This was Carrie Henn's (Newt's) last movie role. Acting was not a passion, it was her dream to become a teacher. After graduating she married her college sweetheart, had a child and currently is teaching at an elementary school in Atwater California. Her and Sigourney Weaver remain friends to this day. 😊
Paxton died in 2017 (he was 61) from complications after heart surgery. He was a well beloved actor among his peers and he also dabbled in music as well with a band called Martini Ranch. The video for their song "Reach" was directed by Richard Cameron and features other famous (or maybe familiar) Hollywood faces. Plus there are some muscled up women who are even bigger than Vasquez in Aliens! ua-cam.com/video/CBKxwLRSLHs/v-deo.html
Paxton also directed (and starred in) a video for the Barnes and Barnes song "Fish Heads". It's a bizarre, Dada-like musical piece and was made famous on the Dr. Demento syndicated radio show which had the format of playing strange, novelty records of all sorts. Dr. Demnto (Barry Hansen) appears in the intro section as a drunken man who runs into the fish head fanatic. ua-cam.com/video/cn73Wtem0No/v-deo.html
There are many good movies made these days but now you’ve seen Robocop, Aliens, Terminator and T2 (and many others from the 80s and 90s) you might see that sci-fi action movies were at their best in that era. Those movies were made with blood, sweat and tears. Beautifully made by craftsmen. Modern CGI sci-fi action is cold soup by comparison.
I saw this movie opening night in Westwood, L.A. The huge theater was packed and the crowd was amped before the movie even started. The last 40 minutes was such a roller coaster ride! When the movie ended, the crowd took a collective breath, and sigh of relief. I went back the next day to see it again!
You ladies recognized an actor from this also in "The Terminator." Three actors from this were also in it. Michael Biehn(Corporal Hicks), Lance Henrickson(Bishop), and Bill Paxton(Private Hudson) were also in "The Terminator."
Perfect timing Thx Chi 🙌🏻 Hella 💕🤗 "Game over man 🛸" "Get away from her, you b*tch!" "Hey Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man? No have you ?" She is my fav character 🤩 Fav quotes 👍🏻 Everybody hates Burke 😅 🇬🇧💖🇻🇳
I think your reaction the the scene with Ripley, Newt and the two face huggers was worth charging admission. 😂 I have never seen you two SO animated before. Amazing job as always.
This the most fun reaction to this movie yet. Just hilarious. You're such fun, cherubic, foul-mouthed, pristine, bloodthirsty reacters. Love the way you guys engage with what you're watching. Thank you.
Another amazing reaction ladies. I knew I would enjoy this one. I have never actually liked a channel enough to join a Patreon before, but I just joined yours. Great reaction!
Technically both the humans and the aliens invaded the same lifeless rock. Though the aliens not by choice. Their ship was never their own, and they crash landed, and ended up stranded there. The humans came to terraform that rock unaware of the presence of the alien ship until Burke sent them there immediately after the court hearing with Ripley. Hella and Chi's reaction to the face hugger in the jar going from terror to anger was pure comedy! Had me 🤣you two are great to watch!
12:25 Yes, the two men smiled and chuckled because they were surprised and impressed. She was a woman trying to do a man's job, and they had doubts that she could handle it ... but she could, and did. James Cameron seemed to like to have strong female characters (for example, Sarah Connor in Terminator 2, Ripley in Alien/Aliens) that went against the stereotypes back in those days. Well, that's my take anyway.
12:53 Especially the armour the marines wear was inspired by Vietnam war gear. All the actors got to take their armour home to personalize it to their characters.
Lots of interesting (well I find it interesting) the photo of Ripleys daughter is actually Sigourney Weaver's mother irl. The sergent is a real sergant in the marines and was able to teach the cast some maneuvers/postures etc. The Marine APC was an old towing vehicle from Heathrow Airport and was soo heavy that that they had to reinforce the floor for the atmosphere processing station as it was an abandoned coal power station in the UK that was also used a number of films including Batman from 1989. Also the actor who played Hudson has appeared in many James Cameron films including, True Lies, Titanic, Terminator. The actor who plays Hicks has been in many films as well including Terminator 1, 2, The Abyss and the actress who plays vasquez has been in Terminator 2 and Titanic.
That puts the phrase “like mother, like daughter” in a new light. 😄 Considering _Alien: Isolation,_ I applaud Amanda for living as long as she did. She sure took after Ellen.
One of the best sci-fi sequels around! This is even better than the first one. Imo. You gals are really watching the best movies from the 80s! I hope you continue to watch the rest of the series. There are a couple more alien themed movies in the series! Thanks Chi & Hella you're both awesome!❤💛👽
Fun reaction as always, you two! I'm happy you managed to see the director's cut as there's a lot of little details in those extra scenes that add to the movie.
I would have preferred that scene not shown. In the USA theatrical version the mystery of what happened was far more effective than having that preview of what happened. What the theatrical was lacking was the mother daughter stuff with Ripley and that is what makes the SE version shine. Would have loved a hybrid with the colonist scene removed.
@@tiredoffools8929 Agree 100%, in the theatrical version it ramps up the tension and it feels like you're really going down with the marines and searching the area for the very first time.
I actually met Carrie Henn (NEWT) last year at a convention; days before Halloween. Wish I could share a picture. Got her autograph on my Aliens DVD I was amazed that Bishop remained useful after ripped in half, unlike a certain gold droid in Empire Strikes Back. The actor who played him didn’t know how to read until he was 30 years old! Also, I was ecstatic when the movie was mentioned in an Avengers film and the basis for a rescue plan! They even did a camera shot that was reminiscent of it. Glad you had watched the Special Edition of Aliens. Do NOT bother with the remaining sequels. HUGE disappointments. Normally don’t bother with audio commentaries but I enjoyed the one with the director and cast.
Depending on my mood, Aliens is either my favorite movie, or my second favorite (the one it competes with is Twelve Angry Men....which is about as different as two movies can be). It's a PERFECT sequel. It takes the original and creates a sequel that builds upon the lore, and manages to make something that's faster paced and action packed without losing the tone and feel of the original. I'm afraid I can't recommend any of the Alien movies after this one. It's best just to let the franchise end here on a high note. If you're looking for another series to watch, maybe the Bourne trilogy of films would be a good place to go next? They're very different from other things you've watched. Kind of quasi-spy thrillers.
Bill Paxton acted in the very first terminator movie, Vazquez which is roled by Jeannette Goldstein, she was the foster parent of John Connor in Terminator 2
That was the loudest reaction I've heard from you two! xD Looks like you really enjoyed it. Made me laugh when Chi said "Ah Newt's gone, accept it!" xD Very dry humour!
There are several video games based on this franchise, but one of the best is "Alien Isolation" where the player character is actually Ripley's daughter who has to escape a space station that becomes infested with the xenomorph.
"Aliens" has been my favorite film since I first saw it. I think it is amazing. It is the perfect movie. I somehow fell down the movie reaction rabbit hole a few months ago and have subscribed to quite a few channels that I really enjoy. This is the first time I have ever commented on one, and I just have to say that your channel has become my favorite in a matter of days. I just ADORE you two. You're both incredibly sharp with the way you catch so much on your first viewing, not to mention absolutely gorgeous. This is hands down my favorite reaction video out of the hundreds I have watched on dozens of channels. Please keep them coming. Also, despite what so many other comments say, you should absolutely watch the Assembly Cut of "Alien 3". It is a massive departure from this movie, but it's still great imo.
Whenever you are so invested in a film and something happens, you Ladies swear. I don't swear very often in my daily life, and I feel the same is true for you. But I have to say, for some reason hearing the two of you swear brings me so much joy. I cannot explain why. It is just so wonderful to my ears. Maybe it's the tone or accented vocal inflection. Whatever it is, I find a warming glow and charm to it. ❤
Theatrical version also omitted the scene where Hicks and Ripley told each other their real first name, a sign that both have regard the other as a true friend.
Don't forget the bit where you find out that Burke sent the colonists to that ship right after that hearing with Ripley. That wasn't in the theatrical version.
I love these girls! Really have a great understanding of American moviemaking, and their reactions seem totally authentic. I think I would enjoy a visit to Vietnam if the general public is as lovely as these two.
fun fact: there were 3 Terminator series actors in this movie. Micheal Biehn and Bill Paxton were in Terminator 1, while the actress, Janette Goldstein, who played Vasquez was in Terminator 2. she played John Conner's adopted mother in T2 edit correction: there were 4 actors. i forgot Lance Henriksen who played Bishop. he was one of the cops at the police station that the Terminator tore up in T1
I think it is well beyond time to give Sigourney a Cecil Award or even a lifetime achievement award. Here is an actor that influences just about every actress that has ever wanted to a female who is real and confident. Meryl Streep once said I've played many roles but I've never played a character as cooler and real as Ripley. She wore her strength better than I could.
These troopers were specifically picked by the "company" for this mission because they were screw-ups, they went the best of the best. The officer was picked by Burke because of his inexperience and could be easily manipulated. There is an Alien book that explains why Ripley was lost in space for 57 years. The picture of Ripley's daughter is in fact a picture of Sigorney Weaver's mother. The child actress who played Newt never made another film and is now a teacher...she's still friends with Signorney Weaver.
Further expansion: Bill Paxton's character was the punk who said "Fuck you, asshole!" to the Terminator, Bishop was one of the two detectives trying to protect Sarah, and Hicks was Kyle Reese.
Chi, Hella, Al Matthews (the Sergeant in charge of the Marines) served in the Marine Corps during Vietnam, and was both the adviser and Apone in the movie. He and the other cast of Marines trained for a few weeks in a sort of "actor bootcamp" to prepare them for the role. He also let them customize their gear which is why you see all the writing on their armor, helmets, and weapons. Great sequel to the original Alien.
Nope, sorry. You came in second on this one. Another person (Critical_mtb) took first place. If you go to the newest comments tab and scroll all the way down to the first comment you'll see that he commented right before you did.
Fantastic reaction And once again I got my fair share of "goddamns"! Lol. It's a fantastic movie and I know other people may not say this but I highly recommend you do not watch the third or the fourth one. Everybody else on here knows why. Lol
More added scenes that were not in the original! Hey girls! Remember the Predator movie? What if I told you there is a movie where the Alien meets the Predator? It's called AVP!
If you think that was intense and exciting just wait till you see Alien 3, where Ripley and a group of bald prisoner guys spend most of the movie planning how to take down a single dog sized alien in some corridors.
@mr.battle20 Amen to that - anything beyond the first two movies feels like bad fanfic. It's so disappointing, especially the way they kill off Newt and everyone except Ripley to further milk the franchise. Never accepted it and never will.
I knew, when I recommended this movie to you after you watched the first movie you would really like it and I am glad you did. I told you it would have you on the edge of your seat watching it I did not lie.lol
Aliens is arguably the greatest sequel and sci-fi film ever made. It is the Citizen Kane of sci-fi / action / horror. In Ellen Ripley, Sigourney Weaver and James Cameron created one of the greatest, strongest, most iconic female roles in film history. Shes right up with Cameron's own Sarah Connor in T2 and Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With The Wind
Even if the aren’t intending it to be so, once in a while the xenomorphs do something good. No matter how much anyone hates or is terrified of them, EVERYONE cheers for the one that gets Burke. In this movie, you learn to love the automated sentry guns. In any of the games that allow you to play as a xenomorph, you learn to hate them. 😄
Excellent choice. Such a good action movie! Loved your reactions. Recommendations: Point Break (1991) Leon / The Professional (1994) The Truman Show (1998) Speed (1994) Twelve Monkeys (1995) The Fifth Element (1997) U-Turn (1997) Galaxy Quest (1999)
Y'all turned up the curses in this one. Still had me smiling, which I needed today, too sick. Hela's great at the dramatic, too entertaining. 42:00 "But it's ok, I care more about the human." That's good to know. Chi still trying to kill everyone. :D "Shoot him in the head!".

Wow, Newt is in Atwater?! I was stationed there at Castle AFB back in the 80's.
So happy for her she lives good life 🥹
If I recall, her students were mostly unaware of their teacher's prior career. Mostly
Burke (Paul Riser) took his mom to the premier and she cheered when his character was killed
"Ma! I'm sitting RIGHT HERE..."
That’s excellent! A real testament to how well he played his character.
It was always a dream of hers. His mother was pyschic and knew he was going to be in Mad About You. after she sensed that she wanted him dead.

@randomaccessfemale his character in Aliens survived but was torn in two but survived. He was in Aliens 3.
Wow! Hella is psychic. She already knew that Ripley would end up protecting the marines, not the other way around.
Or she's just Hella-smart.

True, but in fairness, the whole movie is largely a repeat of the previous film. Just leveled-up.
If you ladies like James Cameron's work you should try "True Lies."
Ripley didn't really though. That's not her skill. She's just an average woman.

Vasquez\Jenette Goldstein was in Terminator 2 as well.
I am what is commonly known in some circles as first.
YAY!
Nope, sorry. You came in second on this one. Another person (Critical_mtb) took first place. If you go to the newest comments tab and scroll all the way down to the first comment you'll see that he commented right before you did.
very close. next time.
@@leniobarcelos1770 You’re wrong. Better luck next time.

Lieutenant First Class Ellen Louise Ripley, the only person working for Weyland-Yutani with any common sense.
She's a badass.
Fantastic reaction And once again I got my fair share of "goddamns"! Lol. It's a fantastic movie and I know other people may not say this but I highly recommend you do not watch the third or the fourth one. Everybody else on here knows why. Lol
Fun fact the Indian knife game in that scene was real they didn’t tell bill pacston it was going to happen so the eyes wide and screaming is real lol
The less said about the rest of the series, the better. Just like the Terminator series, there are only two movies.
Why tell people the plot to a film? Are you completely devoid of braincells, or is it just a momentary lapse in sense?
@mr.battle20 Amen to that - anything beyond the first two movies feels like bad fanfic. It's so disappointing, especially the way they kill off Newt and everyone except Ripley to further milk the franchise. Never accepted it and never will.
16:49 Most accurate reaction ever!
Another movie I believe you will like, The Ghost And The Darkness. Its based on true events.
One of the best sequels of all time.
Lol
Bill Paxton (Hudson) is is my favorite /and in my opinion the best / character in this movie!!! R.I.P. Bill Paxton.😢
I knew, when I recommended this movie to you after you watched the first movie you would really like it and I am glad you did. I told you it would have you on the edge of your seat watching it I did not lie.lol
Great movie pick! Never miss Predator vs Alien.

Actually, Chi, Bishop isn't like Ash from the first movie. He's an upgraded model that won't harm a living person
@Hella, I love the part where you said, I’m exhausted also “ hahaha lots of stress in this movie 😅
Two pretty ladies and a scary sci-fi movie..... I'm in.
48:00 "Yeah I want them to be out and have beautiful life and everything".....sigh about that.
Best Sci Fi Action movie ever made!
4:30 The woman in the photo is Sigourney Weaver's mother, actress Elizabeth Inglis, playing the character of Amanda daughter of Ripley.
You two are brilliant, just brilliant. No sarcasm, I really think you two are some smart funny ladies👍👍
They are actually really funny. They make really good jokes but don't even stop to laugh or acknowledge it.
Excellent choice. Such a good action movie! Loved your reactions.

Movie Munchies You and your friends have become some of my favorite people on UA-cam, I love you girls so much🥰
Aw thank you 🥰☺️
@@Movie.Munchies You're welcome, dear one💙
Y'all turned up the curses in this one. Still had me smiling, which I needed today, too sick.
Hela's great at the dramatic, too entertaining.
42:00 "But it's ok, I care more about the human." That's good to know.
Chi still trying to kill everyone. :D "Shoot him in the head!".
I'm sorry, but your constant screaming and panic had me laughing and more entertained than the movie itself 😂😂
Well..
This is not a movie show.
People called it movie reaction for a reasons.
Great reaction ladies. You do it correctly having the film on big screen an yourselves in the small box. Most dont do that. Well done.
