I love how pleasant you are at the beginning of your videos. You sound like a super nice guy! I'm just starting to learn MSFS, and have been struggling with this very subject (on the G3X in the NX Cub in my case). This video was the best explanation I've seen to date. Thanks so much for this short but explicit video!
Hi Huddison, Nice video as always. Something to remember when using FLC .. Don’t bother setting the FLC climb speed on the ground. When activating FLC the G1000 captures and sets the aircraft’s current speed. This ensures a smooth transition avoiding any sudden pitch movements, and will help your passengers to keep their stomachs full🤮 You can then use the nose up/down buttons to fine tune the set climb speed afterwards. Typically I hand fly the initial climb out / departure. Once above 1000ft AGL and in stable climb I can flip on the G1000 AP which will hold the current pitch / roll attitudes. Now I just dial in my target altitude and hit FLC. Thereafter it’s just a case of manually managing the power settings to keep the climb as desired (as we don’t yet have auto throttle 😉)
While I am not so sure about the need of these modes in a simulator, I see where real world pilots use them quite a bit. They use them to assure their own safely.
Thanks. The "Back To Basics" tutorial playlist is really fantastic and enlightening.
Thanks Hans, that' highly appreciated.

amazing comment. Thank you and best of luck with your Flight Sim adventures.
Agree, best explanations, for a newbie especially, I've found.
Excellent presentation. I agree with your approach to using both VS and FLC. Thanks
Thank you too.
Thanks for this - great explanation 😊 I only use VS so will now try FLC now I understand it more thanks to your video 👍
Thanks for feeding back - it's good to know the video is helpful.
Great presentation.... Very helpful... Thank you... Roger
Many thanks Roger.
An Awesome back to basics video thank you am currently taking notes as I watch
Thanks Mike.
@@Huddison was getting abit tardy on my flying or lazy good to have these videos as a refresher.
Thanks for the reminder about FLC. I tend to use VS because it’s on my multipanel, and I forget about FLC. I’ll try to do better 😊
I'm also guilty of relying on VS too much ;)

Those are great tips.
Agree with all of this. In FLC, just remember to pull back the throttle when you reach your altitude or you will enter the yellow or worse.
