HOW TO UNCLOG A COFFEE MAKER

  • How to Unclog a Coffee Maker Using CLR. At this stage, do not use Vinegar as it could really clog your coffee maker with sediment and render it unusable. After cleaning once you notice the coffee maker running slow, you can even reuse the CLR water mixture over and over again by running the mixture thru the brew cycle. Preventing your coffee maker from ever getting to this stage.

There are specific coffee maker decalcification removal products you can buy like “Dip-it” or “Brew-Rite.” This was a great idea and led me to research this more and found these products that are probably safer for everyone to use in their coffee maker.

My coffee maker took 35 minutes to make 3 cups. I thought I’d give this a try. WHA LA! I have a new coffee maker! I followed the directions to a T and this absolutely works! Thank you!

This worked for me like a CHARM. My old 4 cup Mr. Coffee developed "prostate problems" today. I tried vinegar - - waste of time, the vinegar evaporated rather than brewed, stunk up the house something AWEFUL and didn't fix anything. I got out my bottle of CLR, noticed that the label actually says you can use it on some coffee makers, and with one treatment as described in your video the brew cycle is short and sweet again. THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS! I was going to trash it and buy another. No need to now, and I saved a little landfill space to boot!

dilute the clr with lots of water! I tried straight clr in mine turned it on and the smell was hideous! it did unclog it but left a permanent odor even after running lot's of water and coffee thru it. cmaker stinks and anything out of it stinks! only use this as a last resort. not a great idea.

Unfortunately I was unable to smell ANYTHING by the time I ran CLR through my coffeemaker, as I had run vinegar through it first, and the entire house smelled so bad that my loving wife made a comment or six. I was truly ready to trash the coffeemaker since new, they are only $20, but the CLR restored performance to "like new." I ran maybe ten pots of clear water through it after the various mixtures of CLR, so I was lucky, I don't have any residual odors or flavors. Sorry you had such bad luck with yours! :(

It has worked on my KRUPS EC322 ThermoBrew 14-cup Programmable Coffee Maker.
It works like it did when it was new. Thanks, Tim

I turned my coffeemaker upside down and banged it. I haven't tried this CLR method yet. The turning upside down and banging it method worked 2x, but last time I tried, no go. Maybe it's what they used to call "built-in obsolescence" in cars because my husband usually gets pissed off and buys another $29.99 coffeemaker again instead of watching me boil water on the stove and pour it into the coffee and use the "on" button as a simple coffee pot warmer.

Its not planned obsolescence. You just have to perform maintanence of your stuff. Holy crap people are so darn LAZY.
"Throw it away. Its easier than cleaning it". 🙄

I used almost a full bottle of CLR...it didn't work. My husband had to take the krups coffeemaker apart. The tube that draws out the water had coffee grounds stuck in it. Once we unclogged it, it was working again, of course.

Short of eliminating the need for de-scaling by using distilled or R.O. water in your appliances, using vinegar has been the accepted way for decades to de-scale any device or appliance that has had tap water used in it. I can't imagine how white vinegar could cause sediment in anything. I can definitely see where apple cider vinegar would cause a problem, but I would also assume that people would already know better than to use that.

Why not use vinegar? What if you don't rinse all the CLR?

I used vinegar instead of CLR and so far it seems to have unclogged my coffee machine just fine (fingers crossed)!

People, if you have to use CLR to fix your coffee maker, it might be time for a new coffee maker.

No not at all!!! It all has to do with the water you run through it. New coffee makers might last a month and this happens compared to someone that has a water softener might have a coffee maker for years and this won't happen. So why replace something if it can be fixed?!?!

No, it just means you have hard water, and need to clean it more often.

@@timrindels4924 why the hell would you use dish soap to unclog a coffee maker? It won't do anything to mineral buildup. All you need to do is run vinegar through it. It's insane that you're telling people to run clr through their coffee maker

You should NEVER be using cleaners like CLR. You should be using food safe cleaners. You can't guarantee that the CLR is flushed through entirely.
