True story - sat at this one in the North Stand, my brother went to get coffee, missed the first ten minutes, came back, sat down, and said 'what's wrong with the score board' 🤣
Brilliant 😂
I went to the bog and missed the first 2. Amir Khan once had a fight with breidis Prescott and he was knocked out in 34 seconds. I missed the whole fight because I was having a pish.
😂
poor guy 😂
Haha i would have asked the same then googled the score 😅
That was the first ever rugby game my girlfriend watched on TV. After 7 minutes she told me: "I really wasn't expecting rugby been such an entertaining and captivating game!". Goes without saying that she soon learned what being an Italy's rugby supported usually is like... 😂
Don’t knock the Azurri, they’ve had a great start to this year’s 6 Nations. I hope you beat Wales (definitely possible) and come away with more than the Wooden Spoon this year.
Great prediction by the commentator: 'forward battle, war of attrition, little expansive rugby'
I thought the same thing
😄😂😆😅😃🤣😀
0-21 in the first 7 minutes, 17-16 in the other 73! What a great year that was for Italy

What year was this?
@@jamesbong4928 2007, Italy beat both Scotland and Wales that year
@@saoirsedeltufo7436 Thank you. They were much improved last year too, so here's hoping...
@@jamesbong4928 Yeah wins against Wales and Scotland wouldn't be out of the question
The Scottish commentary here is brilliant !
Three intercepts. Three tries. One hundred percent conversion. Well done, Italy.
3 Scottish Errors - standard Scotland - still at it more than 15 years later.
@@huzcer we haven’t lost to Italy in 8 years and we are ranked 6th in the world so we are doing ok
@@Mulletman4 Scotland haven't even got a single six nations championship since the turn of the century where every other country bar Italy obviously has at least 4 or more in the same timeframe including grand slams. Scotland have dire for over 20 years
@@huzcer always better than england, so there's that.
@@JD_13 in the last couple of years yes as England have gone on a slide but England did win 9 matches on the trot not so long ago against Scotland (up to 2017) and in fairness England have won actual titles such as 7 six nations titles including as recently as 2020 to Scotland's 0 and a world cup win and a world cup final last time out too.
Also worth watching the 2000 Bledisloe in Sydney. ABs were up 21-0 after 5 minutes, but amazingly, the scores were level at 24-24 with 10 minutes still left in the first half
If only the wallabies could compete against the all blacks like that these days
@@mitchellking4988 they did once last year, they were about to win until the you know what happened
@@dylanbaron__ There's a new rule now. 60 seconds for a penalty kick. Just a bad time to decide to enforce the time wasting rules.
The ABs got penalized for taking to long at a line out not so long ago. But it wasn't at such a critical time.
@@donrobertson4940 overall I think the new rules are good. I’ve heard there’s new time rules around scrums and free kicks too
I remember it well. ABs won 39-35 after a try by Jonah Lomu in the dying stages. An exciting match where the lead changed hands a number of times during the second half.
As an England supporter living in Scotland this was just pure comedy gold. Remember it well, LMFAO!
The last 5 out of 6 years has been pure comedy gold against England 😎
huhuhuhuhuh. And then we spanked you year after year.
I thought the same about Twickenham, 2023, 52-10 wasn't it. THAT was a demonstration.
We need a match like this in RWC 2023 with an underdog leading. Exciting for the game.
A match that proves that old adage “Never be late for the kickoff”: Italy's first try was after 18 SECONDS!
Scotland backline moves straight out of EA Rugby 06
Puahahahahahahaha... Memories😍
I've seen the under 8s at my Local club string together some better Moves than what the Scotch produced in their back line here
The moment I remember from that game was later on, after a stoppage in play, Troncon (Italian #9) ruffled Cursiter's hair in a commiseratory way, as if saying 'don't get too down lad, we all have these games at some point...'
I watched england vs Italy in Rome. The Italian supporters were great and Rome was fantastic. Your team deserved this win, so did every italian supporter.
Bellissimo. Io irlandese l'ho veramente goduto quella partita e anche quella contro Australia quest'anno!! Nutro ancora grandi speranze! Italia VAI!!
E secondo me ti disse "nei primi 20 minuti" invece che nei primi 7 perché sapeva che altrimenti non gli avresti MAI creduto nemmeno sotto tortura.
It would be nice to see Italy not end up last this year, hopefully they can shake up the six nations to help the other nations take on Ireland and france
theyll probably finish 5th-4th. i see england and wales being really shit this year
@@portorportor8247 i think 2024 will be when england are back to normal but new coach + still having to choose between smith and farrell (i think its one or the other they didnt play well in a 10-12 combo) will cause some heavy growing pains
Was at the the match - couldn’t believe how bad Scotland were
@@keeemon4451 We’ve got Gatland, and England are unpredictable. Either could win the tournament.
You basically get what you deserve in the Six Nations.
A game never forgotten by Scots ( and Italian) fans…I still bear mental scars!!
It's like the Elvis moment; i remember exactly where I was when this happened (luckily not at Murrayfield).
The Wallabies have been shit since the game became professional. Way too much money in the other 3 codes for Union to compete for the best athletes.
What was the final score and what year was that?
@@keithdoyle7423 2007 (says so in the title) and final score was 17-37. It was Italy's first away win in the 6N. I remember thinking that if it wasn't for those first 7 minutes, Scotland would have won by 1 point; 17-16. Totally clutching at straws, I know.
Was at Murrayfield with 2 first-timers for this, wonder if they ever went back? Scotland actually lost it twice, they'd got back to 24-17 with 20 minutes to go, the point at which Italian teams often folded. But instead Scotland folded, Italy won the last quarter 13-0.
Scotland were the utter pits in those days, little wonder the stadium was barely half full. Players with no confidence in themselves and an SRU that just doesn't care...
Really interesting to see the differences in the game from only 16 years ago. Little things like where the ref stands at the line out, to huge rule changes like taking it back into the 22.
Looking back it seems to flow so much more smoothly and not need the ref to be blowing his whistle every 2 minutes.
@Jay M "Eh" right back at you. The game flowed better and with less interruptions back then, and most of the rule changes have been bad ones. They didn't "have to" make those changes, they chose to. No mix ups, try again.
Oh man I do NOT miss this era of Scottish rugby lmao
There are people calling for Italy to be kicked out of the 6 nations, but when you get to the level that the best teams play at, teams like Italy, Japan, Georgia Canada, the United States and the rest need all the elite level rugby they can get to improve. I look forward to the day when more than three or four teams could win the world cup.
Agree - and I don't know about Italy, but for sure if elegibility rules were just a little more serious than they are, we would at least have two Pacific nations contesting for silverware and a couple of European ones left behind.
Italy had its chance and for a very long time. Argentina has improved by playing Southern Hemisphere. Japan kept buying players until it became reasonably competitive. Even Polisian nations have formed a team now. Italy always wooden spooner or almost one. Georgia has shown enough consistency to deserve a spot and improve as you suggested, but replacing Italy.
@@TheRadFactor Italy is 4-1 against Georgia in all competitions, though. And against Japan they are 7-2. It's just their level: a perennial third place in Rugby World Cup pools.
the only time a Scotsman is generous ....when giving away points.....
Happy memories!
I know it's not six nations, but you should check out the 2004 super rugby final. Brumbies score 5 tries against the crusaders in less than 20 minutes.
Just watched the highlights after your recommendation. That Brumbies team was stacked with talent. Cheers
Who?
@@FattyMatty426 I think that they were basically the Wallabies at that point, and not a shit Wallabies team either, a really good Wallabies side. They were a real threat to the ABs then and not just an occasional bump in the road.
@@grahamnancledra7036 act brumbies mate have a look
Blimey: the Crusaders are just about the best team in Super Rugby historically. That must have been a brilliant game!
Reminds me of 2000 Tri nations match between the ABs and the Wallabies. 24-7 in the first 10 minutes to NZ, 4 tries scored within that period.
That was and still is the best rugby game ever.
Jeez that was some brutal passing from Scotland but excellent finishing from Italy
That 9 to 12 axis for Scotland was on fire 😂
Just about 8-10 years ago Italy did the same thing with a Scotland that tried to get long passes across the front of field, and were at least 12 points down in two minutes. Italy are great with intercepts.
Ah, the days when if one of the other five nations was going to lose to Italy...you could put some pretty safe money on which one it would be.
I mean 1 chargedown and 2x interceptions. It was the last time Scotland tried backs moves for a good number of years and relied on Dan Parks...
That's a great analysis!
NZ were 21-0 up against the Wallabies after only 5 minutes in 2000!
Just FYI Australia actually came back to lead, including during injury time. Jonah Lomu then scores to win for NZ in front of a world record 109,000 people.
But yeah nice video 😂
The game that stopped a woeful Wales getting the Wooden spoon. Thanks Italy. LOL.
che bell'Italia!!
Great start by Italy! Wow 💪🏾 nearly as good as the All Blacks v Wallabies in 2000. The ABs scored 3 tries in 5mins. Epic game too
AB V Wallaby completely different two well matched teams, this is supposedly a top tier team v a second or third tier team. That said scoring 3 tries in five minutes in any game is pretty good
I'd say this game was the worst start ever by Scotland rather than best start ever by Italy. ABs had a great start in 2000 by scoring their own tries not just cleaning up mistakes
@@gumnutgear you’re absolutely right with everything you said.
Scotland had just beaten Wales in the previous match so weren't in bad form, making this start even more bizarre. Odd to see Murrayfield with empty seats too.
Back then the Italy match wouldn't be sold out; even France wouldn't be. Think many just weren't prepared to watch the defeat live at Murray field and instead just stayed at " the hampton" 😉
This was actually quite full for Murrayfield back then. The national team were that bad.
One of the worst grounds I have had the misadventure to visit . Your view of the whole pitch is restricted so anything happening on the side-lines is hidden from you and as soon as the game starts to heat up, spectators stand-up and you cannot see out to the halfway line despite being 6-1
I looked up complacency in the dictionary and it brought me here.
Mind watching that game in the my clubhouse (Orkney) a lot of four letter words in the clubhouse that day.
Me, seeing the thumbnail:
"21-0 with only 7 minutes gone!" Huh, that is a VERY good start to a football (soccer to avoid confusion) game.
Watches video:
Ohhhh, it's a rugby game. Still really impressive though.
Always wonderful to see the jocks get a pounding.
Remember this well.
Andrew Cotter's announcing this game? I expect Olive and Mabel to be running on the field. 😂
Wow! Amazing. Good on ya lads! 🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️❤️
Quegli indimenticabili 420 secondi...
Those unforgettable 420 seconds...
ALL BLacks vs Australia 1999, AB's up 21-0 after 7 mins. Practically all square by half time. Greatest game ever.
Should be an investigation into the betting trends. Just look at the the third try.
World class phill.
All Blacks Aussie 2000. Best game of all time ABs scored 3 tries in 5
I remember it well. Scotland kept putting ball in touch with penalties going for 7 points. When in fact if Parlterson went for 3 every penaltiy we had. I think we would have won
I watched and to this day, I blame the strip. What were Scotland thinking?
The strip...and the English obviously.
Why has this come up on my feed? Amazing! Anyway I took my young son to this match and was so so so happy to watch these three tries go in right in front of us. Yes we are English and we support anyone playing the sweaties.
Block punt recovered for TD and then two pick sixes
Rugby 101 - establish going forward before going wide. 😅
Just like the first of three tests in Australia a decade-or-so ago, where the Wallabies didn't pay Wales "the respect" we "deserve"d - and they only just got away with it that night.
seriously the scot strip looks like a club. Tired of them using alternative strip when there is no clash!
Check All blacks vs Wallabies 2000. What a crazy start that was too
Many have mentioned this. I never watched that game live, but saw clips of the start - and climax.
There was a (possibly) dodgy breakdown before the All Blacks forced a turnover. The rest was history, I guess...

Scotland 17 - Italy 37.
An ample lesson in how NOT to play out from the back!
It's time for Ulster to make it the 7 nations.
The 9 SCOT played for ITALY...
❤❤❤
What was the end score?
Italy won 37-17.
How come the kick 5:30 wasn’t brought back? Italy had a ruck outside of the 22m and passed it back in.
At the time, 2007, it was legal to pass back the ball into your own 22 to clear directly into touch. An ELV (experiment law variation) brought in around 2008 I think was adopted in 2008/9 that stopped this "pass back"
This is funnier that Nicola Sturgeon's covid home movies.
Then 4 weeks on we beat England and Wales
As an Englishmen, that is a heart warming 7 mins. 😄😄😄

Most of his critics are glory hunters that didn’t go to Murrayfield when it was half full for internationals. Perspective is definitely needed

Hi, all...i'm still learning about the most awesome game in the world...that first try...my friend with the awesome hair blocked the kick and recovered it for the try. It wasn't called a knock on, which I assume is because it was kicked not thrown. am i close on that? thanks!
If you block a lofted kick with your hands/arms and it travels forward, it's classified as a legal "charge down" and play can continue without sanction 👍
@@downsy4567 thank you! now that you say that, I've heard the phrase 'charge down,' but didn't connect it with being a rugby legalality! So, if it's a grubber kick, or a lateral pass knocked forward, an opposing player can't knock it down or forward, without penalty? Thanks for the assist!
Yes, I think the law states "immediately" i.e. before it hits the ground, so once a grubber kick hits the pitch it can't be charged down.
@@downsy4567 and considering grubbers...that gives the boys precious little time to get a hand on it. Cool. Thank you much!
