    Hans thanks for the video. Great to see you in the studio back in the day. We both had long hair back then. Those were the days. Good to see Teac is still making quality equipment. The internal build is impressive. I wish it had wi-fi along with Bluetooth. Keep up the great work and rock on!

    You know I wonder what the change is? Basically teac products have long been on the market over the past decade and a half in terms of availability, but I don't recall that many people reviewing them or talking about them. However over the past couple of months yours is probably the 5th or maybe 6th review I've seen talking about teac products.
    Either way, I'm quite happy about it, teac deserves far more attention than they get because of all larger Japanese manufacturers, they're the only one that I've always felt produces a truly high-end product and experience.

      Accuphase, Luxman and Technics?

    • @Audiorevue
      @Audiorevue 2 місяці тому

      @@jamesdwright Yes certainly Accuphase and of course Luxman, esoteric is another one people often forget about, I wouldn't consider Technics high-end even though they make high-end products.
      And that's why I specifically use the term larger companies, because Luxman and of course accuphase are smaller companies, whereas Sony, Marantz, Yamaha, pioneer, Onkyo, Denon and of course teac are themselves much larger companies.

    I enjoyed this review, particularly the circuitry overview. Unfortunate that you were unable to test the SPDIF coaxial inputs as that would be my primary use case. I’m glad to see you examining TEAC, as their products don’t get as much attention by product reviewers, at least in my limited observations. It would be interesting to see if their external clock module makes an appreciable audible improvement.

  • @peterlarkin762

    Thanks for reviewing a preamp, they seem to get ignored by many HiFi channels. I don't think TOSLINK or SPDIF interfaces require a license, possibly labelled 'optical' and 'coax' because it's more obvious to the consumer. And it could be said that spdif/toslink are the communications interface specifications at each end, and the cable itself is coaxial or optical. The cables don't know what they're used for:)

    Hello Hans, I bought this dac two months ago, it is an amazing product. I have listen to it on the headphones 4pin XLR output and it has surpassed my daps AK SP2K and Hiby RS8. I'm wondering if you will review the latest version of their clock. I have ordered the amp Ap-701, which is also a mono design. I hope you review it in the future.
    I have a question for you: Why did you add a streamer to the chain if ud-701N already has a streamer and you could connect it to the network filter? What's the purpose of this?

    • @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel
      @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel  26 днів тому +1

      I might review the clock. As I said in the video: "So I only tested the streaming functions with the Teac HR Streamer app and Roon and the analog inputs with the analog XLR’s outputs of the Grimm MU2 streamer as source."

    Thanks for the review, I have this component on my watchlist. I see mention of a Quad Volume Control System on the Teac Website, is this the same principle as the Variable Gain Transconductance in the Ayre Acoustics AX-5 Twenty?

    Hi, I have the TEAC VRDS 701T CD Transport and love it….a few month ago I bought the external TEAC Clock CG-10M and thats brought a little bit more melting into the music. So I want to buy the TEAC UD-701 and the TEAC AP-701 AMP …..And yes you don‘t read much about the sound. The TEAC UD-701 & AP701 should be harmonize perfectly. Some rare Tester said that the combi plays euphonic and lively …no trace of harsh or cool. So can you tell us more of the sound ? I like the touch of melt when I hear Music …no friend of analytically or too much Details…Music has to flow….next step is to buy the remaining TEAC Devices and the EPOS ES-28N or EPOS ES-14N . Dirk

    Not a fan of 2 channel stereo components looking like AVRs and/or HT processors on the back, but only one line out(s) no sub out(s) makes no sense to me.
    Otherwise the build quality looked really solid.
    Very interesting review

      not sure what you mean by no line outs? you mean as in a tape loop? I mean you can run it in fixed volume mode via RCA or Balanced output into any device of choice.

      @@1061shrink1061 it is single ended in and out. I clarified what I was saying. There are digital inputs. Why not more inputs/output connections?
      Like I said, not looking for a HT processor just more than a single analog in and out
