- I’m coming up on a milestone birthday next year and I have a big plan for myself: I intend to build a better brain and a better body! Its a tall order but i know I can do it if I create a map and a plan to help me get to my destination. I’m re-reading “Atomic Habits” by James Clear and “Becoming Supernatural” by Dr Joe Dispenza. James
Clear introduces the idea of “the aggregation of marginal changes” over time as a way to more easily incorporate significant lasting change. Baby steps for the win! Dr Joe is all about the brain, brain science and how using the vehicle of meditation, you can learn how to actually do it! The other piece is to be as compassionate and mind to myself while making these changes and my life. I’m the designer and so it’s on my to create something beautiful and meaningful. Great video facts about life, I'm still trying to figure out how to get where I want to be at. You can still think positively and not be a drug or alcohol addict and not be at your end goal but hopefully, something good is coming along and waiting for me. I pray to God and believe in myself.

Sorry I missed this. I hear you on the second half of the life concerns and hopes - my dad used to say, "If youth knew and age could." There's a poignancy that by the time you get the focus, drive and skill set to act the clock is ticking on your ability to do so. Then again, without that impetus of mortality perhaps we'd just fritter away the days. You're also right that incremental steps are lasting ones. There's a French proverb "ce n'est que le premier pas qui coûte" - it is only the first step that costs. Once you have that sunk cost of the initial action the next ones are easier. It's essential to remember that when it comes time to let go of (often perfectly valid) grievances that are blocking you from attaining your goals, like you mention at 27:00. It isn't fair, at all, but it is necessary.
No matter what those are cute cats; treasure them! We just lost our seventeen year old mackerel tabby and I'm not over it.
