JAMBALAYA RECIPE | the best one-pot Cajun jambalaya!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 тра 2024
- Jambalaya is classic New Orleans comfort food! It's a hearty blend of chicken, sausage, shrimp, veggies, and rice - brimming with spiced Cajun and Creole flavors.
And while jambalaya seems difficult to make (which is what I thought before I tested this recipe), it's quite the opposite! Plus, I've got a homemade Cajun seasoning that really brings this one-pot Louisiana meal to life. Hope you enjoy!

Who else loves flavor-packed Cajun food? And PS - Don't forget the creamy Cajun chicken recipe on my website as well. I think you'll love that one as well! :) xo - Lisa

Thank you very much for this recipe. I tried it with all the ingredients and procedure you’ve suggested but, changed the manner the rice was cooked. I did half Basmati and half parboiled, like 3 cups each on the rice cooker separately with Turmeric for color and chicken stock for flavor. I combined them altogether at the end. Proud to say it’s perfect.
Don’t worry Lisa, people in Louisiana can’t agree how jambalaya should be made either. Everyone here in Louisiana makes it a little different because we all learned from our families. Rarely are any 2 people’s recipes the same unless they’re using box mixes 😂. Love your recipes and the book!
Thanks so much! I'm glad you're loving my recipes and cookbook. And yes, the lovely thing with food is how many tasty variations there are. 🤗
Kind of like how the only thing two Italians can agree on is that the third Italian is cooking it wrong.
That may be true. However, if it's tomatoe based it's Creole, if it isn't then it's Cajun. That's not an opinion. They are telling her correct, this isn't a cajun Jambalaya, it's Creole.
As a Cajun in South Louisiana, I'd consider this a Creole New Orleans version of jambalaya. Cajuns don't put tomatoes in theirs. But this recipe came just in time for Mardi Gras! Thanks!!
I talk about those differences on the full recipe blog post. 😊 Hope you enjoy it!
You are correct, this is Creole
I love it when you're cooking and all ingredients do what they're supposed to be doing.
Made this today and it's SO good!! It's very hearty and filling. Thanks, Lisa!
Glad you liked it!!
Made this last night for the family. They loved it. Thank you!
I LOVE cajun food, especially Jambalaya (authentic version). Thanks you for sharing this recipe.
I made this tonight for the family…..So good! 🎉
This looks amazing! I am sorry this recipe has brought the haters out in droves. A simple Google search refuted every comment, but as a South Louisiana girl myself, I could tell you had done your research. Thank you for all of the work you do to bring us these amazing recipes. 😁💜💚💛
Aw, thank you! Yes, there's always going to be differences of opinion on recipes, even from the same region and neighborhood, haha. I'm just trying to bring people tasty food! 😉🤗
For the most part, I didn’t see haters, just people joining in a discussion about variations and how they make it.

I've always heard about this meal and wondered how it's done...you made it seems so simple, easy and delicious, it's much like our Filipino's "arroz valenciana" and "bringhe" with the latter being cooked with coconut milk instead of tomatoes and then wrapping up (literally) in banana leaves.
It looks delicious! I have to give a try some day soon! Maybe this weekend! Thanks for sharing!
This is the FIRST jambalaya recipe that shows about avoiding mushy rice. You nailed it! Thanks for this important tip.

Really incredible. Like it a lot.
Just bought your cookbook so excited!
Yay, thanks so much Kim!
Made it today for the first time. 9/10 tasted as good as it looks in the thumbnail.
This is a beautiful recipe for Creole jambalaya. Cajun jambalaya has no tomatoes, otherwise basically the same dish. Regular smoked sausage is used as commonly as andouille, often a local brand like Manda, Double D, Veron or Savoies. This recipe is authentic and I’m sure it tastes fantastic! I love that you are introducing this flavorful and healthy dish to your large audience, Lisa! I think many people don’t realize many Cajun and Creole dishes can be fresh and healthy.
Thanks so much! And yes, I talk about those differences and variations in further detail on the recipe blog post on my website. Enjoy! ❤️

So the New Orleans area of Louisiana is more Creole than Cajun?
@@jimv1983New Orléans is créole. Cajuns also do NOT typically use anything other than andouille for Cajun dishes.

Worked a treat thank you.
Gonna make this for parents anniversary OMG I’m excited, from Italy 🙌🏽
Hope they love it!
That looks great, it's a creole/Cajun blend that I can imagine tastes as good as it looks, I like both because they tastes alike to me either with
I am definitely going to try this!!!!
I'm eager to try this mouthwatering recipe.
Your recipes are so kitchen friendly. I’m want to try each one.

Happy to help provide a little dinner inspiration for you!
Just so y’all know. This recipe is lit. 🔥Straight FIRE. Go cook it and stop looking for other recipes 🎉 💯
Super easy to make. Thank you!!!!
You are so welcome!
Nice job! I cook pots of jambalaya for my church. We are very similar. Al dente rice is key and don’t over cook the shrimp. Super.
.
Alastor will love it.
Looks delicious
Can’t wait to make this!
Excited for you to try this new dish!
I can't wait to make this one! I'll try with chicken and sausage, as my husband isn't a fan of shrimp. :P I'll make the three meat one when my bestie visits in April. ;) Thanks, Lisa! You never disappoint! 😁
Great! Hope you enjoy both variations of it.
Looks so yummy! 😍
Thank you 😋
Appetizing ❤
I have pot luck poker night tonight and am gonna make this to bring! Perfect timing! :D

Looks fantastic 😍. What could I use instead of bell pepper?
It looks good
Thank you! 👌🏻❤️
Ahh that's looks so good! Seriously, how do you even come up with these amazing recipies lisa?
I'll get random inspirations here and there - and then test away in my kitchen! 😊
I hopped to the comment section and found no haters! You pleased the cajuns and that's an impressive feat of it's own! Looks phenomenal
I make Jambalaya , grits and a King Cake every year for Mardi Gras on Fat Tuesday. I am going to try your recipe this year. It looks divine.
Wonderful! Hope you enjoy it Kathy!
Very nice recipe video
I like this recipe I've had some problems with Jambalaya previously.
Hope this one turns out perfectly for you!
@@Downshiftology I’ve had success with all your recipes that I’ve made.
I've made lots of Jambalaya but never with Basmati. Intetesting. Im going to have to try it. Sounds like it might work great since basmati has such an aromatic flavor.
Hope you enjoy 😊
Though jambalaya is made many ways, in Cajun Country, it’s a local tradition to use pork and sausage, andouille is nice, but a good smoked sausage works great. Your version is more New Orleans based. Parboiled rice is often used, especially by novices as they learn how to cook the rice to perfection. Great tips for those who want to try this as a new dish. I personally love the lighter version made with shrimp and chicken, sans sausage as it can overpower the delicate shrimp and chicken flavor. Like gumbo there’s no wrong way to make jambalaya, great time to share as Mardi Gras is this week.
You're so right Katy, lots of variations to jambalaya. It's all about making tweaking it to your liking! :)
Thanks for mentioning the issue with sausage. I never add shrimp because my husband prefers 2 pounds of sausage in his🤗 Definitely would overpower any shrimp
Thank you.
This was good, I subbed the rice for riced cauliflower to keep it low carb….yeah not as good as real rice, but still very yummy considering my restrictions. Thank you!
Good job.
If I'm using regular long grain white rice how long should that cook for?
Keep up the good work, Anna!❤ What is more, you just ignore the haters with their destructive criticisms! Rooting for you always!👌🏻💯
Haha thanks Esther! 😂
Calm down people. Not everything is about religion or one’s preferred god. If you are offended about ‘holy trinity’ I can only imagine your outrage over the saying ‘holy cow’ 🤣. It’s a cooking show. And a good one!
Nah, I’m offended by the tomatoes
