  • John Crews explains the ALL NEW Poler Pole Charge. It is a battery power management system for your fishing boat, NOT just a charger. It is like nothing out there for your fishing boat application. John installs it on his 2020 Bass Cat model Eyra bass boat. It works with your Power Poles and is controlled through the Power Pole C-Monster app. The Charge will work with almost any battery configuration you can think of for a boat.

    Retail price is $1,399. They are available now.

    Awesome! Kind of like the Stealth Charging system but I like the app integration. Thanks for sharing, I have my eye on this. It would also be cool if you did an update video after some time with the system.

      Jason Branham It’s different than the Stealth. Transfers power each way depending on where it’s needed. Will do an update. Thanks

    My starting battery has died several times. Have taken my boat to Toho Marine twice. Still having issues in that when the starting battery is dead the Ranger Ride System won’t turn on. They have a problem.

    Would you recommend one 36 volt battery or three 12 volts . I’ve heard it’s better to run three 12 volts . But I can’t remember why.

    From what I could find,this is the only charger that works with single 24/36V batteries.I am going with a LifePo4 12v and a 24V and want to avoid using 2 separate chargers.Lithium Pro does have a DC 12/24V charger,but you still have to have a charger for the 12V battery.So this seems to be the ticket,and is no bigger than current 12V 2-bank unit.Great explanation!

    Lots of things in question concerning this demo video and the PP Charge functionality.
    Charge on the run programming, if done correctly, would have the cranking battery fully charged before transferring any alternator power to the TM batteries.
    *This has been tried many times over the years with Stay-N-Charge and other brands.
    Having four group 31 Odyssey AGM batteries, twin HDS 12's with chirp/down-side scan ducers, LWX-1 weather module, Sirius radio, twin Powerpoles, and livewell running, I have no starting/power issues after fishing from daylight to 4 PM. Cranking battery is not over half discharged at days end.
    Using my Motorguide 36VDC Tour in Potomac tidal water with grass/heavy current for the same 10 hour time span, I still have well over half of my TM battery power left. As most of us fish waaay more than we run, the ability of charge on the run to utilize excess alternator power is in question. We may run at distance 1st thing at launch but your batteries are fully charged then. Even with my new Mercury V8 250hp ProXs which provides provides a net charging output of 20 amps at idle and 85 amps total at wide open throttle, it takes an easy hour run at WOT to top off a half depleted cranking battery at the end of a full day fishing. For the majority of us, an hour run is not the norm. At the end of the day were not concerned with TM battery power levels, so I don't see how any charge on the run system is useful and also how could it/would it shift alternator power to TM batteries throughout a fishing day with only intermittent runs with the engine?
    Please explain.

      I agree, who cares if it can charge on your run in the AM when they're already full, and PM when you dont need them any longer. Short couple minute runs wont do much. I'm more curious about all the transferring from cranking battery to trolling back and forth. That's adding duty cycles to each battery and taking their overall longevity away.

    So beyond the obvious App, why is a 1400 power pole charge better than a 350 dollar stealth? And the stealth doesn’t let any charge go to the tm, until the cranking is 100%, which to me is much better set up than what the power pole does? Another great informative video! Thanks for sharing!

    • @JohnCrews
      @JohnCrews  2 роки тому

      There is no setting the Stealth. You set the Charge to exactly what type and size batteries you have. Charge also transfers power to where it is optimized in short. I also have had terrible experience with the Stelth and know 2 boats that caught on fire with it

    can you mix battery types such as agm to starting and lithium for trolling or lead acid for start and agm for trolling? seems pricey but if it works and lasts not so much. one thing i dont like on any one on the market is the lead lengths. should be able to shorten them instead of wrapping the extra up.

    • @JohnCrews
      @JohnCrews  4 роки тому +1

      richard cranium yes, you can mix like that. You program what batteries you have it on in the app. And you can monitor how much charge each battery has.

    Awesome review! If it’s draws power from 12V starting battery to your 36V trolling motor up front then are you getting the same power out of the trolling motor.

    John, my background is in engineering and an avid fisherman. I would suggest looking into an item called click-bond. We have basically used these to replace stud welds on several military applications. Just make sure you get the right one based on shear or compression loading, depending on how you mount it. I’ve been curious about this charging system. Do you like it better than the MK chargers?

    Just need tell everyone if you leave the power pole charger on and do not plug it up if it sits for a long period of tim it can drain your battery’s cost you a bunch if they don’t recoup from being drained, just cost me between $750-$800 hope the one battery that seams to have changed is good!!

    How is the one lithium battery for your trolling motor in terms of holding up an entire day? I have seen alot of guys running dual 36V for more power, but I wanted to upgrade myself but was thinking only one like you show. Thoughts?

    If you use 2 12 volt batteries hooked parallel for 12 volts and 3 12 volt batteries for 36 volt will it still charge and work the same?

    Hey John, so I'm thinking of investing in a lithium setup in my Ranger. I noticed you are running the one 65Ah 36v battery for your trolling. Would you still recommend that setup without the power pole charge or have multiple batteries because i noticed Lithium Pros offer bundle packages?

    I have 3 108 amp/hour and and one 12, to run two livescopes, a bird and poles I wish I would have had this 6 months ago. 4 large batteries is a lot for an 18 foot crappie boat

    Hey John, please let us know what it feels like after a few days out there beating up that TM battery. I'm on the fence going to Lithium in my Eyra, may just because don't trust them yet that that price point. Maybe the charger is also where I am stuck.

    Thanks for sharing this charging system. This is exactly what I've been looking for but I do have 1 question for you...How long does that 1 Lithium 36V battery last you when you're fishing a tourney (at the end of 1 day what's your battery %)?
    Thanks in advance!

    • @JohnCrews
      @JohnCrews  4 роки тому +1

      06SCOOTY06 Sure. Without this charger, I’ve seen between 60-80% power left in a single 36v Lithium Pros battery after a tournament day. With this system, there should be a lot more power left.

      @@JohnCrews I really appreciate your quick response to all of our questions. I've been talking to the guys at Lithium Pro for the past couple of weeks & I was really on the fence about buying 2 Lithium 36V Pros & a Lithium starting battery.
      Now I'm thinking if you (a professional) don't have 2 Lithium 36V trolling motor batteries why should I. Nothing wrong with anyone that has this set up. I'm just out here having fun.
      Thanks again for your insight & please keep the videos coming.
