'Honeysuckle Rose' NEW Insights - LIVE Replay - Gypsy Jazz Guitar Secrets Lesson
In this lesson you'll learn a really cool gypsy jazz lick that is,
    1. Easy To Play
    2. Very Useful
    3. Sounds Hip
This is just one part of my 10 point masterclass about 'Honeysuckle Rose' which I taught at the Gypsy Jazz Transfusion Club today as part of my regular 'Live With Robin' sessions.
You can play this lick over any 2-5-1 progression.
There are plenty of 2-5-1's in 'Honeysuckle Rose' so lot's of opportunities to get that modern gypsy jazz sound in your solo.
With this lick all you have to do is play the same phrase for the 2 chord UP 3 frets for the 5 chord.
    Here's how to play it over a 2-5-1 in C major Dm7-G7-C
For the Dm7 play the lick starting on the 7th fret (D-E-F-G-E-D)
For G7 play the same lick up 3 frets starting on the 10th fret (like F minor but over G7)
Then resolve to the major third E natural of the home key C major
This is an easy and cool lick to apply at both up tempo tunes and ballads.
    Enjoy!
    Robin

I don't know if anyone has pointed out that you are a brilliant guitarist. but you are! So many other guitarists inadvertently hide their secrets, but you open them all up for us. Oh yes, and I am in the GTC, and really enjoying it.

That's amazing. I know I've asked this before but it sounds like that that guitar has classical strings. I know you linked the strings before but maybe that was for an actual gypsy guitar?

    • @GypsyJazzSecrets
      @GypsyJazzSecrets  4 роки тому

ElectricMoose yes I put some nylon classical strings on for an experiment.. sounds great when amplified but very quiet acoustically. Cheers, Robin
