Railroad Switching In Cincinnati With Trains Passing By At 4 Track Railroad Crossing & Sick Horn!

- Sick Horn At 2:41. Railroad Switching At Busy 4 Track Railroad Crossing In Cincinnati. CSX & Norfolk Southern trains passing a local train switching crew. This is an industrial railroad yard in Elmwood Place, Ohio. This is a section of Cincinnati and the second railroad crossing is in Carthage and the first time that I have filmed at this railroad crossing. These railroad crossings have been rebuilt and the hump reduced in the first crossing to prevent semi trucks from getting hung up. I do have a video that I made of that crossing shortly after it was rebuilt. One thing that is really cool about this video is that the engineer waved to me while the train was going over the crossing. I get comments all the time where people say that the train crews don't waive like they use to. I see them wave quite a bit actually.
Filmed in 1080p with 60fps on Monday, October 3, 2022AD
Thanks for watching! If you have time, please watch another video of mine to help keep my channel going. Every view helps support my channel. Viewing time helps pay for gas, motels, rental cars etc. I have a list of places that I plan on filming so watch another video of mine if you have the time.

Cool video. I know it was mentioned many times, but that first NS train horn was so odd sounding. Great catches here.
Thanks!
Had a roundhouse guy tell me that it was the valve that makes the horn function not opening all the way.
NS has a 4 track crossing out here in Hersey Pa , it's on the busy Harrisburg Line . That second train leader had an odd sounding horn . Good catches thanks for taking us a long .
Thanks for watching and commenting! I sure would like to return to Hersey. I love that area. My wife wants to stay at the Bridgeview Inn again also
@@JawTooth I don't blame you ,it's a beautiful area and the inn is a perfect spot for watching trains. Fall and spring are the best times in my opinion.
That Norfolk & Southern locomotive sure had a sick sounding horn! I've noticed when they run long hood forward (Backwards), the trains are super short, because they're only going a short distance.
True and thanks for watching !
Like seeing these towns (and the trains). Give the gang a scratch for me!
Will do and thanks for watching! Yesterday I was in a new town for me. I got a new street runner train in Elwood, Indiana
You captured some great action at that first railroad crossing. Your comment on the "Sick horn" at 2:41 correct. That is one of the weirdest sounding train horns that I have heard. It was interesting to see all the Tropicana refrigerator cars that the switch engine had in its train. The hump in the street at that first crossing looks like it could still hang up a semi-trailer. I hope that no one with a low-boy trailer tries to use that street to cross the tracks.
Thank you very much! I saw one semi go over it and drag the bottom. I wish I could have filmed that. There is a sign telling them not to use this crossing
@@JawToothsigns seem to have no meaning to people. There is a historic covered bridge in Long Grove, Illinois (a northwest suburb of Chicago, Illinois) that keeps getting damaged by box trucks and school buses. The latest instance was late last week. The news reports on the latest instance also report that the bridge has been hit and damaged something like forty-two times in the last two years. Some of the damage is just a dent to the top frame of the bridge. Other accidents require closing the bridge to make repairs.
noot nooooot 💀
That joint bar is called a compromise. Thanks for your time. Pete in South Carolina
Thanks for the info!
Nice to see a GP38-2 in action. Saw some UP & CR one's during our holiday in the mid 1990's from England, UK.
Thanks for watching !
That second train roiled pretty smooth. Most trains so far seemed to have at least a few cars with flat-spots on their wheels.
The horn sounded about funny at about 2:51, I’ve never heard a train horn sound like that
That was weird. Lol, thanks for watching !
Great video of the NS trains and the CSX trains you caught. That was cool to see a conductor being trained on that CSX local. And then to catch the last NS AUTORACK train that went through. We know you're use to seeing the big trains as we do too but any size train is better than nothing! Thanks again for sharing some awesome footage with us along with your PRICELESS time and effort JT! Cheers from Delmar, Delaware.
Thank you very much! Yesterday I went DPU less again. I was in northern Indiana getting street runners at Elwood
@@JawTooth aweto the STREET RUNNING trains and that's an odd day for you to not see a DPU! They make catching a train exciting especially hearing them working hard! Always look forward to seeing your videos JT bcuz you capture everything I like! Nice job as always my friend!
Those Tropicana cars are pretty old and toasty- kind of puts me off for wanting a glass of OJ! 🤪 More great trains. Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
Thanks for watching!
That NS horn sounds like someone stepping on a goose! 😄
Great to see you getting around the different types of crossings and switches. Also, I get to see some of your country towns along the way.
Cheers mate
Thank you very much!
Sure look forward to your videos and your train knowledge every day! Thank you!
Awesome, thank you!
Great video JT! Those short trains need some love too! LOL 👍👍
You got that right!
Cool trains even though they were short.
And kitty is always fun to watch, and a very good old doggie too. No chessie today!
That's was cool, talk about perfect timing, one train right after another, that second trains horn sounded a little off. 👍
Neat, didn't know they made a connector that allowed two sized rails to connect to each other, glad you showed that !! 👍
Tones of live action and you didn't have far to go... Wooooooooo 👍
Awesome Awesome VID !! 👍👍
The Seymour Avenue Crossing is the one I usually cross. I think Amtrak also uses that line.
Yes, Amtrak uses the line in the really early morning hours. I filmed them a week ago and still need to post it
Your videos are incredible and the music sounds like your electric guitar effects... inclusive much like the Fleming boats to the fjords of Alaska... can't hardly stop watching them as i do the same with your videos... great job you got yourself into Jaw Tooth... much credit goes to your wife and children and pets...
Wow, thanks!
I am liking the live action here. Just when you think it's quiet, wait there's more! I think that ailing horn was saying that. Then you're talking about the jointed rails and the local comes to life.
Cool, thanks
The second train had a strange horn sound lol. Norfie loves trash bin😍
Nice catches! I always enjoy seeing those emd geeps. That first NS train sounded like the horn was fouled or something. Great video!
Thanks!
Hello JT, nice to see a new location. Thanks for that 👊🏻
No problem 👍 Wait till you see the new location for tomorrow!
Awesome a 4 track crossing.
Hey J.T. they're called compromise joints. Light to heavy rail or vice- versa. Love your videos. Keep them coming.
Thanks for the info! I wrote that down so I can remember for the next time I film one
@@JawTooth AKA "comp bars".
Great video and keep up the good work God bless from GA stay safe
Thanks 👍
That NS unit had the most anemic horn and frankly the number of trailers it was hauling was less than the average priority Intermodal. Great to see the local with all those Tropicana cars and then the long Hood GE go by with another local. Those Autoracks staying busy as demand for autos remains High and one old green BN car was now so faded the lettering is not legible. Norfie is now the production assistant and also has its own mail bin while Chessie missed her cue and Sophie just rolls through life without a care. Big cold front in a few hours and there goes summer
Like it when the Engineers acknowledge you and wave or an extra blast of the horn. Another good video ... thanks.
Thanks 👍
Awesome horn on the second train. That local had a nice sounding horn as well.
It does!
haha the last intersection was a busy one for sure.
2:57-that’s a sickly sounding train horn. It should get fixed, yesterday
2:30 that is legitimately the scariest horn I've ever heard in my life OMG!
The second trains horn sounded wonky.
It needs more vitamins
It was kind of weird. Thanks for watching!
@@michaelhewitt258 haha
Jaw Tooth you were correct.about a new employee being trained by a senior employee. Yellow vests are worn by qualified employees and orange vests are worn by trainees. This is the practice of CSX and NS. I can't day if this applies to any other railroads.
The second train sounded like a sick puppy!
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo ! ✨✨✨✨👍Thank you very much! 🙏
Thanks for watching !
@@JawTooth 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Long hood forward is a great catch.
What an odd sounding horn on the stacker, almost sounded like agoose being strangled. Nice compromise joint. Great action through out, thanks!
Many thanks! I hope I can remember the term compromise joint. Thanks for the info
A really nice group of catches. All types of different things going on.
A great view of a day in the life of a railroad
Thank you very much!
May not be a long train but got great 👍 trains 👌 today that first Norfolk southern was a different horn loved it 😀 👍 nice
Thanks 👍
Good morning. What a weird horn on the 2nd train.
Morning!
Thanks again sir. The cat in the trash can, I had to laugh.
Very welcome
Lots of action in this one. The juice train is very cool.
Cool switching action JT, .love seeing that. That was a pretty foul sounding horn one that first NS train, wow. What is it about pets and waste baskets, Norfie really seems to like that one. Thanks for sharing JT, keep it up.👍🏼
Thanks!
@@JawTooth your welcome JT.👍🏼
We saw more at 'Semour'. Great vid. Loved the angle at the first crossing.
Thanks 👍
Thats was a nice new spot 4 tracks crossing lots of action thanks
Been watching your videos for a couple months now and I've enjoyed everyone of them but you know what I've never seen a train switch from one track to another. But anyway thank you for taking the time to share the videos with us.
Thank you very much! I have a couple videos somewhere showing that but I will film one doing that. That is a good idea
I know the feeling about hoping for a longer train. Waited two and a half hours a few weeks ago only to catch a CSX local with two cars. Happy to get it on film especially since he was running long hood forward.
I believe the odd sounding horn on the 2nd train is because one or two of the trumpets are out.
Another great video. That rail join is like a section on my MR layout where I had to join code 83 to code 100 track lol.
That's cool!
Wow! Crazy horn! Lots of action in this one! Happy railfanning!
Thanks for watching
You hit the jackpot with those crossings ! that horn made me laugh, and I love your pets
Thanks so much!!
Nice looking neighborhood. 12:43
Very nice catches! That horn on the first NS didn't sound too good. Maybe it's dying. I like to watch trains switching and also maintenance. Have a nice day
I love seeing the different areas, very cool, thanks
More to come! 8am today I post from Elwood, Indiana a couple street runners
That first Norfolk Southern train sounded like a steam engine.
Good morning JT very cool switching and short trainsthank you
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video Jawtooth! Cool crossing! That 2nd train sure had a sick horn! Every time I see a train running long hood forward like that first one, it takes me back to seeing the old Southern trains in Danville Ky.! Thanks for sharing!
Same here! I use to live in Lexington, Ky with a view of the NS mainline way back in 83
@@JawTooth 👍
It sounded sick
Thanks for watching !
CSX has a new CEO, and he says that the abysmal service to their customers is priority numero uno regarding improvement. Improving employee relations is also at the top of his list. They probably should think about using more than one spike per plate to hold the rail in place. Europe and Japan use different spikes, but their rail is securely 'spiked' down. GP 38-2 started life as Penn Central 8074 and then Conrail 8067.
Europe tends to use Pandrol clips. They're much easier to automate than traditional spikes, so I guess they must have some disadvantage that's meant they're not widely used in the US. Maybe they're better suited to lighter trains or their advantages only show at higher speeds.
Cool 😎 👍
You are the best in the business!👌
Wow, thanks!
Hello Jaw Tooth awesome catch, what the wagons carrying the iscription👍🇺🇸😊👋😎
Greetings from Italy Spilimbergo PN Pordenone Friuli Venice Julia 😊😃🇮🇹🤗☀️
Thank you very much!
Nice hand wave to you, Jaw Tooth 😁🙏
Yes, thank you
Cat just loves you ❤....that what cats do....enjoy sir thx
Yes, thanks
Second train with tandem set of locomotives had dissimilar horns, notice the change of tone.
Great weather at Elwood, 👌👍🌎🗽 PS - corner of McGregor Avenue and Township Highway 🛣
Thanks for watching
Any change in tone is the Doppler effect. Only the lead locomotive's horn sounds.
Great video.👍Odd sounding horn on that second train 😁
Thank you very much!
Awesome Jaw Tooth and the trains too 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😃😎 and the side show is awesome too great job Jaw Tooth anyway awesome video JT ❤
Thanks 👍
Great video
Lots of action
Your 🐈 found a fort
Thanks 👍
The horn of the 4153 sounds funny...
Love this video. Always enjoy watching locals working. Really enjoyed the multi part on the C&E.
Thanks 👍
Really cool stuff here. Thanks.
Glad you liked it!
That’s a cool video Jaw Tooth. Looks like a busy area. The second train that came through the crossing the horn sound a bit off lol. Pretty cool all the same. Stay safe out there & another like as always from this viewer 👍
Thanks 👍
I liked the horn on that 2nd train, it sounded like the really old train horns 😃
Great video buddy.
Thanks 👍
And jaw tooth and that's cool short longer trains ❤😊
And jaw tooth that's cool rail road crossing location for longer train ❤😊

Mr. JT
Wonderful live action as always in this video whew. Very interesting with 4 tracks and how it all works thank you for all the information and how it all works...
Thanks again!
Great catches Son but the horn on that 2nd NS train sounded worse than the horn I had on my bicycle when I was a kid 😂😅🤣 Thx for posting ...
Sorry to hear that. Lol, you should put baseball cards in the spokes like we did
@@JawTooth I did as well ... Fun Jawin' with you Son
Sophie says "I'm never too old for belly rubs. So put down that camera and give me one!!!!"😄
Another great video thanks jaw tooth
Glad you enjoyed it
Wait, we're in the 21st century!? They sure do got short trains here.
Awesome video but wait there’s more 👍🇺🇸😎🚂
Thanks for watching !
hey jawtooth after today I might not have a chance to watch for a few days going to men's retreat with my church just wanted to tell so you wouldn't think that I had quit watching
Okay, thanks for letting my know and have a great time!
I will
The horn on NS 4153 sounds like a steam locomotive whistle, very unusual
Super cool horn on NS
A Gevo hood forward is interesting.
That "sick horn" made me laugh :D
Job #1: Find a synonym for "cool" and retire that word.
Job #2: New theme music. Likewise beaten to death.
Job #3: Take a bow! Great work, this is.
Great video thanks for sharing JawTooth 🚂
Thanks for watching!
Norfie has got to be near to you JT, thats why shes always at your PC 😊
I thought that was you bellowing along with that horn!
That Norfolk Southern Loco had a strange sounding horn.
