CSX Market Branch (Oak Point to Hunts Point)

Another, but MUCH better video of the Hunts Point Market train. Shoving this train are CSX Gensets 1305 &1306. The first scene shows the train leaving Oak Point Yard, which is about less or equal to a mile away from from the Market. Prior to leaving the yard the train travels on a track owned by CSX along the NEC and runs just past the switch that leads to the market. The conductor hops off, flips the switch and the train ascends up small grade to street level (seen in 2nd shot). Because the Market Line runs on the sidewalk, the train stops at the top of the grade and waits for the industries (a scrap company, concrete company, and recycling plant) that use the sidewalk to clear their equipment. Then the train proceeds to the Market where cars are sorted in the yard. The train usually takes hours to return (cars are brought back to Oak Point), so I usually don't stay to catch it. Oh yes been there done that... Worked hunts point market almost 2 years as an Engineer.

Nice to see freight being moved on the northeast by trains! Less trucks is good for the environment.

Freight has no schedule, but the train usually leaves Oak Point by 2pm

The area is decent. Not too good or bad.
