    I have owned one for 20 yrs now. Runs better now than when I got it. I put 3" lift spring kit (about $700 15 years ago) with new shocks and it works great (softer ride, aproach and departure angles are good).
    I replaced the carb with a weber ( about 15 years ago). I built my own bumpers. This is a great little truck even stock. Be careful with tire size because of all the extra torque on driveline parts if you get in deep mud etc, really should change gearing in differentials if large tires are put on. You need to build it for what you use it for, mine is used for hunting, launching my boat, ice fishing, I drive a lot on soft ground ( this unit is very lite and will go over soft ground without rutting it up) and narrow trails (I can go down most quad trails). I love this little truck but rust is getting the best of it. I carry a rachet type winch (5 lbs) and a long sturdy rope. I have only got stuck twice and was able to get out with this system. If those lights were on my suke, they would be smashed in no time going through overgrown trails. Good luck, remember if modifying anything, think it through and do lots of research to get it done right or you may just make it worse.

      Thank for the comment!
      I have it for desert use on mostly hard pack and rock trails. Rust is not an issue for use out here unless you get excessive exposure to the ocean. Unfortunately, I do not get as much use out of it as I would want but it is a solid 4X4 and very fun to explore in. Only upgrades in process are minor comfort and safety additions. I'm keeping it on 31's and am more than happy with the ability and clearance it has off-road.
      It looks like a toy getting towed behind my 1991 Econoline camper van.

    It’s funny listening to guys in California talk about rust and rust prevention.
    Awesome truck man, looks great! Hey from the northeast

      Ha!! I'm out here in the northeast right now and see first hand what real rust looks like! Not a question of if but when....you guys remove rust with a jack hammer, we use a scotch bright pad. 🙄😂

    Nice job overall. Looks good and big improvement. I was thinking when you where taping that you should do the fenders 1st before you tape and do the lighter color. Sucks about the overspray black. Oh well. This is how we learn.

    • @arvbnb9735
      @arvbnb9735  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the comment! Yeah, looking back it may have been better to do the black accents first, I was a bit surprised on how much the overspray traveled but a lesson learned. Overall I was pretty satisfied with the way it came out and at some point will go back and respray a color match bottle to smooth out my mistakes. Still have two bottles left if the 4 pack I bought, soft top samurais don’t have much metal to paint!!

    Digging the colour. Did mine in a tan raptor liner as well!!

    • @arvbnb9735
      @arvbnb9735  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah...I choose the Toyota stock color over the Raptor tan that is available, but they both look nice on the Samurai's!!

      @@arvbnb9735 I went with a custom tan as well - was going to do the toyota but eventually landed on a MACK oem colour. I have some decent photos on instagram.com/suzukisamsquanch

      These things can be cheap if you find one that is not as built up as mine, even the stock varieties are a super fun 4x4 toy.

      @@arvbnb9735 Ive just had a string of bad luck lately that set me back. Almost had one, was a few days out from going to pay and pick it up and my truck got stolen, all my tools in the bed with it. Business i was working for closed down so had to rush to get a job thats basically a minwager. Add on to that a 5 year old running around, it just really stacked up. Luckily my jobs close so i can walk it if i dont have a ride so i can rebuild, save up and do what i gotta do. It just def put things from a "Its happening" to a "Its gonna happen eventually". Im hard headed though and pretty driven so when i set a goal i do whatever i can to accomplish it. So its just a matter of time and effort, man. But hey theres channels like yours that keep the dream alive and give me more knowledge on my future situation. I figure, by the time it does happen, ill have all the information plus some to make the best of it.

    • @arvbnb9735
      @arvbnb9735  2 роки тому

      The actual cost of the paint and associated supplies were not that expensive, I only went thru half of a 4 bottle Raptor kit. If you are able to do all the work yourself, it is far much cheaper than any local auto paint shop would charge. Good luck!

    I almost bought that samurai when it was on craigslist a few years back,i ended up getting a smoking deal on a 88 with similar upgrades as yours for 3k,glad to see your enjoying yours and restoring it,were u able to smog it with the header?(i recall it didnt have a doug thourly smog legal header?)

    • @arvbnb9735
      @arvbnb9735  2 роки тому +1

      Nice! When it was purchased, it had just been smogged within the time needed to register. It does have legal headers but I had to take it to Petro Works to get the carb sorted out. I do not expect to have any issues on the next smog check but will have my fingers crossed!
      Just need to take it out more....it's a fun toy.
