being out on the water a lot and hope to be back on soon. Hey Moo, msg'd you on NCKA. Let me know if you head down to Big Sur this summer. Really would like to go there. I've been to Andrew Molera but that was a long time ago.
Let's hit it this summer.
Hi Moo, Great looking cabby. We need hit Sonoma Coast together soon.
Yes Sir
How fast is the fusion? Can it keep up with a revo or outback?
I depends on one's paddling skill and leg strength but I can easily outrun Outback. I would say it's pretty similar to Revo 13 maybe slight faster. I can keep up with my friend with Revo 16 just fine but he's a little bit older.
Wait a minute…you eat majority of the RF raw? Man…I want to go to the honey hole for some RF and Lings but every time I’m able to the weather is 💩.
I mostly eat my fish raw. Yeah, weekends has been 💩
@@MooMooOutdoors rockfish sashimi? Never tried before but I know some have tried ceviche.
Yes sashimi or pokey
How hard is it to load onto the car. Do you carry it on roof racks? Is it light enough to lift up or do you use a loader? How do you go about it?
Very easy to cartop since it's about 70lbs but not as easy as the Revo 13 because it's longer. I use this technique below.
ua-cam.com/video/Mhvvh6o30kw/v-deo.html
Have you ever tried paddling south to the rocks offshore?
Starts off at 65 to 85 plus feet. Big lings 😳
Yes I have in the past
I don't see a seat on it. How is it on the back? I have sciatica and used my Ocean Kayak without a seat. Bad idea.
You can get a seat for this kayak but most of us don't use one. It does have lower back support and I never felt like needed one.
Moo ... we all know why you got the stealth. You have to be faster than TLA out to the fishing grounds.. yeeeeew!!!!! ButtKing!!!!!
Looks like a good kayak for getting through the surf...
; )
It's amazing at surf launching and landing. I'm not saying I'll never flip but it sure is so much easier.
Did you ever update the rudder to the lockup rudder? Not necessary?
No I did not. I personally like this under rudder.
@@MooMooOutdoors Thanks for the reply. My Fusion 480 has arrived and I’m setting it up now. Keep up the fishing! Great UA-cam!
Do you enjoy fishing this boat over your revo in 10 mph plus wind days or in say a 2 mph plus current? You definitely made a wise decision waiting for this boat over the swell! I'm just really surprised to hear you sold your revo.
I always enjoy fishing out of a kayak more until 25 mph plus wind Haha.
Hey Nathan, I have a Hobie Outback and a Stealth profisha 575. I love both of them, but they both have their advantages and disadvantages. The Hobie is a better platform for jigging and bottom fishing. Much easier to hold a position. The Hobie is also more pleasant when the wind and current pick up. The Stealth is a quieter, faster and MUCH better if you’re surf launching. There are days here where it’s well overhead and impossible to fish in the Hobie but I can punch right out in the Stealth with no worries for my gear. Love em both. Horses for courses.
First!! Keep the videos coming
Thanks
No ling?! Jk
😢😢
Thuy caught them all. 😜🤣
😭😭
@@MooMooOutdoors so not only Thuy 247 halibut king but ling king too? Moomoo and chovy lost the crowns?
Thuy needs to be banned from kayak fishing. Making me look bad.
