    I'm late in the game checking out this video regarding FLC, but I'm so glad I found it. For me it has proven to be the most helpful and informative of all the FLC related videos I have come across! I have been struggling with the 'inner workings' of FLC and your simple and very understandable tutorial got me to that eureka moment. Many thanks.

    So, FLC is used when you wish to climb or descend, but keep a constant rate of speed, which is accomplished by utilizing pitch (autopilot) and power (pilot).

    Hey there, when in situations with a non-standard BARO setting, I'm noticing that the autopilot seems to disregard the adjusted altitude readings and fly to altitude that would be correct for a 29.92 BARO setting. So for example I was somewhere with a local pressure of 30.16, and then I set the altitude bug to 7000 feet and engaged FLC, and the autopilot took the plane up to about 7200 feet as read by the altimeter on the G1000, but the autopilot was reporting it was at 7000. I had to set the bug to like 6800 to get the plane to 7000 as reported by the altimeter. I read something somewhere else indicating that the autopilot may not get its BARO information from the same place in the G1000, but everything else I read claims the autopilot is "Fully integrated". is there some way to push the BARO info to the autopilot? BTW I was in the Beechcraft G36 during all of this

      Thanks for your question! I just tried reproducing your scenario with the G36 in FS2020 and unfortunately I didn't see the same behavior. It properly leveled off and maintained 7000 feet for me. You're right that this autopilot should be fully integrated with the G1000 and its altimeter setting (although there are autopilots that work as you mentioned, such as the KAP 140, where you have to set the BARO setting). Send me an email at mike@zerosideslip.com if you want me investigate further.

    XCUB PLANE does the g1000 justice.

    Thanks. Though I still struggle with FLC. I notice you keep having to press FLC. What turns it off... Changing alt? Also I've noticed a few times when I try to use it, it won't turn on. What's causing that? Is it clashing with something else.

      Hi David, FLC is turned off once the autopilot transitions to ALT mode as you approach your selected altitude (you'll see that indicated in green text above the attitude indicator). Once that happens, the autopilot's goal is to capture and maintain the selected altitude, and you would need to press FLC again to initiate a new climb/descent. Before you do that, however, you need to ensure a new altitude is selected. Hope that helps - if not feel free to email me (mike@zerosideslip.com) and I can investigate further.

    My flight mode stays in ROL, how do i change it back to LVL

    • @FlightSimCoach
      @FlightSimCoach  3 роки тому

      Hi Dominick, ROL is what you should see. I suspect the LVL mode was an error in the modeling of the G1000 that was fixed after I made this video. It should show ROL according to the G1000 pilot's guide.

      @@FlightSimCoach Thank you. I enjoyed flying using LVL because it kept the plane level. With AP it always flies at an angle. How do i set ROL to 0* so it flies level?

    • @FlightSimCoach
      @FlightSimCoach  3 роки тому

      @@dominickbruni You're welcome. ROL mode on the G1000 generally aims to maintain the bank angle that existed when the mode engaged. I would suggest pressing the HDG button on the autopilot, then using the HDG knob to select your desired direction of flight. Check out time 4:27 in this video to see me doing this. If you have trouble, let me know.
