As the older half sister in a situation similar to this, where we grew up separately with our respective mothers, seeing that these sisters were able to become close as adults means a lot. I'm happy they had that time together.
Your right no one will ever replace Carrie as the Princess. When you think of all the other female leads in the Star Wars saga can you remember all their names? Carrie delivered such a presence on screen and in real life it's not a surprise that she impacted thousands.
This just tears you to shreds. I used to see Joely Fisher on interviews in the 1990s and she had such an energetic vibe about her same as her big sister Carrie. I can only imagine what type of conversations they used to have and how she may have let them know how she really felt about things going on in the world and I bet they used to have conversations about Gary her dog as well. Wouldn't it have been nice to see Carrie get much older and have Gary with her doing a stand up act? That would have been such a great thing to see. Well i know they are both now at eternal rest and peace.
I remember when the 2 fisher sister found out that Carrie WAS their sister--- -- they were shocked-- Princess Lei is our sister- they were kept apart all these years.. but they soon fixed that-- and made sure they met their sister.. and been close ever since.... --OH HOLLYWOOD>>>>>
HEARTBOY--- if U listen -- they say they found out she was their sister during the time she was Princes Leia .. --NOT before then---- ((probably Debbie did not speak to Connie and vice versa-- and kept the kids apart))--shame as it was-- but listen to the tape again..
In the article Joely wrote for the Hollywood Reporter, she said that Debbie moved next door to them in Malibu when Todd and Carrie were kids. Of course by the time Star Wars came out maybe they had lost touch with each other.
Joely has changed a lot. She sounds similar to Carrie. I caught the comment about them all dealing with their fragile mothers. Connie Stevens is 78 now.....where do the years go?I am glad Billie has other family members. I hope she is close to her cousins too.
I remember Tricia saying she hadn't even thought about having an older half-sister until she saw "Star Wars," and there was Carrie, mouthing off to everyone and firing a blaster like a pro. What we're not supposed to remember is that George Lucas broke ground when he created Princess Leia. Up until then, female characters in sci fi/action movies were largely window dressing. He created a tough, smart heroine who rescued her rescuers and stood brave before the bad guys. Ripley in the "Alien" franchise was created, or should I say reimagined, because of "Star Wars." Ripley was originally supposed to be a male character, but when the original "Star Wars" movie came out and the people behind "Alien" saw that audiences would accept a strong, mouthy, weapon-toting female protagonist in a sci-fi/action movie, they changed the character of Ripley to a woman.
For those criticizing these two ladies... You don't know them and their stories in life and what they've faced emotionally, You can't know what they experienced in the days leading up to this interview, I don't know how you can have the gaul to do it, and I hope you never have to overhear others criticizing you when you lose someone, for being too emotional, not sad enough for long enough, not letting others see your sadness, being too constantly weepy. Whatever.
I have to say that Debbie, Carrie, Connie, Tricia and Joely were and are very elegant women.Always ladies, and always classy. My best to you, Connie and condolences to each of you, and Todd and Billie.
Billie will never be left out. With Aunts Joely & Tricia. As well as Uncle Todd. All the Fisher.s Family grow even closer with Carrie, Debbie, & Eddie. Watching closely as a family should be.
I am not a huge movie buff, I have a relatively boring profession in finance, but the loss of Carrie and Debbie stunned me. Of course I saw Star Wars, of course I was aware of the mega-talent that Reynolds was/is, (she was before my time, I didn't see Singing in the Rain until I was in college and took an "American Film" class as an elective) but their loss(es) stunned me. We won't see the level of talent, integrity and honesty/hard work again. These women were classy, elegant, and brutally honest, something all people should strive toward. They were both incredibly kind people. To say that Debbie followed Carrie into the void is true, it's the kind of ending that alternately rips your heart out and gives you hope. Good Night, lovely ladies Wherever you are, I hope you are at peace.
Debbie even semi-prophesied her own death in her autobiography; she said that she didn't think she could survive the death of her daughter, which was something she'd had to face up to because of Carrie's mental issues and so forth. When I heard Carrie had died, I thought of her mom, not figuratively, "This will kill her."
Yeah, I thought the same thing when i heard Carrie had a cardiac incident, I was thinking about her mom and how devastated she must be. Then when she died I figured Debbie would be gone within a month, never dreamed she would die the next day, I am still stunned by that.
When Carrie was in the hospital in Dec, I watched the Oprah interview with the two of them. I automatically though after watching that that if Carrie ended up dying, Debbie wouldn't last much longer afterwards. I estimated within a month, it turned out to be a day. Amazing and tragic and strange all at the same time.
I know Billie said she was going to exclude Trisha and Joely from her mother's ceremony on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and from what I can tell, she did just leave them out. So sad, since in the part I saw she did include Mark Hamill as her "Star Wars uncle".
I try never to judge, especially when people are in grief, but they are just so....chipper. The tone doesn't feel right for just losing someone but that's jut me. RIP, Carrie. What an amazing woman.
Think about who they are related to--Carrie freakin' Fisher, an upbeat woman who was chipper even in the worst moments. That's part of why Carrie was so charming, so it's nice to see that her sisters (like her mom) have the same life-affirming chipperness.
They aren't exactly chipper. They just deal with grief different then others. Also they tried to show in a brace face for the crowd because they were both close to cry in a lot of moments. Not to mention they were talking about their FUN moments with her. P.S in the new Star Wars movie, they said, "In memory of princess Carrie Fisher" and I totally balled my eyes out the second time. (The first time was when she came on set because I love her)
Joely did not sound like the Carrie of the last few years, Carrie's voice was deep and raspy due to cigarettes and illegal drugs and booze. She sounded terrible.
I never knew Carrie Fisher had a brother, two half-sisters, an ex-husband and a daughter. I always thought Carrie was an only child who ended up becoming a spinster; Todd was the grandson of Fisher-Price co-founder Herman Fisher (no relation); Joely took her name from Carrie and Billy Joel as a stage name; and Tricia Lee's married name being Fisher (again, no relation) and having a different maiden name.
Trolls have to comment due to their pathetic existence. Stop projecting your evil nature to these two women. They were close. ABC does not pay for this interview. Also, their mother Connie Stevens made millions with her business deals and since these two are her only children, they don't need to capitalize on their half-sisters death for money. They also make their own money. They want to talk about their sister and there is nothing wrong with that. I am sure ABC approached them for the interview.
Go look at The Jonathan Ross Show 2016 -interview with Carrie. Starting around 9:09 Ross is badgering her about appearing in the next SW film. Look at her face & the guy next to her after she says-If they don't kill me. She called her own death. Watch it in slow motion. She starts crying & the guy next to her hugs her & says it's allright. Let me know what you think!.
As a person with family who is and was in show business (in the PH. Not in America though) the thing my relatives told me is that interviewers want to always make you cry. They'll try to milk you out and make you cry for more publicity and stories. I think they're genuinely sad about Carrie passing, but like Todd, most probably they shouldn't cry because that's what the media wants. (Also in Todd's case, if you see his interview for 20/20, some of the interviewer's questions were borderline inappropriate because she wants to make him cry on TV)
Here is an interview from 1987 where a young Trisha Fisher says she first saw Carrie on screen in Star Wars and did NOT know her . Skip to 2:00 ua-cam.com/video/HVICADnnZJU/v-deo.html
Elise lee Sullivan - I could not cry for 20 years when I lost my mother. I wanted to cry, I just could not. It was when my granddaughter asked me what it was like to lose your mom, 20 years later that I could finally cry. It was not a good time to do that, but it was the first time I could even cry. I was in denial and shock for that whole time. You have to idea how they feel or the grief they feel. We just cannot judge others in a situation like this.
Elise lee Sullivan I don't agree,Joely was definitely trying holding back her tears especially at the end. When my sister died at 29 the outside world didn't see my tears, but I shed more tears then I though was possible.
I am soon to be 74. One of the events I recall from my teenage years was Connie Stevens' big break being in "Rockabye Baby" with Jerry Lewis. Connie was new to me, and I seem to recall that she got the part b/c Debbie was pregnant (of course, by EF). Isn't this an irony? (If I am correct?)
You should watch them bickering almost in an autobiographical way about their late mother's ring on Fox's 9--1-1. I know Joely from Ellen and other things. More then Tricia Leigh who I kind of remember being in a sexploitation 80s movie when I was a kid called Pretty Smart with Patricia Arquette and not much else. In the vein of Where The Boys Are, Hardbodies, etc. The type of movie you'd never see made again in these PC times or even shown late night on Premium cable anymore. Defenitley not released into theatres. The plot involved a bunch of rich teenage girls going to private school in Greece. Lots of smoking, drinking, drugs, bed hopping. That was probably just behind the scenes, lol, the 80s. But seeing her in this interview I think I've seen her play mother's and stuff like that. Billie Lourd turned out to be some surprise. She has her mother's talent and its been nice seeing her without those damn ear muffs lately, lol!
They did the interview because ABC asked them to, and a little publicity never hurts. I hadn't heard of either sister in years, and Joely has certainly gotten all kind of attention since this happened.

Disney needs to cast some Carrie's sibling to finish Star Wars IX, and if the audience agree, many spin-off between SW6 & SW7. That's Darwin's natural selection laws from Hollywood.
R.I.P our beloved and Beautiful princess no one will ever be able to replace or princess
My heart is heavy for Billie. Tough girl.
Debbie died cause of a broken heart..... Carrie needed her mom with her.... fly away angels 😭❤
Princess Leia's mother really did end up dying from a broken heart. :(
Yes sadly
As the older half sister in a situation similar to this, where we grew up separately with our respective mothers, seeing that these sisters were able to become close as adults means a lot. I'm happy they had that time together.
This video really got to me. Wow. Thank you so much for interviewing them and sharing this, and for the sisters for being so open and loving.
OMG, Joely sounds just like Carrie.
beyondthetech yeah that scared me. Her voice is identical
Was just gonna say the same thing. Almost literally the same voice.
They look like Carrie too.
Joely sure does-- and that is incredible-- (( I thought the exact same thing)) --
omg ikr!
God they sound like her!!
Bonnie Chiaccio True I think Joely looks more like her they could use her voice for ep 9
Damn...you’re right.
Especially Joely. That’s crazy.
Bonnie Chiaccio so true
RIP Carrie, you gave so much fun and laughter and creative writings about your life. You will be dearly remembered and missed

In the article Joely wrote for the Hollywood Reporter, she said that Debbie moved next door to them in Malibu when Todd and Carrie were kids. Of course by the time Star Wars came out maybe they had lost touch with each other.
You misunderstood what they said.
No . There’s an interview with Tricia when she was young and she saw Carrie Fischer on screen and said wow that’s my sister. Didn’t know her
All three Fisher sisters were/are talented, bright women.
Joely has changed a lot. She sounds similar to Carrie. I caught the comment about them all dealing with their fragile mothers. Connie Stevens is 78 now.....where do the years go?I am glad Billie has other family members. I hope she is close to her cousins too.

These are her half-siblings right?
Yes they had the same father
THE NINJACAT same dads different Moms.
Those sisters finished each other's sentences. Wonderful women.

my heart breaks for this family R.I.P CARRIE AND DEBBIE
Seeing Joely choke up talking about her sister, Carrie, is heartbreaking. :’(
Joely has Carrie's voice.
I have to say that Debbie, Carrie, Connie, Tricia and Joely were and are very elegant women.Always ladies, and always classy. My best to you, Connie and condolences to each of you, and Todd and Billie.

RIP Debbie and Carrie
2016 has certainly stole many amazingly , beautiful and talented people- ❤❤🙏🙏✌️✌️
you know I think Carrie her brother and her sisters all look like their dad! Even if he kind of wasn't around for any of them that much!
I try never to judge, especially when people are in grief, but they are just so....chipper. The tone doesn't feel right for just losing someone but that's jut me. RIP, Carrie. What an amazing woman.
Patty Dixon step sisters.. not as close
They are half sisters, they have the same father, Eddie Fisher.
Iris Fryer oh right

Wow! Amazing insight! Amazing love!
So heartbreaking... :-(
I know joely and she always spoke highly of carrie... may she rip
Joely sounds exactly like Carrie!!
Joely did not sound like the Carrie of the last few years, Carrie's voice was deep and raspy due to cigarettes and illegal drugs and booze. She sounded terrible.
R.I.P Carrie Fisher. The Death of a Star.
Sister? Wow, who knew? Great family , highly creative. Beautiful girls.
I lost my big sister the month before Carrie died. I also *knew* that Debbie wouldn't survive if Carrie died.
I never knew Carrie Fisher had a brother, two half-sisters, an ex-husband and a daughter. Miss you Carrie.
Yeah, I can kinda see why Billie Lourd was pissed.
Go look at The Jonathan Ross Show 2016 -interview with Carrie. Starting

Oh my god no way I never knew Joely Fisher was her sister
I remember when Carrie guest starred on 'Ellen' years ago. I had no idea at the time she and Joely were sisters.
Carrie was "...secretly soft...."....and wickedly funny. Sweet Souls went together.
RIP

I dont get it ... news reports that carrie stopped breathing 15 mins b4 plane landed and then sisters talking to her at her hospital bedside????
She was unconscious
So Debbie wasn't their mum?
Connie Stevens is their mom.
Is That Tricia Fisher who was Originally Portrayed Trini Crystal Yellow Ranger/Biorhythm Yellow in Bioman 1986 pilot
They should've interviewed Todd
I guess u missed Todd on Good morning america and 20/20 talking about Debbie and Carrie.
joely actually looks like her and sounds a lot like her
Not really Joely is gorgeous and Carrie had some kind of bizarre plastic surgery that made her look terrible.
they don't seem too grief strichen to me....
Not everyone turns into a blubbering mess when a family member dies.
First off, it's STRICKEN. Second, just because they aren't sobbing during the interview doesn't mean that they aren't hurting.
Elise lee Sullivan - I could not cry for 20 years when I lost my mother. I wanted to cry, I just could not. Elise lee Sullivan Yes you can . You can tell Joely was trying to hold back the tears . I heard it in her voice . She was struggling. for control
Elise lee Sullivan I don't agree,Joely was definitely trying holding back her tears especially at the end.
When my sister died at 29 the outside world didn't see my tears, but I shed more tears then I though was possible.
sad...
thought she only had a brother
Jason Sutton Carrie & Todd share same father as Joely & Tricia - they are all Eddie Fisher's kids but different mothers
Joley looks and sounds like Carrie
Live a good life princess Carrie Fisher. We love you and will always remember you!
Half-sisters...
Joely sounds like Carrie
She had sisters?!?!?
What about Todd? He lost his sister and mother.
How could u miss him, he was already all over the TV talking about his mother's last moments.
Joely could definitely be able to take up the voice acting role that Carrie had on Family Guy.
I don't think Joely's voice sounds like she gargles with glass.
Iris Fryer Huh?
Carrie's voice sounded like she had a cig addiction for 40 years, Joely's voice sounds nothing like her.
Iris Fryer Oh well.... debatable
Joely looks and sounds a lot like Carrie.
I wonder if they are close to Todd their half brother
Haha @ Joely face when Trisha interrupts her at @1:33
they make me think of the evil step sisters from cinderella, carrie being cinderella
I read an article from 2004 the other day where Carrie said she had gotten close to Joely and Tricia.
She has her mother's talent and its been nice seeing her without those damn ear muffs lately, lol!
Is it me or does Joely sound like Carrie?
No, it's just you.
The little big sister.
It's a little weird they seem so chipper but everyone greivs differently even though they weren't close thats still weird
Why would anyone want to do this interview, just a few days after mom and daughter pass away? No respect for the dead
Didn't anyone know if she had heart problems? 😭
One of the most common serious physical effects of long term substance use is heart disease and heart failure.
Lisa Feisthome
cocaine= heart damage. bipolar meds cause massive weight gain and increased risk of diabetes and heart disease
Mary Hendron
Additionally, regular or high alcoholic beverage use can hurt your heart and lead to diseases of the heart muscle, called cardiomyopathy.
Lisa Feisthome not to mention Carrie was a heavy smoker and said on Ellen about a month before she died that she drank 10-12 cokes a day.
northwoodlandhills
they seem fake and taking advantage
NEELAM--- I 2ND THAT...
Neelam I agree with you. They don't seem fake. They really miss her.
rest in peace..
I just don't understand why a sibling would do an interview after they died....... so gross
sibais don't be famous then so your siblings don't have to be "gross"
They did the interview because ABC asked them to, and a little publicity never hurts. I hadn't heard of either sister in years, and Joely has certainly gotten all kind of attention since this happened.
the hbo docu
They don’t look like Connie!
Oh man,I am glad there were sisters as well.Propaganda Magazines in Germany always told us she was having one brother only.I am glad that her daughter has aunts - my god !!!!!Let´s fuck BRAVO !
The sista favor one another More than they do ANY one of they parents.
it that hers 2 hafe sisters then ????
Yes they had the same father
Karissa Conway ohhhh right so there mum 4 kids then I didt know that though she had her and son
No debbie reynolds had todd and carrie while connie stevens had joley and tricia leigh. Eddie fisher is the father of all 4 children
I... never knew the woman from Til Death was Carrie Fisher's sister... lul
They hardly shed any tears when mentioning Carrie. In Asian culture, people will cried like hell once they talk about their departed love ones.
oh come on
Hope Billie doesn't affiliate herself with these attention getters. They obviously just want attention.
Do u include Todd in that also? He was all over TV spilling his mother's last moments.
STOP ACTING LIKE YOU ONLY MISS HER JIST BECAUSE OF STAR WARS
Me! Me! Me!
None of these women look like their mothers. Too bad.
"Tricialy Fisher" ???
beingsshepherd Tricia Lee Fisher
1st view, comment, and like.

Don't click on the video, moron. Go to the video of the lives lost at the airport, how hard is that??
Iris Fryer your too late
