I have been living here for over 5, in central Luzon years, ad my expenses, differ to yours a little, Most of the time there has been at least 2 people & up to 11 cats living here, but I bought a house, so don't have rent, which of course is your biggest expense, nd live on around USD350-400/mth, very comfortably. I don't eat very much imported food, but adapt local food at times to western recipes, but mostly I eat "local" meals, Being that I am 30 minute ride from nearest town, i rarely eat out as I don't drive at night these days, at 75, but recently a small resto opened next door, so I now eat out a little more often. I don't have aircon, but my last electricity bill was over P5k as I have 4 refer/freezers in a sari-sari to make ice & keep sodas & beer cold. The cats also eat well & cost me around P1,500/mth Living cheaply, but comfortably can be done & what I don't spend, I save incase of medical expenses or other emergencies.

You will not be doing much more than living, but yes you can, and live better than most around you

Only coming if you are coming there just to relax and live out a very quiet life. When I retire my fiancee, who will be my wife soon, still will travel like we do now, go out to eat at least once or twice a week and still enjoy life when we are not doing some things. That will cost us be we know it will be like $2500 U.S. to $3000 dollars. But that is what just will work for us
So, when you go there as tourist, you have only 30 days? Then what to do and where to go if you wanna stay for more couple of months? Men! Here in the usa is not safe anymore! Almost everyday theres crime like shooting and stealing and etc…..
@@stanleyandjenlyncrum7582 this might change as there’s a new law that might be voted changing to 59 days entry with the possibility to renew the visa for a maximum of 90 days.
That new 59 day entry is for the initial visit, they extended it from 30days and now you can apply online. Making it easier for foreigners to visit. The Philippines really wants foreigners to contribute to their economy, the 3 year visa is still going to stay
That's still lots of hassle especially if you are in the provinces, even that not all areas are nearby immigration centers. On top of that, there are those airports bruhaha. Im Fil Am, from Davao city. Cheers more power watching from ventura california
If you live in provinces yes you can live below $1000 but if you live with your Filipina then you need to budget $1500 to $2000 per month, that is my cost living in ITpark Cebu
I’m impressed with your videos, I’m subscribed. I’m a 70 year old widower wondering what I’m doing wasting the last few years of my life lonely, living in a cold climate here in south east Australia. I found this very encouraging and helpful and even exciting at the prospect !
@@painrick I highly recommend to go to online dating sites and find a young Filipina and if yiou bith compatible then come and visit her and see where it takes you. There are many young Filipina who looking for foreigners but be careful there are many Fiipina scammers on most dating sites so never send money until you come here and meet first for few months
@My Filipina Queen & Distinct Persian Lion, I actually just commented on another post about the exact same amount that you stated for your budget living price! I have only been to Cebu once about 5 years ago with my now pinay fiancee and we had a blast when we were there. (Amazingly as of the time of this post, we will be back there in Cebu in 5 days, lol). Guys have to go to the Philippines a few times just on vacation to see for themselves. They might have a pinay paramour who lives elsewhere like the outlying provinces which might be a bit removed from major or even smaller cities, but the only way to gauge how they really want to live is to spend some time in a Cebu City area or Metro Manila in the upscale areas as well as provincial localities to really see just how they want to live, I feel
Great Video very informative, this answered many questions thanks for doing this, so many of us tired of the west are going to be looking up these videos and this info is priceless for info on the ground there and managing expectations.
I retired from the USAF in 2013 and lived with my filipino wife in Imus, Cavite for 2yrs. We had a good time, had maids etc. But we came back to the USA. Might go back again soon, tired of working again...lol God Bless
It’s amazing how all these vloggers has a different perspective on budgeting in the Philippines 🇵🇭 people, everyone’s way of life is different…in this country you have to live 50/50, or more like the locals. I’m not saying that you have to live in a shack, but it’s all manageable, if you are willing to adapt. Myself, wife and daughter lives in the better part of Bulacan, North of Manila…apartment is about 4,500 pesos monthly /upstairs and downstairs with all inside amenities . Our overall budget is about 1,000$ USD 💴per month and we live and have recreation as well as 2 motorcycles 🏍️ however, some of these people behind the cameras 📸 are scaring others and making them second guess on their plans. My advice is…you do 3 months and get your feet wet, by then you should be able to tell yourself, whether or not you can manage or like the Philippines 🇵🇭 it is more fun in the Philippines 🇵🇭 for sure…stay safe and healthy y’all 🇺🇸🇵🇭💴
I was staying in nice hotels in Dumaguete for $500 a month. All utilities and WiFi included I also saw some homes that were long term renting at $450 a month Great prices ! And a nice place to stay as well
Even if you choose a budget to live on, two factors come into play. There are unexpected expenses of all kinds, they will come. And then it is the case that even if you live a healthy life, you can end up in hospital and all the expenses this entails. Most people forget that it is a good idea to have a larger amount on account for unforeseen expenses. I moved from the Philippines to the Costa del Sol in Spain and it's just as cheap here overall. My consumption for me and my wife in the Philippines was around 120-140,000 pesos a month but I never calculated how much I spent down to every peso. If the budget is so tight that people have to calculate every cent they spend they should have a buffer for the bad days.
If ur not a socialite, ur $1K here in the philippines is more than enough especially if ur not in big cities like manila. It include all foods and bills.
True I keep my budget n check I enjoyed my travels through the Philippines and I hope to return soon Great cost of living there and wonderful people :-)
Some of the comments are rude and insulting for no good reason. Thanks for the positive attitude and great budget breakdown video. Don't take the rude comments personally because it only says something about them, not you.
Thank you for the info . I am happy that you found a Filipina and enriched her life to a higher standard of living , She is also enriching your life in return , cooking , cleaning , laundry and company , Maybe foreigners should follow your ideas and direction for a happy life in the Phils . Rent and food are the most expensive expenses . About 70000 PHP is a comfortable living in the Phils I have been there three years and coming back soon .. Maybe do a bit on medical expenses . Best to you , Gary from Canada
70,000 a month? That's a lot for a small apartment. It can even survive for 3 months if you can get a low apartment for rent or your Filipina has her own property. 20,000 pesos close for me is okey including bills, schooling of 1 child, water and electric bills, and groceries. Include the snacks in the afternoon. I can keep that altogether with a little amount left. So stingy, anoh? For 1 month only.☝️ But if you always go out and eat outside, you need more than 20k pesos.
You summed it up perfectly in the first couple of minutes. You can live on 500 US a month if you can meet the requirements to do so. The problem with some other videos on this topic is they just rule it out and say it is impossible. What I do recommend is bring some emergency money just in case something unfortunate happens.
New subscriber of yours sir watching from Cyprus but I am from Lipa city Batangas.Iam glad I got bumped your channel who lives in the same city . keep it up sir stay safe both you and your wife 👍🇵🇭🇵🇭
Great video, very informative and I agree with a lot that is stated here depending on how some want to live. A flashier lifestyle is going to require a bit more money. A moderate lifestyle not as much more. A more "spartan" lifestyle should hit the range exactly as mentioned by this initial post I feel
Great video thanks Mr. Crum! Btw he lives in Lipa, which is 300 meters above sea level. It is cool and pleasant there. If you live at sea level your electricity will be higher because you may want to use aircon more.
Budgets for a person's living expenses are not generic, and it depends on many factors. I'll be budgeting P100,000 monthly, which will fit my "living style" and goals...
My plan is to live in the states for 7 months and in Cebu for 5 months. I may have to go on permanent disability because of my left knee. I can walk but with a brace which is putting me out of the trucking industry. Thank you for the video!
Thank you for showing us the breakdown of expenses in the Philippines. I am excited to visit the Philippines in 2 years (retirement). We both want to test the waters living there. We also want to come back here in U.S because we have children and grandchildren to visit too; but thank you for the information especially the conversion of expenses from dollars to pesos. ❤
I noticed in my wife's barrio in Pampanga, many retirees from USA and Europe made the place their home, along with families of other Europeans married to Filipinas. During weekends, the men would invite their neighbors for a drnk. In the Philippines, it is not just drinking, it is a drinking spree with karaoke till the wee hours of the morning. These Caucasians are now used to drinking with Pulutan hehe.
Hello my friend.. everything depends on peoples situation in life. Are you paying child support back home? A mortgage? Does your filipina g/f or wife have kids? Or do you have a kid with her? Her family will always need your assistance. Id say you’re living on the cheap. Your food bill is 18,500 pesos? I spend that alone at S&R.. not including Robinson. My rent is the same as you.. Electric bill.. 7000 pesos. Not gonna walk around the house with a towel around my neck sweating 24-7. Water bill? 500 peso. Restaurants a month… 50,000 pesos. I like my western style places. Not eating local foods.. I can’t account for the cleanliness. Don’t want diarrhea for 4 days or worms in my stomach. Gasoline about 8000 pesos a month. Always need to include Incidentals like medical bills medication dentists her family member needs some financial help.. also Immigration expenses if you have a tourist visa.. cloths, holidays, a monthly allowance for your g/f or wife.. if you’re not the kinda guy that scoffs at that idea.. cause you know your American wife had it! So if you see videos saying you can live on $700 a month here? Be prepared to live like the flintstones and use foot power to move your car.
True.. but my list compiled are real concerns to consider as well. Regardless of situations. These are the basics we’re all going to have to pay for. If you don’t have children with her? She’s got another man’s child or children. You’re gonna have to be daddy.
I subscribed, this my 3 monthly budget that i'm watching from you, and it's good to know, that this one is less than $900 a month, as a single person with no vices, it means that you are good to go, with $1000 monthly pension, provided you are not a womanizer and has no kind of vices to maintain!!
Very good information and well presented. I'm about to make the move to the Philippines, 23:32 and information like this is extremely helpful. Thank you.
I like the information you gave us. I've been doing many budgets for when I move to Cebu, and my total budget winds up being about $1079 per month. this is also taking into account rent of 25000 pesos per month. I hear many vloggers telling you if you don't budget at least $2000 - $2500 per month, you shouldn't consider moving here. what kind of lifestyle are they living. every budget I did, even with a savings of $200 per month for emergencies, came to less than $1300. So, I'm budgeting $1600 per month to start. My daughter in-law, a Filipina whose family lives on Panay Island (Antique) says at $1600, which at this moment is 92800 pesos, is a lot and she isn't worried about me being in Cebu with that much finances to use. Just don't flaunt it.
Most Philippines families In the province live on less than $300 per month, so it's really crazy when all these foreign saviour's come to the Philippines and try to make it just like the good old USA
Thank you very much I enjoyed listening to your video. I married a Filipina a little over a year ago. We are in the process of getting there here to United I was there back in last March of 2022 and I married her there we are just now in the process of getting there over here to USA I want to make sure that she can click my social security when I'm gone I am 65 and she is 55. But I plan on moving over to the Philippines as soon as my grandson is done with sports in School he is at the top of everything in sports especially football and baseball I'm sure he's going to get one good scholarship. And I will not miss none of his games so as soon as he is done with sports I will plan to move to the Philippines with my Filipina. I am retired now and I plan on keep on saving so I can make a good life in the Philippines I keep listening to all your videos and everybody else's. And learning from you guys I thank you again for all the information. Maybe one day we'll be able to meet bye for now
My opinion you can live in the Philippines by USD800 a month and it is already luxurious way of life . I.e housing rent, misc. expenses you needed to your household needs. For me 800usd a month is too much I mean you can afford anything you want. But is good and reasonable cost living in the Philippines. Ciao
I've built "Trial Budgets" for various cities in the Philippines... Figuring FOUR years of 6% Inflation & an Exchange rate of 40 PHP to the USD. [[[VERY Pessimistic, I know]]] Under $3k USD for the most expensive places I could think of. Versus $5k in the US, for the equivalent.
Yeah i would think 17OO to 2300 a month will allow you to maybe save few 100 a month.. You do have a start up expenses like getting to Philippines, Finding a place and get your place setup. So after that is done im sure you can trim the fat as i say and live comfortably
Try to visit also Lucban, Quezon that place is so nice and cheap to live in that place and try to check the place Batis Aramin you gonna love that place.
Good video and yes realistic as per how many Philippine people live. Living costs or style is and will always be subjective. I love the Batangas area. I will be living soon in the San Pedro area. My housing costs will be less than yours because Sofia has her own house. Other wise we believe a reasonable living budget their without housing is right around that $40,000 pesos area
Visit Hidden valley resort in Alaminos, Laguna you gonna love it and visit also the Hunder Island in Alaminos, Pangasinan you will be amaze how gorgeous is that place.
I’m from Missouri also and I’m in calamba Laguna area now and I just got my electric bill for a 2 bdrm house (15,800, $287.00 USD )but I keep my air con on all the time. The average electric bill for me is 11,000 peso or $200.00 USD.
i live in cabuyao laguna my electric bill is 100.00 usd but my air runs 24 7 we dont pay rent we own our house but i spend atleast 1500.00 usd but we get around i didnt come here to sit in a house i came here to see the country
A good video. From someone of a different backround. First 28 years in UK. Part age pension. Then over 40 in Australia Last 8 in Philippines. It does not seem like it on U Tube but over half expats are not American. In our bario one Canadian, two Dutch, two Australian. There is a large compound on the beach here started by Australian's long ago. My Filipino wife of 40 years+ over 25 years in Australia so like me also gets Australian age pension. A good combined pension, and other income above most. Our spending is on most things same as yours. Around P50,000 every four weeks. The rest saved for medical, trips, etc. and helping extended family, but we do not just hand out money ever. No one will ever know what we have or receive. That just makes you a target. Sold Australian home, built same size house here for less than one sixth the price so no rent.
Incase you didn't know it's illegal for a company to allow only 1 internet service provider, I lived in a condo they only had their internet company and were sued and had to allow other internet service providers also I watch seen a Philippine UA-camr show a video of his starlink service and it was fast and same price per month than others that is after you get past the initial 500 usd equipment cost
If you living in the province must cheaper. its enogh for me 200 dollar a month. I growing up in the mountain and i growing up in the city. I dont like living in the city proper. I like more on nature and free less.
I totally understand I was staying in a nice room in Dumaguete for $500 a month Food was about the same at $500 a month or less All utilities and WiFi with the room included Great cost of living in the Philippines
Maybe look into starling, up front cost is a bit high but you own the satellite dish and Wi-Fi router monthly cost is around 2500 pesos but really fast internet speed
McDonald's prices here in the Philippines are a lot lower than the U.S. I live in the Davao City area. We paid 48P for diesel last week. Good budget video.
I spent 3 months there and did my due diligence. I can exist off 40,000 pesos a month but that’s renting eating and watching every peso. I’d need 65,000 a month minimum to live and that’s renting somewhere for 15,000 a month
I am lucky to find a land lease here for P300 mth. I built a simple house for less then P100k. Internet is P1530 mth. I support my wife child and her parents on P370. While l could easily afford to live in a condo in downtown Cebu but l prefer the province life.

thats cheap compare to here in canada food cost about 2000 dollars per month to buy , rent can cost you between 1700 per to up 6k per month , never mind about philippines its cheaper there , because they dont have the same system set up as in canada ...., in the philippines there no greedy landlords , just in usa or canada ....and yes it is very cheap there to live in the philippines providing you have income coming to you all the time !

When I retire my fiancee, who will be my wife soon, still will travel like we do now, go out to eat at least once or twice a week and still enjoy life when we are not doing some things. That will cost us be we know it will be like $2500 U.S. to $3000 dollars. But that is what just will work for us
Thank you for this video. It's a ray of hope
You are welcome, thanks for watching 🙂

So, when you go there as tourist, you have only 30 days? Then what to do and where to go if you wanna stay for more couple of months? Men! Here in the usa is not safe anymore! Almost everyday theres crime like shooting and stealing and etc…..
Just go to the closest Bureau of Immigration office and extend your stay. You can do this again and again up to 3 years. Thanks for watching 🙂
Thanks man love you
That's still lots of hassle especially if you are in the provinces, even that not all areas are nearby immigration centers. On top of that, there are those airports bruhaha. Im Fil Am, from Davao city. Cheers more power watching from ventura california
I talked with my girlfriend about this too a few days back. She lives under $600. Good to hear different perspectives.
Thanks for watching!
If you live in provinces yes you can live below $1000 but if you live with your Filipina then you need to budget $1500 to $2000 per month, that is my cost living in ITpark Cebu
I agree with you. Thanks for watching!
Wow! I was thinking ITpark would be around at least $3500? Are you sure?

My advice is…you do 3 months and get your feet wet, by then you should be able to tell yourself, whether or not you can manage or like the Philippines 🇵🇭 it is more fun in the Philippines 🇵🇭 for sure…stay safe and healthy y’all 🇺🇸🇵🇭💴
That is great advice! Thanks for watching 🙂
I was staying in nice hotels in Dumaguete for $500 a month. All utilities and WiFi included
I also saw some homes that were long term renting at $450 a month
Great prices !
And a nice place to stay as well
I just subscribed and thanks for the video..

Thanks for your input! We appreciate you watching 🙂
If ur not a socialite, ur $1K here in the philippines is more than enough especially if ur not in big cities like manila. It include all foods and bills.
👍You are correct. Thanks for watching🙂

Thank you! I am in a good place in my life🙂
70,000 a month?
You are correct. Thanks for watching!
it is impossible, pls dont exacerate. 500 dollars just enough for a modest condo, with AC
rest is bs, live in jungle kubo ok enjoy

Great video, very informative and I agree with a lot that is stated here depending on how some want to live. A flashier lifestyle is going to require a bit more money. A moderate lifestyle not as much more. A more "spartan" lifestyle should hit the range exactly as mentioned by this initial post I feel

That is 👍 Thanks for watching 🙂

The biggest thing to take from the topic is just how different every person's needs and wants are. Every situation is different. Thanks for watching!
True.. but my list compiled are real concerns to consider as well. Regardless of situations. These are the basics we’re all going to have to pay for. If you don’t have children with her? She’s got another man’s child or children. You’re gonna have to be daddy.
I’m working really hard right now so I can retire at 40s in the Philippines just like you. That’s the life.
It has been great for me! Thanks for watching🙂
I subscribed, this my 3 monthly budget that i'm watching from you, and it's good to know, that this one is less than $900 a month, as a single person with no vices, it means that you are good to go, with $1000 monthly pension, provided you are not a womanizer and has no kind of vices to maintain!!
You can definitely make it with that. Thanks for watching 🙂
Very good information and well presented. I'm about to make the move to the Philippines, 23:32 and information like this is extremely helpful. Thank you.
No problem, thank you so much for watching 🙂
Very nice presentation. Thank you. I hope to be there soon... I know, just what PH needs yet another foreigner 75+ years!
Thank you! Most who come love it here. It's not perfect but I live a relatively stress free life🙂 Thanks for watching!
Watching here,sending you my support.
Thank you and thanks for watching 🙂
Thanks for sharing. I know I could easily live a comfortable life with that income. You will be fine. Thanks for watching our video 🙂

Ciao
Thanks for your input and thanks for watching 🙂
I've built "Trial Budgets" for various cities in the Philippines... Figuring FOUR years of 6% Inflation & an Exchange rate of 40 PHP to the USD. [[[VERY Pessimistic, I know]]] Under $3k USD for the most expensive places I could think of. Versus $5k in the US, for the equivalent.
I did the same thing for years before coming here.😉 Thanks for watching!
Yeah i would think 17OO to 2300 a month will allow you to maybe save few 100 a month.. You do have a start up expenses like getting to Philippines, Finding a place and get your place setup. So after that is done im sure you can trim the fat as i say and live comfortably
You are right. Setup can be expensive, but not as much as back home. Thanks for watching!

Awesome, and you are correct. No one will ever know our income. I am not comfortable with that. 🙂 Thanks for watching!
I love Australia! I visited Freemantle back in the 80's while I was in the Navy. There are many non-American expats in this area also.
