Dude, that intro song gets me everytime. I’m here because of Cleetus and stayed around. Cleetus gave you props not long ago in one of his videos. “Those gas ported doodads” are jewelry.
Got to love Pete's ability to play and write music, love listening to his lyrics of his own music, While he also Builds Badass Engines. I Mean Badass Turds.
Definitely a true engine builder. Camshaft goes in FIRST!! On a babbitt bearing engine, putting the cam in first allows you to support it on both sides so as you slide it in, so you don’t knick the bearings. Finally…
Happy Fourth of July. Thank you to all that have served and are serving and their families to allow me and my family the freedom and joy of living in The United States.
I'm a mad tappet head . Here for the knowledge and Information Must say I return for the quality music Mad respect you talented human you Cheers from Brisbane Australia
Another great video... teaching engine stuff and jammin all at the same time. What else would a normal person want ? All bases covered .. Great job MEAT !!
@@KimiWallrusI looked at the ones in my truck on accident. Still sent it. Has mediocre oil pressure with 15w40 at hot idle but still goes down the highway at 40 I also didn’t know they align hone them from the factory so they always looks wiped out.
Pete, you rock! Love the music you come up with🤘. There's no other UA-camr that put this much time and effort into their videos. I'll watch everything you put out. Peace
It occurred to me that if Cleeter fans was-be-about polishing turds Cleetus would have you building a motor for a Robinson 44 and not have bought a Blackhawk lol.
That guitar is so cool… Amazing sound too. I realize it is mostly through electronics. It makes for great machinists videos. Well done Pete! Damn you’re fast.
How many of y’all have been to Walmart looking for the Polishing Turds greatest hits. And the girl at Walmart tells you they are sold Plum out. To find out today it’s actually Pete playing the music in his videos. Because he’s real good at doing stuff.
Many years ago I was at a road race and had a very strange gearbox failure. Fortunately I had all the parts I needed to fix it except for this little cam actuator that had a bearing seized on it. I had to get that thing off to reuse the cam. Fortunately a friend's dad lived right next to the track and came out to hang and help. He took one look at it and said "I'll be back in 30 minutes." He took it home where he had literally just finished setting up his new lathe. Sure enough, 30 minutes later he was back with a custom made puller that took that thing off slicker than snot and a giant thermos full of fresh coffee. That puller is still in my tool box to this day. Only gets used maybe once a decade. The bearing only gets seized if something goes horribly wrong but everyone else just replaces the cam when this happens. Saves me like 80 bucks every time I use it.
Awesome! Pete, can you do a detailed video of degreeing the cam, to include what you were doing with the dial indicator riding on the outside diameter of the degree wheel. Also, what degree wheel is that?
That time-lapse song seems vaguely familiar 😀 Good deal man, sounds great. ALL HAIL KING JACK! For some reason, I now have an urge to go get some Extreme Pressure Lube and Torque my Head...
Interesting increasing the base circle Never seen anybody successfully do the roller conversion. Nice job dude Still wanna see ya lay it down with that SL1 back there dood I know mine kicks azz!!! And I'm an ESP guy from waaaayy back
So did you see the new ride ol Cleeter has being built and the turd he picked out to run in it. he has a bunch of horse torques running around in his head when he sleeps LOL!
Question: Needle bearings on the cam journals... So you block the oil passages... I get that, cause you'd never build oil pressure in the engine if you didn't... But do those bearings get enough oil, just from the slosh? Would they work in a dry sump situation? How about the pressure exerted on the needle roller points? I suppose that would depend on the lifter spring pressure at max lift? Would that not change as RPM changes? Sorry for all the questions... But I'm working through getting the whole needle bearing deal, as that's how all 2 stroke cranks are done... No oil pressure, but caged roller bearings, which have a higher pressure on the race than even a little needle bearing.
Why the pastigage hate? I use it all the time for work, but we are measuring bearings from 8" to 36" in diameter and soetimes take a crane to move, so a dial bore guage is not really available :)
Awesome content! How are the thrust loads managed when you go to the roller bearings on the cams? Do you need to add a torrington bearing or similar? I'm not familiar with LS engines, but if they run a babbit style bearing for thrust fed oil by the cam bearing similar to a crank, I would expect you'd change that too.
Pete, I have a question that possibly you could give your opinion of it and that is what do you think about the idea of rounding the ends of crankshafts counterweights and webs polished them to help the shed oil and or reduce parasitic power loss. I ask because years ago I purchased a short block from a Comp racer/engine builder and the Crankshaft counterweight and webs were rounded and nearly mirror polished. Additionally ever surface on the inside of the block was deburred, and polished. I understand the deburing and doing some clean up inside and outside of the wbecause I don’t like to cut my hands/fingers for no good reason and of course because the books I bought back in high school about engine building said to do it as well as washing the block with tide and hot water before assembling it.
The music alone is worth an extra 100hp!!
This music seems to have fixed my Hemi tick!
Doing the lords work imo
@@riccocool😂😂
The big ass degree wheel is worth an extra 5 on top of the big ass cams.

I wonder if He'd will put the Tabs on his merch store. I'd throw a few bucks that way. :)
Watching Pete put engines together has me believing he could put my life back together 😂🤙🏽
Made up a whole Torque the Heads Down song 😂
Is there ANYTHING better than prog-rock engine assembly videos with expert commentary???? No....I thought not!

The Greatest UA-cam Intro ever recorded!!!! Everyone else is fighting for 2nd place!!!
I come for the music and stay for the engine/car stuff
Every LS in the world needs those cam roller bearings. They will never look bad
If you don't look... lol

The Mastodon shirt is worth a like on it's own, not to mention the attention to detail.
1 step away from being a jugalo
The Mastodon tee and headless axe is a nice touch
That dial indicator on the degree wheel. 🤣
It's funny. I find myself with the intro music stuck in my head throughput my day. I catch me singing it to myself sometimes.
lol yall are mean. stop encouraging that shit.
I think the motors cease being turds once you're done polishing them!
Awesome Pete!
That tune rocks! \m/\m/ 80 Foot Pounds!😎💪🤣
Thanks for the video Pete! That is a really nice Jackson in the background.
Absolutely love the intro!!!
I had to wind back 3 times to work out what you were measuring with the dial test indicator at the front of the block 😂
Thanks for the knowledge.
That block is awesome
Blood Mountain is an excellent record. Also, car stuff.

Good stuff!!
We had a few 6 ft homemade sockets for all thread
Pete, gotta get the black snap back hats in stock.
Damn dude youre pretty good at doing stuff.
Thanks for showing how to properly assemble an engine. It will be cool to see it rip.
rip or RIP? You never know with Garrett 😂
Pete, could you please someday explain how to degree a cam. It would be great. Thanks m8. Keep rocking
Love the new new tunes rock on
Love your videos best UA-camr period
Keep up the good Music & work contint always good stuff brother :)
Interesting to see you still paint the valley for what I believe is better oil drain back.did not think anyone did that anymore .
Glyptal- I still do it
Small details is what separates average engine builders from dudes like Pete.
Pretty sure it was painted when he pulled it apart and he commented on it saying there’s really no evidence to support it does anything.
Lol yeah he said something like "the valley is painted, i dont know what that helps - I don't think it helps anything.."
Hi Pete , I got caught not trying every ring once and one was 20 up instead of 10 . Lesson learned .
Love the episode specific lyrics 🤘
Let’s get it 💯

Electric Wizard/ Super joint vibes !
the intro reminds me of quadrajet on a stock 350 with a broken lifter.
