Having read nearly all the Mma Ramotswe, 44 Scotland St and Isobel D series I discovered this book today and have read it in a day. The universal messages about the human condition are immersed into the text.Loved it.

I can not think of another author whose main theme is so much that of human kindness, decency, honesty, mutual respect. Alexander M.S. does not preach. He just invites us into fictional worlds where much better attitudes prevail than in the "real" world our "influencers" want us to believe that we live in. And makes it joyful, kind, sustaining.

When I read Alexander McCall Smith's books, I am transported. Elevated. Deeply, deeply moved. La's Orchestra Saves the World, is one of my very favourite books. I discovered it during covid lock-downs. I have read the book and listened to the audio-book several times. And 44 Scotland Street. Sheer joy!

What an unlikely, delightful writer this, even allowing an introduction to one of his books by Mma Ramotswe, who confesses she does not really have time to read it.
