Geno tanks for uploading this, with so many expat that have high standards of living saying is not posible to live in the PH with less than 1500 a month this gives some hope.

$1,500 a month is over 80,000 pesos in the Philippines; that is a lot of money here. Specially, in the provinces. Two-bedroom apartments in our province of Aklan cost less than 10,000 pesos to rent a month; housing would be your biggest expense here.

Its just how you want to live and how long you want to live. Like you can easily live 800 a month in city and 500 province. You just need to sacrifice everything western. Also stay single. Stay away from province women. You will also die 10 years younger then if you stayed in America living st that price level. So please don’t come here thinking you going to live a comfortable long life under 1500. I live here comfortably at 1500. I can afford healthy food medical check ups and dentist. A neighborhood that doesnt have neigbors with 50 roosters or stray dogs or partying till 3am every night. This isnt America where you call in a noise complaint. You end up laughed at by the local baranguy. All american old man behavior you can do in ameirca also needs to stay in america. Its a whole new world that doesn’t play buy USA rules. This isnt the land of milk and honey. However, if you make decent retirement and a respectable patient person that never loses there cool it can be a great place to live.

@@Adventure5619 You made some good points. I think with the cost of living being so high in the U.S.; people are looking to retire elsewhere. I know besides the Philippines; Mexico, Panama, Portugal, Vietnam, and Thailand are also popular destinations.

Yeah, i guess they used to the $1,500 a month, because they are womanizers, and weekend drinker, also they want american standards in food, housing, medical, soo that cost money, but you ca certainly live on $1000 a month, without a problem!!

Thanks you two ! - - - I'm a retired frugal old man by myself in the US living on $1500 SS / month and it ain't easy. -- Seriously considering moving over there in a $100 apartment an hour S. of Manila near some other US expats for moral support and guidance. Don't drink or smoke. Your budget gives me inspiration that I can do it alone - w/o a dog a wife or a housekeeper. Really appreciate you sharing your budget. --- Thank you both !

You can retire well in the Philippines for $1500 Social Security Sir! U.S. expats will be great support and guidance for you here. Here is my email: ginno1966@yahoo.com. I would be happy to help in anyway. I understand the hardship many Americans face today with retiring in the U.S. on Social Security. I hate seeing it. If not the Philippines; there are so many countries that you can live better than in the U.S. on Social Security. Thailand, Vietnam, Mexico, Panama, just to name a few. Take care Sir.

Really good food 20,000 expats from all over & only $180/year visa cost if over 55 & retired. English there is nearly everywhere and it is even cheaper than the Philippines. Hi guys, As usual, Miss Chloe is trying hard to be in the spotlight.😀 I wish I could trade budgets with you because everything is exceptionally costly in Socal even with budgeting. It does create a brighter home with extra people in the house not to mention you getting enough rest but also keeps Dazel happy and occupied. Take care our friends and we love you guys.

Miss Chloe is the diva! :) I lived in Los Angeles in the 1980s before I joined the Air Force; I remember how costly everything was in SoCal. It's been a blessing for Dazel and I to have Mai-Mai; we could not thank her enough. Dazel would never admit it; but I knew it was hard on her taking care of me. The kids and dogs keep Dazel and I happy and occupied for sure. Take care our friends. Love you both!

Thats reasonable budget but in USA you can not even rent for that total amount it would be 2500-3000 here for all those things plus rent or mortgage. Do you have a break down fund? I put away money each month for in case car probs or refrigerator or stove or microwave break or washer and dryer break. I try to put 125 a month break down fund but sometimes I spend some of it on other things. God Bless. Dazel smile warms my heart.

We actually don’t even hit our $1,000 a month budget. Usually end up saving about $100 of it; use it for things like break down fund or other things the following month. Dazel is the best; she puts the smile on my face.

Uhm. Yea you can. Its all location. I rented a 3 bedroom 2016 till 2022 manufactured home with garage in mid west for 750 a month Till i move to ph. You just need to get out of the big cities i traveled all over america the prices you talk about are expensive states in big cities Get out and explore man. Also if you plan to live here downsize in Ameri so when do its not a big adjustment . Believe it or not My manufactured home is 10 times better for amenities and insulation and sqm then the 3 bdr town house i rent here in the Philippines. Yeah i only pay 450 rent. But i sacrifice alot of things i take for granted in america. This is not land of milk honey there are so many reasons why things are cheaper here then usa.

I would recommend renting first when you get here. Take your time in purchasing a house or buying land to build a house. Real estate is not the same here as in the U.S. Get to know the area where you want to settle down first and the same with finding a real estate agent; take your time. I don’t know of a reputable real-estate agent I can recommend.

I would recommend Iloilo City for you my friend. Since you are coming from a big city; it will an easier transition to move to a nice city in the Philippines than in the province. Dazel and I lived in Iloilo City for 4 months last year during my cancer treatments; we loved the area. We stayed at the Uptown Place Condominiums; steps away from the Iloilo River Esplanade. You should check out our playlists of our Iloilo City videos. Plenty of one bedroom condominiums for under 25k pesos. Iloilo City is the cleanest city in the Philippines and one of the safest. You will live well in Iloilo City on your 126,215 peso budget. You’ll have extra money to travel the Philippines and even save money every month. The mayor of Iloilo City is one of the best in the country. Here’s my email: ginno1966@yahoo.com. Feel free to contact me. We can even talk on the phone if you want. Take care my friend.
