I'm from Alaska and have played against Obed on a few occasions. He is so talented that he played against me (U18s) when he was 13. He has unreal playmaking and technique for his age.
I've played against his brother Abod, he played center back because if he played striker no team would have a chance of winning. From center back he still Dribbled our entire team multiple times and was cooks only way of scoring
Other young player thing happening in USA is in the Second tier USL Championship where Sacramento just signed a 13 year old academy player to their first team.
For added reference, the team currently is pretty good sitting at the top of the table so you can argue its in part a way to get him locked down so if he leaves its on a transfer and not a free instead of he is about to get regular first team minutes, but kid has been tearing it up in the Academy system where over two years he is averaging about 0.8 goals per game, which included playing in the U-13 team as an 11 year old.
It would almost seem unfair to his adult opponents. Imagine a 25 yr old centre back going up for a 50/50 header against a 13 yr old. If I were the CB I would be reluctant to go 100% because I would not want to hurt him. It's common to clank heads in such a scenario. Not worth a concussion to a 13 yr old if you ask me.
I'm a sounders fan, he is really good. He has proven that he can play at the level. Im also a STL City fan and Miggy Perez is in a similar boat. He has proven he can play at the level. I am really looking forward to these MLS prospects to develop.

Rush is one of the coolest youth clubs I played for! Nationwide and international as well and when I was playing there in like 2012-2014 once a year they had rush fest where Rush teams from everywhere and would come play tournaments against each other.
Not even going to lie when you mentioned the 2022 CCL It really hurted me since I'm a Pumas UNAM and NYCFC fan. But I do personally like Seattle Sounders because of it's amazing fans and the kits which in my opinion are better than my beloved pumas. I hope Obed Vargas can fulfill his potential. I used to be a former teammate of Obed. I played for Rush as a young kid. He was the best on the team. He’s determination and being able to keep calm and focus up in the moments it ment the most. I always wanted to be as good as he was. Realizing that he was even 2 years younger than me, made me value his potential even more
This is why, in FM, it's annoying when players under 18 don't want to sign 'because they want to continue their development' in their home club and then you can't get them in time for the homegrown player thing to kick in later down the road. That might be true for some Man City U18 guy, but I swear that if you offered a 15-year-old from Serbia a chance to go play in England, he'd throw his own mother under all the trains he needed to get there just for the opportunity. And his father would help. I hope they fix that in future versions.

Having watched some videos of the lad, I just don't get what people are excited about. This feels like a tale of someone who is physically (perhaps mentally) mature for his age and he's earned a chance to step up. I didn't see any signs of great pace, great control or creativity.

There's a serious point here: Players who play so much football so young have a track record of either failing to live to their full potential, or, in the case of players like Michael Owen, get some horrific injuries as they become marked men and their physical disadvantages as they are still essentially boys makes it real easy for the league's hard-men to put them down. Or they simply retire young, either because they get jaded earlier than other players or the injuries pile up sooner. I actually think there should probably be some law at the level of the football governing bodies that prevents Under 18s to play more than a certain amount of first team minutes, with perhaps an increase in allowed minutes between 18-21 before fully taking off the training wheels and allowing the opposition to be fully unleashed upon them.
ngl I like Vargas but i'm not even sure if he's the best eligible 2005 birth date USMNT prospect lol. Cremaschi, Buck, Wynder and Esmir at NE all have equally valid claims of being that year's best UMSNT prospect. There's a lot of talented players coming up IMO.

ngl I like Vargas but i'm not even sure if he's the best eligible 2005 birth date USMNT prospect lol. Cremaschi, Buck, Wynder and Esmir at NE all have equally valid claims of being that year's best UMSNT prospect. There's a lot of talented players coming up IMO.
