Love that we have a Hate Robert Moses Cinematic Universe across multiple video essay channels. So nice! I'm sure he's looking up at us hating every second of it.
I'm so happy to know this hidden gem of a channel. It's works like yours that make the age of the internet worth living. Fron France, a lot of thanks !
im only about a half hour in but I felt i needed to comment before I forgot: absolutely blown away by the dedication to the theme here ! the switch to the technicolor 50s made me gasp
I'm just always so floored by how incredibly well researched, thoughtful, and well made your videos always are. The set decoration, lighting, and all of the tv and film effects this time are just so perfect! And with so much more beauty in the text of what you've written. Just gorgeous!
Your ending to this video, which I love btw, reminds me a lot of the ending of Dr.Fatimas video on aliens. If you haven't seen it, I really recommend it.
This is fantastic! I've gotta call out what a fantastic choice it is around 20 minutes in to refer to the US and Russia as "proprietors" of the atom bomb instead of "wielders" - lovely bit of wordplay.
I originally watched your Orpheus and Eurydice video, and glad I came back for this one! This is such an excellent, informative video, and everything a video essay should be. Thank you!
I hadn't realized until the "sponsor" section how small this channel is. The production value on these are _really_ good, and the discussions are really good, i was positive this channel was way larger. I literally had to triple check the subscribe count
I am so glad the algorithm placed this video into my front page. This video was a breath of fresh air in a seemingly endless haze of late-stage-capitalism noxious fumes. I appreciate the plethora of well researched ideas and perspectives from other cultures. It is not often that I get to hear these less-heard voices, and I appreciate your work in collecting, researching, and sharing them.
Magnificent video José, your drops always slap and help get me through the monotony of my work days and I appreciate you. Congrats on your current success and I hope that ball just keeps rolling!
Incredible video! I can’t even imagine how much time this must have taken to create. I usually listen to videos like this while walking, but I’m glad I sat down to watch this one. Outstanding work, José!
When it comes to city living, I personally also don't understand why anyone would choose to _live_ in a city. Unfortunately, amenities and most of all opportunity is more or less only found in cities and since basically no country makes it easy to get from the country side into the city, one is left with little to do but to move into the city regardless of preference. Anyway, if cities were less cramped, more affordable and not as car heavy (noisy, smelly), I might not mind having to move as much but as is, no city Ive been in has really been giving anything but that.
Hello Valley resident and Metro user here reporting from the future. Sad to report the dream of an on time 183 is dead. It was killed as a route just three months after this video released. Trying to ride Metro from the Southeast Valley into Burbank/Glendale is even worse than before 🙃
I dont think the world ends, Humanity is a cockroach and always finds a way, whats a stake is make it less bad really, which is possible and worth persuing. especially because dooming does nothing, alarmist, ok, but hope must survive to do anything really.
This feels, and i understand this might sound weird at first lol, like the companion piece to Dr Fatima's video on aliens ("What astrophysicists think about aliens")
You had me with EPCOT and (the death of) FUTURISM … but add in (3m30s) Queer Filmmaker and i think I’m gonna have to stick around beyond the preview and into the feature presentation!! Xo
I just found your channel through another video and subscribed, first time ever for a channel of video essays 😅 I'm watching this now and I'm wondering if you'll mention Expo 58 by Jonathan Coe!

"Anti-communism" was always anti-union, anti-labor
I'm so happy to know this hidden gem of a channel. It's works like yours that make the age of the internet worth living. Fron France, a lot of thanks !
Merci beaucoup! What a sweet comment
Contrapoints, PhilosophyTube, and now JML are my top video essay channels. You don't get them often, but when you do it's an EVENT.
An honor to be in this company! Thank you so much!
I'm so excited for this. Thank you for including me!
Thank YOU for participating!

I'm glad it worked ☺️
In before José becomes a star of stage and screen
Just know my heart will always belong to you, not the public

You are such a motor for me to create in general, I hope you know that!
Almost no one could have predicted how much social media has manipulated public opinion with the illusion of engagement.
That last section was really quite powerful. I'm glad you added it!
6:56 that’s my union’s art on the left. Big up the One Big Union, the IWW!
0:49 Belle Epoque Retrofuturism is my favorite back when gaslight meant gaslight. So excited for this video!
"When gaslight meant gaslight" I love that

Great video as always! Sending love from Brazil
Your ending to this video, which I love btw, reminds me a lot of the ending of Dr.Fatimas video on aliens. If you haven't seen it, I really recommend it.
I have not! I’ll check it out!
This is fantastic! I've gotta call out what a fantastic choice it is around 20 minutes in to refer to the US and Russia as "proprietors" of the atom bomb instead of "wielders" - lovely bit of wordplay.
Thank you! I love it when people point out little details they liked 🥺
@@JoseMariaLuna I know exactly how difficult it is to make something marginally as good as this, so its a very very sincere complement!
The last section was really powerful and sat with me. Fantastic work as always.
I’m so glad! Thank you!
I originally watched your Orpheus and Eurydice video, and glad I came back for this one! This is such an excellent, informative video, and everything a video essay should be. Thank you!
Thank you! I'm so glad you liked it!
i'm so glad to have found this channel! the research, presentation, script, editing- everything is just immaculate. thanks for putting these vids out!
Wow, thank you so much!
This was such a interesting video, its cool to see someone talk about retro futurism before the 2000s. Congrats on the 10k!!🎉
Wow so glad I found this video. Just finished and I’m at a loss for words a bit. Thank you for all the work you put into this.
Thank you for watching!

The artistry in this video simply bleeds through the screen. Fantastic work, and I'm so excited to watch where you go next!
Thanks a lot! You're very sweet!

I just started but I love the classic production style and you’re a great host!
I really appreciate this!
We are so back 😤

Thank you! Let's build life!
Yay new video
This was the best video so far! ❤❤❤

I want the 183 to know it was me (Also, is the 501 still a thing?)
@@JoseMariaLuna Yeah, no plans for that route to be cut afaik, at least not until the NoHo-Pasadena BRT is built.
Wake up a new Jose video just dropped! 🎉🎉🎉

My husband just shouted from the next room over "I freaking loved that hydroponic farm!!! I got to eat a hydroponic potato!!" 😅
HYDROPONIC FARM STANS RISE!

16:05 From what I know the reaction of the public to broadcast of HG Well's war of the world was extremely exaggerated by the newspapers

I feel like we had a lot of this around the turn of the millenium and the mainstream rise of the internet. Turns out it wasn't as great as we thought.
Estoy súper temprano en el vídeo y no sé si lo vas a mencionar, pero me recordó a los cortos de Tex Avery que satirizaban esta idea de un X para el futuro como mecanismo de marketing y lo absurdo de esto.
