    Definitely understand about the broken leg Mike! As I’m still recovering from two breaks on the ankle and one break in the leg from rushing to get to a garage to help my stepson, install his new turbo kit on his genesis coupe project. His first car he is excited about! Kind of brings me back to my roots and back to my mini truck in days. I gets me excited to get my 50 Oldsmobile with a 303 rocket motor going! Finally weight-bearing for a week after 12 weeks of couch duty definitely not fun! Love love your videos, man! Been watching for a while tried with him to meet you guys at Woodward dream cruise before M1 concourse. Keep up the awesome work! Oh yeah I’m one Rod and 28 screws in my leg definitely not fun!

    Mike, little cheapy tip I’ve used. If you need a HD spacer for stuff, I’ve used strips of the rubber ramp they put under carpets. It has a slight rib on one side and tapers from a thin 1/8” to about 1-1/2” thick. You can pull a thin strip of it between stuff like your header tubes until it’s perfect and it’ll survive quite a bit of heat and crap. Also, you can keep wider strips for chocks or even a ramp transition instead of pieces of wood, when needed. They’re usually free in the dumpster of carpet install places.

    Hey going good and making progress.
    Tip… you could have walked the cup over that weld at the collector to shrink it or draw it back in place. So you possibly wouldn’t need to cut the other welds. Also if you’re needing to cut fittings apart cut them in the center of your welds. That way you’re not shortening any thing and if you grind the weld down you can weld over what’s left of the old weld. Basically hiding your mistakes

    The size of a Caddy is huge but hearing you say it is a tight fit in the engine bay is questioned by my friends until you look at the design all the space is in the trunk and cabin for the comfort of the occupents and hauling luggage and pointed it out to fellow UK petrol heads who questioned your statement no room under the hood.
    Glad to see you back on this build, your SEMA build not my bag along with motor builds I was dragged up with my father and his brother my uncle drag racing so I learnt to build V8s by age fifteen and was taught to keep everything clean and could lay out the correct tools for the job on a baze covered tray and when used either wiped and put back in order to use next or put away by age ten, so yes by eighteen I was done with motor builds, although i do build 5th scale gas offroad trucks and buggies but buy in my motors from my trusted engine builder, so did not get entirely out of working on vehicles just on a smaller scale mainly due to badly breaking my back doing Enduro racing.
    Keep up the good work love your builds I am questioning the latest build would it not have been better to start from scratch and build a new chassis, just a thought.

    Great video Mike! I wouldn't worry about equal length. Due to the firing order and exhaust pulses, equal length headers are actually never correct. The exhaust pulses don't happen equally, across the bank. So it's kinda pointless, and was pushed as a selling tactic, originally.. Because it sounded good....

    Equal length/max flow is not just for performance. You can have the best of the best engine, the shiniest turbos and STILL mess it up by simply fumbling the pipework. Although with this car, it might be for the best to melt half of the pistons and valves before 660 mark, to save that body from flip, which it will do on full power pull, when those rear tires jam into those wheel wells.

  • @AdamOpheim
    @AdamOpheim День тому

    Beautiful work as always! Wonder if the attention to detail and the amount of time spent on things like piping are really worth it in the end. How many miles will you put on that? How long will you have it? I built a mild steel hotside on factory manifolds in a day. Have been running the same kit for 12 years on many different JY engines. Just replacing them as they blow. Its yet to miss a beat! I’ve had a solid 8 second drag toy semi reliably for all those years. Having tons of time and money wrapped up in something like a manifold or a hot/cold side for a toy that isn’t racing competitively seems crazy to me. Mig some mild steel together and go enjoy the ride! Best of luck!

  • @MrVolksbeetle

    I thought equal length headers were for 4/6cylinder motors? V8's don't have a symmetrical firing timing (in engine degrees) bank to bank, so there is some crazy math for proper length cylinder to cylinder (and i don't know it).
    As you have done Mike, just build it to fit and let the turbo and excess HP get you over the line.

  • @rodneymoore2154
    @rodneymoore2154 2 дні тому

    Great job with headers but my question is why didn't you run the tubs down like a zummy under the frame and then up into the collector up into the turbo. Even though I like the ford stuff your fabricating the hit and miss way is great think you
