I hope this tutorial comes in useful for anyone looking to building their own C&C cage! Please note that some guinea pigs will chew the correx, which could be harmful for them. An alternative option would be to put the grids *inside* of the correx instead of outside (just measure the widest points including connectors). "Nibble guards" are available but may not stop determined piggies!
Hi Sarah, it's very neat that way, but I used to put the Correx on the outside of the grids, because the piggies chew at it. I bought long camping tables to sit them on, because it doesn't give you backache !! ♥
you can get edge protectors that go over the correx that will prevent piggies from chewing the correx. I have those along all my cages and with no issues at all.
Hi squeak dreams! Me and my little family just bought our first guinea pig and we watch your videos all the time! Hes just a baby pig at 6 months so we needed all the help we could get lol! We have learned a lot from you and you have definitely helped us make our new piggie snotz at home. Ive lost a couple pigs myself in the past on my own so im really sorry you lost some of your piggie friends. Cant wait for a new video! You are my familys number 1 for piggie info!
One of my little piggies cookie just died and left my other guinea pig mocha alone i just got mocha a baby guinea pig for my bday yesterday and i need a new cage thank you for making this video to help, i love your channel!
Lovely tutorial! So nice the transparent coroplast. I found it in The Netherlands as well and we use it on our CC cages; and I was wondering how come I haven't seen it more. Looking forward to your new piggy room ❤🐹 Jip, Bruno, Milo & Zorro.
I eventually want to modify my C*C cage and make it an L shape at some point just not sure when or if ever, I want things but never follow through or almost never. I do personally really love your DIY cage that you regularly use, and would love to also one day have that for my piggies. Again so many wants, but what actually happens are another story.
Great tutorial! I wish I had gone with C and C grids. My two boys are in 2 modified Midwest cages. Total space is 2 feet x 10 feet. There's not as much flexibility with cage design, and in order for the liners to work, you either have to cut them, or use a divider with a ramp. Next time I will definitely go with C and C and repurpose my Midwest cages.
We built a 2 by 14 L shaped cage for our 6 girls. It was pretty easy. The cage sits in top of table so we have storage underneath. We don't have chloroplast tho but it still works. Just gotta wipe walls down n sweep alot lol
Hiya, Bandit and Splodge here!! We love all your videos - but our Mummy has a question about our appetites!! She says that since the weather has turned colder, we have turned into bottomless pits. She makes sure we are warm enough, with lots of places to snuggle, as well as tonnes of hay. We are well and healthy! Do your piggies eat more in autum/winter? Or is it just that we are about to turn 9 months old?? Thank you!!! Xxx❤❤
Hi Bandit and Splodge 😁 it sounds like you are going through one of your final growth spurts and may well be demolishing everything in sight as you pile on the pounds to reach you optimum weight! I have not generally noticed an increase in eating during the winter, but it would make sense as our pigs are small mammals that need more fuel to keep their temperatures up - I wouldn't be concerned about it though 😊 xxx
@SqueakDreams Oh good!! That means we can still keep looking cute and badgering Mummy for snacks!! Our favourite is fresh grass (always washed of course!) and meadow hay, though we enjoy veggies too. Thank you so much for replying! Lots of love and popcorns to you and to Nacho, Phoebe and Callie xxxx
Im getting my own pair of piggys this week and id like to thank u for all the stuff ive learned from ur videos btw im aldo getting a midwest cage is that good?
You're very welcome! The Midwest is a recommended cage, but it is quite small - however it is extendable, so I recommend seeing how you get on and you can always order a second one and combine them for a great sized setup!
I really want a c&c someday! This really helped! Also is this temporary until you get the avtual cage built? Because i know you mentioned it earlier in past videos
Interessant, dankjewel!
Hi I am a new subscriber and I am loving your videos. Do you have a video on how to make a 5x2 coroplast a 4x2. I purchased purchased wrong size so I want to take 2 grids away to male 5x2 but the ready made coroplast I need to shorten and I'm worried I will mess it up. Xx
If you are after cheap correx, you can talk to your local real estate store, as the for sale signs are only ever used once and then disposed of, and the store might be happy enough to let you take any old signs they have, rather than them having to get rid of them.
Some people still use normal grids along the side or back as the clear one tend to be expensive and don't quite hold together as securely as the normal grids - so you could fix a bottle that way. Alternatively, it is possible to drill through the plexiglass, but a special drill bit and method is needed so the plastic doesn't crack - you can google this 😊
Ive got a cage from pets at home and its rabbit 120 i have two guinea pigs and i need a different one because it has a roof and its difficult to see them so this might help
It's not necessary no, lots of people miss out the correx. However I don't see it is being a long term solution unless the correx is very hard to get hold of. Nacho lived in a cage made from just grids which worked okay - but the escaping hay/poops/mess was a bit of a pain!
Hi! I'm a BIG FAN!!!!!!🎉 I'm going to get two "PIGGIES" (Moon (all black with one spot of white and brown on her forehead) Rosie/Smores (looks exactly like Roxie.) But I have a PROBLEM!!! I have an.... ALARM CLOCK! And I have to put my piggies in my room, what should I do??? I don't want to scare my piggies. PLEASE HELP ME😢
They might get frightened at first, but then they’ll get used to it and might even get excited because it means you’re getting up! 😊 If you’re worried about it being too loud for their ears though, you can try finding a different alarm clock that has a bed shaker. It’ll still make *some* noise because of the vibrations, but it’d still be quieter than a traditional alarm clock. My piggies are in my room too temporarily, and they sleep through my bed shaker alarm now!
Have you considered three wide instead of two gives so much extra space for placing things check out my cage on my channel currently I have two piggies in a 3x8

That looked soooo straightforward. Thank you. x
I just came upon 2 guinea girls and your videos have helped so much. This video came just in time!
Using this tutorial today! Thank you so much!
Can’t wait to watch! My piggies live in a 6x7 c&c cage!
Thank you! Wow what a great cage size :D

Horrible news about Cookie , so sorry! 😢 Hope you had a good birthday and that your new piggie is settling in. ❤❤
An amazing video. Helps me SOOO much. Thanks for this, hope you are well, Sarah ❤
Thank you 🥰
Great and informative video🥰💖🙏✨️
Thank you!
Beautifully arranged Sarah 🥰
I did a 2x3 c&c with only plastic squares for my hamster who loved it!

Just finished building mine today. 3x8 c&c! Hoping to adopt my piggies within the next two weeks after the other supplies come in!
Such a wonderfully huge cage! 😍

Yes this is just a demo - making use of the big empty room to do a tutorial before the actual cage arrives and is built 😊
Crazy timing considering I’m buying another c&c cage to accommodate my third Guinea pig, I’m buying that songmics c&c cage from your storefront
Interessant, dankjewel!

Hoi, je kan ook die van Action gebruiken . Ze hebben regelmatig van de opvouwbare opbergmanden. Die zijn 30 x30 x30 cm. Groeten uit Arnhem ❤

I love c&c cages i have one myself but grids are a little pricey for me
The good thing about them is you an reuse the same one over and over 😊
Really good video, I'm going to build my pigs a 2x5 L cage out of the see through grids, but I don't know how to get the water bottle on!🐹

Is a 5×7 c&c cage enough for 2 guinea pigs?
Yes, a 5×7 is bigger than a 2×4. A 2×4 is the minimum for 2
Is huge and for sure enough... you need also lots of hidees and bedding in such a large space...
Hi Sara, how do you find the sounds for your Guinea pig captions, I am trying to find some but all of them are too loud!!😂
I use epidemic sound 😊
@@SqueakDreams thank u!
i have an 8x2 kavee cage for my 4 piggies 🙃
That's a great size! 😁
Ive got a cage from pets at home and its rabbit 120 i have two guinea pigs and i need a different one because it has a roof and its difficult to see them so this might help
Is this size ok for 3 guinea pigs or just 2?
2 by 4 so really just two at most - my three were just doing a bit of a demo 😊
I did 4 x 3 is that okay because I only have two guinea pigs but they seemed really cramped so I made it bigger
4 x 3 is a great size - and I have to agree, 2 x 4 is the recommended minimum, but it does seem small once they and all their stuff is in!
is the correx necessary bc I already have a floor of clear c&c grids
It's not necessary no, lots of people miss out the correx. However I don't see it is being a long term solution unless the correx is very hard to get hold of. Nacho lived in a cage made from just grids which worked okay - but the escaping hay/poops/mess was a bit of a pain!
